We were looking for a seafood restaurant and saw that this one was close to our accommodations in Williamsburg. We did not expect the linen tablecloths and the leather-like burgundy booths. The server was very attendant without being intrusive. My husband's cosmopolitan was perfect. We...both decided to try to fried seafood platter based on the fact that the fried calamari appetizer was done with a light batter - almost like tempura. Our very large platters arrived with probably the best fried seafood we have ever had. We have had many platters as we have lived along the east coast for decades. The most surprising part was the crabcake. My husband is from Maryland and they judge all crabcakes against Maryland crabcakes. This one was delicious, crispy on the outside, and with chunks of lump meat. My husband even said he would order it as a meal. My fried oysters were done perfectly as were the scallops. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the seafood.More

We are in Williamsburg on vacation. I wanted at least one special seafood dinner while here. I read numerous menus online and was impressed by this one. My husband and I were so pleased with my choice. Every dish, from appetizer to dessert, was outstanding....The Mediterranean grouper was memorable. The baklava was made on site and was the best I’ve enjoyed ever. From the outside, the restaurant looks like a casual eatery. But the feel and decor are decidedly upscale as is the service.More

The worst dinning experience I've ever had! Waited 2 hrs for dinner. Half of my party walked out. We were asked to wait even longer because, they had run out of salmon. Over cooked fried oysters and dried out fish! The manger was very unacomdating....I will never return! Good luck, to those who are adventurous.More

Nice place with good service. The scallops were tasty and a decent sized portion. Operates as a substitute restaurant for Hilton Garden Inn.

This restaurant should be much higher on the Tripadvisor list. The food is excellent and the ambiance is very pleasant and unique. I had the crab cake which was delicious and I am from Maryland so I am fussy about crab cakes. My husband had...the fried seafood dinner. He reported that the batter was very light and everything was delicious. We are Williamsburg locals now so we plan on eating at this restaurant often.More

Very disappointing. We had been here eight years ago, and thought we remembered it was good, but sadly, it isn’t. My wife asked for a gin and tonic, which seemed to be nearly neat gin. I whispered “vermouth” at it, hoping it could become a...martini, but no luck. The bread was glazed with sugar, which was odd. I buttered it. That was a mistake. She had the crab bisque, and I had the clam chowder. In neither case could we tell that there were clams or crabs; they tasted like unseasoned bechamel. We both ordered the fried flounder. Breaded cardboard would have had more flavour. Somehow, it was both overcooked and underfried. The fish was nearly invisible and had no taste, and the batter was flabby and insipid. I never leave food on my plate. I left this. Even the fries were underdone. We dared not risk dessert.More

We arrived promptly at 6:15; we thought we'd made a mistake on the date/time - no one was there! Our dinner was fine - uneventful but ok. Our service was impeccable and the server was helpful suggesting items for my gluten-free diet, but she mentioned...nothing abut their having a bar. We ordered a bottle of wine instead. By the time we we left, about 7, two other tables had diners. It was nice but were we to return to Williamsburg, we probably wouldn't go back.More

The food was very good however after seeing the pictures of the food I didn’t see not even half of the items on the menu that was in the pictures. For instance they didn’t have any desert Items on the menu I had the seafood...combo it was plentiful and very good for a fair price the menu only listed it as fried but I asked for it to be broiled and they were able to accommodate me with that and it was very good. My wife had the fried shrimp there were plenty on the plate and they were very big that she could not finish the last two so I had to help her out. It was her 65th Birthday and I asked if they did anything special they came out with ice cream with a candle it was nice the waiter Sang happy birthday and the others patrons in the room all sang along with him and myself. Yes i did my job to embarrass her but we all had fun. You will enjoy your self at this place it is an upscale restaurant with moderate prices enjoy yourself we did.More

Great food and wonderful service. Welcomed and seeing my wife with a cane seated us in the first booth. Even before placing our order a small piece of bread (more like pound cake) placed at our place settings. After placing our orders a sorbet was...served. When our meals arrived we were offered fresh cornbread. I had the fried oysters and my wife fried shrimp. Both were wonderful. Shrimp were 5 large and 8 oysters. I love oysters and these were in my top 5 category. Too full for desert but it sounded delicious. Decor was nautical and well organized and designed. Fine dining at its best.More

We planned a special celebration meal at the Seafare and were extremely disappointed. The service was good, but the food was not. Only one person of the five of us enjoyed the food from starter to dessert and the bill was over $250. For that...price, more of us should have been happy and so disappointed for my daughter, as it was her college graduation celebration.More

Made reservation thru Open Table. The highlight was the perfectly made escargot. They were the bomb! Our meals, not so much. Small portions, my husband had one of the sauton specials and I had the tournedoes of beef. Meal was over $150 which did include...a martini n 2 glasses of wine. Our server Victoria or Veronica? was very knowledgeable and charming.More

First, the ambiance and decor is a flash back a few decades but in a nice way. White tablecloths, plush booths and dim lighting along with some unique art work. We both started with the chowders which were a little bland. My husband ordered the...salmon which was cooked perfectly but missing the dill sauce advertised on the menu. I ordered a lobster tail. It was huge and delicious. Both entrees came with fresh vegetables and a big baked potato with butter and sour cream. We had three varieties of bread. Our server was friendly and pleasant. She did her best but, somehow, this restaurant just barely missed the mark.More
