My girlfriend and I went to Sal's and did the special of 2 dinners and you get a free bottle of wine. So Good we headed back that way again a few nights later. We order different items off the menu again. There were no...leftovers. Great Staff! We might just have to do it again later this week and try the pizza.More

Sal’s Ristorante Italiano is a very good place to eat. Wife and I went there on special of 2 dinners and you get a free bottle of wine. We took 9 Hats Red wine, this is a 18-20 dollar bottle of wine and it was...free and good wine with a nice smoky taste. Wife had chicken parmigiana and I had chicken cacciatore and we split one of the best tiramisu’s we have the ever had. Total bill less than $40.00 and food was great. If in Williamsburg give Sal’s Italiano a try.More

Host, and waitress were friendly. But the food was really bad. The salad had lettuce that was translucent- as if it had been in the refrigerator for weeks. Truly, it was white, wilted & no green leaves whatsoever. I would be so embarrassed to serve...anyone such a thing. Next, we had lasagna. A heaping plate of noodles with meat & cheese- sauce. Not a traditional baked lasagna that had a slice cut/served to us. It was horrible.More

M y wife had clams linguini and said it was one of the best she ever had.Ask for the special( if you...purchase 2 entrees over $ 14 dollars each you get a free bottle of wine. We were so full we could not eat dessert but the cannolini looked so good we brought one home and it was sooooo fresh and tasty we wish we had taken two home.More

Please learn from our mistake. This restaurant is not related in any way to Sals by Victor! We assumed it was. We have always enjoyed Sals by Victor, but we saw this and read the recent positive reviews. We now realize that at least some...of those positive reviews are actually about Sals by Victor! For example, one of the recent positive reviews mentions a calzone. Sal's doesn't offer calzones but Sals by Victor does. I ordered chicken marsala which comes with salad and bread. The bread was stale, dry and crumbly. My salad was mainly iceberg lettuce. It was full of water which diluted the house dressing. This is when I asked the server if the two restaurants were connected in any way and she confirmed that it was not. My entree was brought to the table and I thought I smelled fish. I thought maybe it was some ingredient in the glaze/sauce. I took some bites but that smell kept bothering me. I asked my husband to smell it and without me telling him my thoughts he said it smelled like fish. We called the server over and asked her if there was fish sauce or something in the marsala sauce, as the entree tasted like fish. She spoke with someone who confirmed: no fish sauce. I told her that actually made me nervous to hear that as now I would worry that I've ingested spoiled food. She went and talked with someone and did nothing other than hand us the check. At better restaurants a concerned manager might have come to the table to speak with us. Nothing. Just a full check. Son's cheese pizza was tolerable, nothing more. My husband's chicken parm was barely average. I do not recommend! You have been warned!More

So my husband and I were on our way to have an evening get-together with some old friends and we realized we hadn't eaten all day. This place is right across the street from where I work and I thought let's give this place a...try. We were not disappointed! I want to say his name was Sal - is a fabulous person, with a very warm and inviting personality. It felt like you were talking to an old friend. I love the portion sizes. I hate going to an Italian restaurant or any restaurant for that matter where they American-size the portions and you have to take a box home. The portions at Sal's were just enough for one person. No leftovers to take home. We had really good carrot cake and cheesecake that reminded me of Eli's Cheesecake. If you're from the Midwest you know what I'm talking about. I had the eggplant parmesan, not so impressed with the eggplant but I absolutely understand why it was a little tough. In this climate, it's almost fortunate to find egg plant at all. His prices were Fair. And we even got a free bottle of wine for buying the more expensive dinners. That was the special of the night. And the wine was also delicious! I'm just very pleased with this place. I hope he can stay open. I think they're struggling in the wake of this New Flu. Go. GO. GO! They also have tables outside to sit. We will be back.More

When we travel, no matter where we go, we search out local mom and pop restaurants. Sometimes they are a hit, sometimes a miss.. this was a homerun. We were served a "Damn good looking Pizza!" (Meat lovers) that tasted even better than it looked....Wife had eggplant Parmesan.. she said it was AMAZING and the portion? Enough for 3 people. Great people, trying to make it to the other side of COVID and they are struggling. Go out of your way to eat here, and keep their doors open. They're doing their best to continue to serve very good food, and trying to stay in business without raising prices. It's near impossible in the state of VA today. Go, eat, and be generous.More

Stopped at Sal’s for lunch after visiting ColonialWilliamsburg;I had the calzone, my husband had the ravioli, and both were really good. Not a fancy restaurant, but it was clean and comfortable, with plenty of room for “social distancing,” if that’s your preference. Our waitress was...friendly, the prices were good, and you get free refills on soft drinks! Sal’s offers all the typical Italian fare—spaghetti, chicken Parmesan, subs, salads, pizza, etc. Great place for kids.More
