This high-energy bistro took over as Williamsburg's best restaurant as soon as it opened in 2003. The sophisticated but relaxed dining room has an open kitchen, which uses fresh, local ingredients for its creative American fare. The dining bar and seasonal outdoor patio seating are on a first come basis. Reservations for the dining room are recommended and may be made up to 2 months in advance. Open daily for dinner, a hostess is available during the day to take reservations.

Ate dinner there on our anniversary. The food is gourmet with the prices reflecting this. Waiter and other staff were awesome. They really made us feel special. We forgot our camera phone that evening, but Neal, our waiter, took several pictures, including one on the...More

We visited for dinner with two children. The food was exquisite. Every plate we ordered was cooked perfectly and well presented. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The desserts were just the right amount of sweet. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Fat Canary faces Williamsburg's main drag, the Duke of Gloucester Street, with tourists from all over the world, as well as students from the College of William and Mary (1693), my alma mater. The restaurant is long and narrow, with a good crowd but not...More

Food, service, small talk with others. Quite not a large place but very professional. I’ll definitely go back

Best high end restaurant in Williamsburg. Great table service and atmosphere. Good bar and menu selection. In colonial Williamsburg so you can beat location.

The only negative criticism I have of The Fat Canary has to do with the snippy & rude hostesses on duty @ the reception desk. It’s as though management selected the most simple-minded air heads they could find in Williamsburg to act as hostesses. Once...More

Four of us had dinner here and we now understand how this restaurant is so highly rated. First of all, the food was outstanding. The sauces on the main courses were excellent. The presentation was also a treat. The service was quite good - informative...More

Fat Canary is an exceptional restaurant - and will offer you a variety of options. Anything you select will meet the highest standards. It is not a steakhouse - I’m in Bangalore and jet lagged. My last response was confusing. More

That's odd, I have been to Fat Canary 3 times and each time our special occasion was recognized.
