The weather was right for sitting outside at dinner with view of historic Williamsburg. Menu had a big selection of creative, but not overly-wrought specialties. Very good burgundy at small markup. Service excellent, friendly but not obtrusive throughout. Will be our first choice next time...More

We tried the mozzarella, soft crab, rabbit frisee, the arugula salad, and the madeleines (for dessert)... I loved it all except for the rabbit. I found it too salty but my husband thought it just right. You will not be disappointed. The service was great...More

The service was great, especially since we were such a large party, and the food was seasoned well and quite delicious. The portions were also very generous.

We only average a night or two a year because we live in NC but whenever we book it is like coming home. They have an excellent staff both front of house and in the kitchen...and by front of house I mean as you walk...More

Fat Canary is one reason why Williamsburg has built a well-deserved reputation as a destination with a hot, hip & innovative food scene. This picturesque historic colonial James River town is a somewhat unlikely locale for such sophisticated creative artisanal world class cooking. The quality...More

This restaurant has given us great pleasure last Friday night. I had the Guinea Fowl, sourced locally from WINSTON-SALEM, served with morels and sugar snap peas over a bed of risotto. My son had the seared pork chop. My wife had the halibut with a...More

Very nice dinner with great service and food to match. Next to the cheese shop and some local wine tasting if desired. Good range of entrees. Direct view of the kitchen.

Booking well in advance here is the norm but on a chance visit they found us a seat at the bar - what good luck that was! The server (who was also involved in serving drinks for the restaurant) greeted us immediately and provided first...More

Fat Canary is an exceptional restaurant - and will offer you a variety of options. Anything you select will meet the highest standards. It is not a steakhouse - I’m in Bangalore and jet lagged. My last response was confusing. More

That's odd, I have been to Fat Canary 3 times and each time our special occasion was recognized.

This high-energy bistro took over as Williamsburg's best restaurant as soon as it opened in 2003. The sophisticated but relaxed dining room has an open kitchen, which uses fresh, local ingredients for its creative American fare. The dining bar and seasonal outdoor patio seating are on a first come basis. Reservations for the dining room are recommended and may be made up to 2 months in advance. Open daily for dinner, a hostess is available during the day to take reservations.
