You'll find a lot of variety at this better-than-average cheese shop. Lots of choices other than cheese.

Ordered two sandwiches to go and both had very little meat or cheese. Total rip off for very expensive sandwiches.

Had lunch here with some old friends; were able to sit outside on the patio in front with our sandwiches, which were all VERY good. They left the tomatoes off of mine, but when I went back they gave me a container of marinated tomatoes...to add to it. Very happy here.More

I heard from a Colonial Williamsburg employee that this was a good place to get soup or sandwich for lunch, so I went over one day to check it out. There is a ton of interesting food items/condiments for sale on top of the prepared...sandwiches. When I got there there was a long line, so I opted to grab a pre-prepared cheese and salami plate with a beverage. Service was quick and friendly, and the location outside is great for peoplewatching in Merchants Square.More

This is a sandwich shop where you order, wait until your name is called, pick up your sandwiches, pay for them, then go outside to find a place to sit and eat. Our sandwiches were very good. We enjoyed bro9using the store while we waited.

No trip to Williamsburg is complete without a stop at The Cheese Shop. The Combo ( Turkey & Virginia ham) with Swiss cheese and extra House (house dressing is an addictive mustard mayonnaise mix & the extra is a Jell-O shot serving to dip your...sandwich in) is my favorite. The roast beef & cheddar is also good. Get some extra house dressing with bread ends to go.More

With few options for lunch in Colonial Williamsburg, we were delighted to stop here for lunch. The sandwiches are excellent! Also, the shop is a delight to explore. The tiny ham biscuits in the refrigerated section were a happy find. Be aware that it's not...open on Sundays or Mondays (lots of places aren't, so plan accordingly when you visit). There's very little seating indoors, and it would be nice if they suggested a time limit for tables so more parties could enjoy the air conditioning while they eat. But outdoor seating is abundant.More

This is one of my favorite stops on our visits to Williamsburg. They have great sandwiches, beer, and wine, plus anything else you could want for a picnic lunch.

Great sandwiches and delicious choices. We saw their was a wine tasting downstairs. We tried to take a drinking tour earlier in the week but it didn't work out. It would be nice if all of the places worked with each other. Would have loved...to try this on a cocktail or wine tour. Def recommend!More

New to the area, my husband and I have just been trying out some new places and I'm so glad we stumbled across this one. There is always a wait for this food for a reason. I will say the ordering process can be a...little confusing if you've never been before. But I do love that you can order your sandwich and then kind of collect things around the shop to buy before you check out. My husband did say he preferred my veggie sandwich to the combo turkey & country ham sandwich he got.More

My husband, another couple, and I stopped here for lunch on Tuesday, May 31 as we were looking for good food. I wasn't certain we would find what we needed to satisfy the diabetic and non-carb requirements among us. Despite their sandwich shop being closed,...likely again because of staffing shortages, we were able to find wonderful food. Both couples ordered custom cheese boards and we also found tuna salad, ham salad, cole slaw, and egg salad. All were delicious. We topped that with local draft beers and the meal was complete. After lunch we stopped downstairs in the wine cellar where we found a great selection and bought a lovely, reasonably priced bottle of Italy red. Although we did not partake, we loved the assortment of interesting foods such as organic balsamic vinegar and other delights. Great shop!More

The products are great, but the women behind the cheese counter are so incredibly-rude it is baffling. None of the cheeses have any labels and when asked to provide any information on them or to package them up for purchase they throw a visible eye...roll and muffled comment your way - it begs the question why they work in the service industry. My only remaining question is that if you truly abhor answering questions about cheese then why do you work in a cheese shop??More

We had lunch at The Cheese Shop the weekend after Thanksgiving. Although there was some wait, it was not as long as some other times. We used the time to browse the store. Both of our sandwiches were fresh and nicely prepared. The prices are...reasonable. The best bargain in the store may be the bags of french bread ends for $1. They make great garlic bread.More
