This used to be a very good restaurant, now the food is terrible. I ordered delivery and this was the only good thing. The chips tasted as if they were cooked in oil that was in the fryer, and never cleaned, for at least two...years. The tacos, chile rellenos, tamales, enchiladas, and salads were all terrible in taste and texture. Avoid this place at all costs.More

We had planned on visiting a different Mexican restaurant and they were closed. Good thing! We ended up here. Food was amazing as well as the service. Small place with plenty of seating. Delicious!

Stopped in before the fireworks tonight remembering how good it was a couple years ago. Not sure how it happened, but La Tolteca on 2nd Street has found a way to make Mexican food without flavor. We ordered the Fajita Nachos, Nachos Supremo, and a...Chicken Quesadilla Ranchera. Every one of the dishes, along with the salsa, has no flavor or spice whatsoever. Ground beef, chicken, and beans could have all been easily interchangeable because they all tasted about the same. First time bringing a friend here and they too were unimpressed. Not one of us was willing to even box up our leftovers. What happened? Instantpot cooking maybe? Lastly, please have your wait staff doing something else other than standing near the kitchen door staring at everyone eating. I am sure there is something else they could be doing. Makes for an uncomfortable atmosphere for dining in such a small area. Sad to say, but tonight is the last time we will venture into La Tolteca.More

La Tolteca is a cute little colorful restaurant that serves very good Mexican food. I had an Arizona Quesadilla which was delicious and HUGE! The guacamole and salsa were excellent. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals and did not leave hungry.

When we walked in we were underwhelmed. The feeling of over decorated cafeteria was palpable. But there were a lot of people so we figured we would be fine in terms of the food. The chips were ok, the salsa was ok...it wasn't looking good....The passion margarita was fantastic. The food was delicious. My husband's plate had so much food that presentation wasn't pleasant. I had the nachos with chicken and chorizo, they were perfect. Wish I lived closer so that I could return and try other plates.More

Me & the girls were on a overnight trip to Williamsburg. We had lunch here. The service was very good & the food was delicious. They had the best salsa. I would definitely go here again.

When we entered the restaurant around 5:30 pm on a Sunday evening, they were not busy at all. But by the time we left, the place was packed! The service was top-notch. Our waiter seemed to be the manager/owner, and he was serving tables, mixing...drinks, seating guests, and working the register. It was a well-oiled machine. (There were other servers too.) The food was great, and we'd definitely visit again.More

This is our go-to place for fast service. They are always so quick and you never have to ask for a drink. My kids love it as well and we bring out of town guests there who love their homemade guacamole. It is filled with...hard working staff. The only thing missing is a good homemade Mole dish but their menu is filled with a ton of choices it never gets old. This is definitely the place we go to when we worry will our kids make it through a meal especially when they were younger. We knew we could get in and out yet enjoy a great adult meal too without breaking the bank.More

Typical casual Mexican place but the food says it all. Each dish is HUGH and well done. Margaritas come in 3 sizes and the biggest is mind blowing and there is actually Tequila in it !!!

La Tolteca is your typical small-town American-Mexican food. Basically pick your favorite little Mexican joint from your home town, and that's basically what La Tolteca is. It's not going to challenge you to new culinary experiences, but it's also not going to disappoint you. If...you're in town for all of the amazing historical stuff, and want a solid and filling meal for the family, this would definitely be a solid choice.More

What a gem! We were able to place an order online for pickup, and the food was delicious! The enchiladas were some of the best I’ve ever had. Decent prices, generous portions, and a friendly staff.

The places you go to regularly are the places where you get the best overall experience. The folks who run this place clearly care. The food is fabulous, prices great, service super, cleanliness top notch. Their fajitas are my favorite, but I've had other dishes...that have been wonderful as well. My photo is of the Texas fajitas - steak, chicken and shrimp... Yum!More
