Uncomfortable chairs - need to change. Bland food, but large portions. Wait staff very friendly not in " character " as in other Inns. All in all I'd pass this one.

We had a wonderful dinner at Shields Tavern. The Ale-potted-Beef, WOW!!!!! My husband would go back just for that. Everything was delicious......

A meal at Shield's Tavern is a nice trip back in time. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating, the dining area (mostly in the basement) is comfortable and has a pleasant atmosphere. Shields requires a reservation, which may be made online, by phone or at the Visitor's Center. We were two couples and two children and greatly enjoyed it.... More

I was surprised that the menu items at Shield's Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg were reasonably priced. I'd say they were comparable to restaurants outside the historic area. A menu was posted outside to help with decision making. Our server was dressed in period costume, as were the greeters at the door and hostess. All were friendly and helpful. I chose... More

I had lunch which was overpriced, but not so overpriced as eating dinner in the restored area. Both the food and the service were good. I was a little disappointed that the service staff didn't give any educational information as we had in other restaurants. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable. The seats were too low to the floor and the... More

There were 14 of us celebrating a birthday and an engagement that happened in front of the King's Arms that day, Everyone's meal was delicious and the staff celebrated with us. A little pricey but WELL worth it.

So not as cheesy as I thought it would be, they did not try and make you participate in the history making but was traditional in a good way. The service was excellent as was the food. Delicious.

This was our first time at Shields. We have done some other taverns at Colonial Williamsburg. The food was great. My father enjoyed his salad and especially the house dressing, a fruity vinegarette. We all had the grilled pork. It was tender and flavorful. We sat in the basement but it wasn't loud and on a cold night it was... More

My family visited Colonial Williamsburg over Veterans Day weekend and had lunch. We were pleasantly surprised that the prices were very reasonable for a tourist area. The server was excellent and the food was delicious.

It honestly felt like we stepped back in time (especially if you use the restroom facilities in the basement and then walk back into the tavern). What an awesome experience. Not only was the food outstanding, but the entertainment (musicians and comedians) made this a perfect ending to visiting colonial Williamsburg.
