Service was good, drinks were good and the food was pretty average. The worst part was that the toast in the Welsh rarebit was burnt and they poured the cheese over it to hide it. Probably will never be back.

My wife and I ate here after being unable to get a reservation at some of the more upscale dining locations (due to lack of planning on our part). We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our dinner very much. I had the Honey ham sandwich...and it was excellent - 9/10. i would definitely order this again for pub fare. My wife had the lamb burger and it tasted as good as it smelled - Wow. She had a glass of siema wine which was good. I had the chocolate cake which was average. Service was good but you could see they were shorthanded. We would come here again if we travelled to Williamsburg.More

I am a local and have been to the DoG Street Pub a number of times. But the last time will be the very last time. My wife and I had lunch, paid by card, and when I got home I saw that there was...the usual credit card alert on my phone. I didn't bother to check it immediately, but when I did I saw that I'd been double charged for the meal. I thought it must have been a simple error and would take care of itself. But it didn't. After a couple of days the second charge didn't 'drop off.' It went from pending to charged. I exchanged six emails with the manager, a half-bright guy named Kyle. He hemmed and hawed and dug in and refused to accept what I was telling him. No matter how much proof I presented he simply wouldn't undo the second charge. I finally had to resort to contacting my bank. After reviewing my account they immediately saw what the issue was and issued me a full refund within minutes. I would like to think this was a simple mistake made by my server, but after dealing with Kyle I began to wonder. I'd like to know if others have had this issue with them or if it was just my bad luck.More

We were visiting from out of state. Our family decided to take us to Williamsburg for the day. We decided to have lunch here. We walked into the hostess station. There was no friendly smiling face or pleasant greeting. It was just a scowl and...the wait will be 45 minutes. Okay ! We sat down to wait and she immediately admonished us yelling you can't sit there. A pleasant server came by and we asked her if we could sit at the available table outside and just eat there. She said "of course". Next thing you know out comes the hostess admonishing the server in front of us and other customers. Then she came over and told us to move from the table we were told we could sit at. Needless, to say we moved alright-to another restaurant, where we had to wait, but enjoyed a pleasant lunch in a non-hostile or confrontational atmosphere. I was hoping that the attitude of the hostess at this restaurant was not reflective of the people in Virginia. I would suggest that possibly for the mutual benefit of the hostess and the restaurant that she find a position in a different line of work, not dealing with customers. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've seen.More

Stopped in for after-dinner drinks and dessert. We sat at the bar and got excellent service. They had a wide selection of draft beers and soem good desserts. I had a brown ale that was served in a mason jar. My companion had a stout...in a half-pint glass. We shared a double chocolate cake that was ... well, .. as chocolate as any cake I've ever experienced. Just be aware that on very hot days, their A/C is less than optimal.More

This restaurant was busy, even at lunchtime in the middle of the week. I ate at the bar so that I didn't have to wait for a table. The house wine was a Chardonnay and wasn't great, but the bartender was very friendly. The lamb...burger was good, but the chips came out cold. It was a little overpriced for what we got. I would come back again, but I would try a different meal.More

Visisted July 31,.2021 and it was apparent we were not welcome We came in and asked if there were tables outside. The hostess snapped that the wait for us would be longer than the restaurant would be open. Lots of empty tables but I thought...okay. I asked if we could order to go. She snapped "orders are taken online!" I looked at her for a moment and thought, wow. So I told her" I am not local and I didn't know that, is there a link from your site?". She started to walk away and I started to search but she returned and said "let me get someone to take your order." We waited. In the time it took to finally get a waiter to notice us. This hostess seated two sets of couples that just walked in. A family of about 5 outside and a party of more than 7 in. All coming in after us. All seated immediately with zero questions or statements about waiting. She never touched her book and they never gave a name. Just requested seats for their party. I looked around and the ONLY difference between my party of three and the entire bar, short of one waitress, was we were minorities. This establishment is shameful for hiring a staff member who is freely treating patrons so badly. My money spends the same by the way. Shameful treatment.More

A great Smash Burger Special. Comes with fries and a beer, 15.00? Great deal! Usually you have to sacrifice quality with price, not here whatsoever! Love the fact that they have no walk in freezer and everything is locally sourced as much as possible. My...waiter checked up on me and I held up a "holdon a second" finger. I told him I was having a moment. Delicious!More

(Pre-Covid Review) This place is a must-stop! The food is very good, and it is dog friendly of course! The staff is very friendly and if you do happen to have a dog, I'm pretty sure they serve them as well. If you choose to...eat outside on the side, the road can get a bit noisy since you are right on the road. Another thing to note is to make sure you make a reservation! This place gets very crowded and if you do not have one, it will be a very long wait, and almost impossible to get a table.More
