This was the best food I have had since I’ve been in Virginia!!! We had calamari appetizer that was cooked to perfection with a dried tomato sauce drizzle..YUM! Fresh and deliciously light and crisp! Entrees of sea bass with shrimp, hollandaise with grilled asparagus…also cooked...perfectly! Moist and fresh! The lobster crab cake with a green onion vinaigrette was crisp but full of white crab meat and lobster! And to finish. A light lemon basil sorbet! Very fresh and homemade. The other dessert was a Nutella filled bombolini with caramel sauce..Heaven!!!! The food was plated artistically and a feast to the eyes! Worth every penny! Excellent staff as well, very friendly and attentiveMore

Asked if the sea bass was filleted, answer was yes. All bones, hardly any fish, $45. Overpriced and stupid. 3 people, $245. Yes, included 4 alcoholic beverages. Will not return in this lifetime.

Sat next to the fireplace in a little cove, was quiet and lovely. Our dinners were salmon, scallops and bouillabaise..all were delicious! We had a new server who was ok, she has a lot to learn. All around very good.

We stopped by here for a late lunch on a Wednesday afternoon on our way to Virginia Beach. The place was not very full when we arrived so we were seated immediately. We were not hungry enough for a heavy meal so we ordered appetizers...instead. We enjoyed a bowl of She Crab soup (no cups served here), a lunch special Quiche, Meatball & Goat Cheese and the Croquettes. I agree with the reviews of the She Crab soup, I found the soup tasty and delicious, but lacking enough crab meat. The Quiche and the Meatball & Goat Cheese was the better of the appetizers we ordered. The Croquettes were good but I would not order again. We have not had before, but I think it could have been cooked longer. They were very savory but too mushy in consistency for us. The prices are on the high side but the food was very good, as was the service. We did not wait long for our order to arrive. This is a classy place which we would recommend.More

We had an early dinner and were seated promptly. I had the She Crab Bowl and it was a nice soup but not much crab flavor so not a good She Crab soup for me. I ordered the special of stuffed Flounder and it was...good but cost $48.00. My husband liked his raw oysters and a Fried Oyster Caesar salad. I ordered one of their homemade ice creams, Butterfinger, but it was not very good as I wouldn't order it again and I love Butterfingers. The food is expensive for what you get.More

This was our first visit under the new ownership. We had a late lunch and made up 2 of the 4 folks there at that time. The lunch menu is not large but sufficient for our needs. We could not recall if the interior had...been updated but the facility looks very nice and comfortable. My wife choose the Grilled Cheese and Soup and upgrade for $4 the She Crab Soup. The sandwich was nicely grilled and plenty enough to make a dinner snack out of it. She was impressed with the soup which comes with Aged Sherry. A must for that soup! I choose the Chicken and Burrata Sandwich with came with a side. I choose the French Fries, based upon Brandon's (our waiter) suggestion. And he was right on! All was prepared nicely and served quickly and very hot. We would highly suggest Waypoint for your next lunch site.More

Although it is tucked away in a strip shopping center, upon entry to Waypoint you immediately get the impression that you will have a 5-star dining experience. Once we saw the menu, we were even more certain it would be that way. Unfortunately, we were...disappointed for several reasons. For appetizers my wife and I ordered two different bruschetta options: Smoked Trout/Celery Root/Roasted Pepper and Brie/Apple/Arugula/Chipotle-Cinnamon. The bread was appropriately grilled, and each bruschetta option comes with three pieces, so we were both able to taste each option. In summary, the Smoked Trout was more flavorful, and the Brie was more refreshing. They were both good, so one should choose based upon whether they want a flavorful dish or a refreshing dish. For entrees my wife chose the Chef's Special Stuffed Flounder, and I chose their Faroe Island Salmon. My wife said that the stuffed flounder was very good. Regarding my salmon dish, I thought the salmon itself was excellent - flavorful and a perfect medium rare. My problem with the dish was the accompanying grilled endive. It was incredibly bitter. There are a number of cooking techniques to reduce significantly the natural bitterness of endive; those techniques need to be applied here. So, from the food perspective, we would average out the dishes to a 4-star rating. The service was a different matter. Our server came to take our order just minutes after we were seated. When we told him that we needed more time to read the menu, it was probably 10-15 minutes before he returned, and it did not appear that he was terribly busy serving other tables. The complimentary bread and butter were not brought to the table until AFTER we had finished our appetizers. We noticed the same was true for a table near us. Both parties sat for a significant period with nothing to eat with our cocktails or wine. Our server never refilled our water glasses - never the entire night, and they were empty. Our server never poured additional wine in our wine glasses. While we are perfectly capable of pouring our own wine, an upscale restaurant like this one is trying to be should endeavor to keep their customers' wine glasses half-filled. A 2-star service rating with a 4-star food rating leads me to an overall 3-star rating. I hope that this feedback will help them see easy opportunities for improvement, so that future patrons will have a better dining experience.More

Had high hopes as we awaited reopening under new management. We found the prices very high and food was not hot when delivered. $29 for 1/2 of Cornish game hen was the least expensive item on the dinner menu and we left hungry. They do...offer less expensive items on their lunch menu that may be a better choice. Don’t think we will return anytime soonMore

I haven't been to Waypoint since 2019, and it closed after that due to the pandemic and a transfer of ownership. It's now reopened, and looks like it expanded to include more space. They had a smaller menu than I remember, however the options were...nicely prepared with decent portion sizes. I ordered the special...Rockfish. It was excellent--pan seared, over saffron rice with a few vegetables mixed in. The price was $36. I've had this same meal--same quality--at other restaurants for $28, so I was surprised it was that high. However, it was okay for a nice Saturday evening out with friends. (I'm glad we had separate checks and I didn't pick up the tab!!) Hopefully, they will bring down their prices a little in the future because I won't eat here but once a year at these prices. (There are too many options in Williamsburg that are more reasonable with the same quality.) Our waiter was wonderful and checked on us regularly.More

Very disappointing visit. Food offers NO comparison to the excellent old Waypoint. Slow service, average food and extremely OVERPRICED. Entre; (3) scallops (3) polenta discs...$43.00! To add to the disappointment, entire dish was drenched in a a very bitter grapefruit glaze. Debriefed management on departure...but they did not seem concerned.More

This was our second time eating here since it recently reopened under new management. We had Sunday brunch three weeks ago and the quiche over an arugula salad was impressive. Dinner tonight was excellent! The two waitresses were friendly, helpful and provided excellent service. My...wife had a Cosmo and I had a draft IPA. We each liked our selections. We split a dozen "just right" fried oysters in a very tasty sauce. My wife had Rockfish and I had the largest bone -in Veal cutlet that I have ever seen. It was excellent! We brought home part of our meals as we couldn't finish them. The former Waypoint was in our top three Williamsburg restaurants that consistently provided us with a great eating experience. This "new" Waypoint is as good as the "old"one.More

Waypoint Seafood and Grill is open again. New owners/management/chef but same name. We dined there on Oct 22nd. They were only open Friday & Saturday for dinner and Sunday brunch but are trying to staff up to expand their days. Our dinners were excellent and...service was good. We had the pan seared scallops and a black grouper special. Both were very enjoyable and the grouper in particular presented a cornucopia of flavors. The staff was exceedingly pleasant as we spoke with both the general manager and the chef. The setting is also very inviting with a moderate size open dining area but also a couple of semi-private dining nooks for small groups. Also an attractive and comfortable waiting area inside the restaurant (not in an entryway). Help then get started and enjoy a great meal.More

No lunch even though they advertise lunch every day. Dinner is not worth the money. Copycat entrees from other far better venues. A wanna be fine dining establishment. Management does nothing but stand around thinking they are cute. Far cry from the original Waypoint. What...a shame.More

We have eaten at Waypoint several times over the course of our son's time at William & Mary and always enjoyed our meals there, so when it came time to plan dinners for our family of 15+ over graduation weekend, we made a reservation here...and are so glad we did! We had our own room, a wonderfully attentive waiter, Louis, and delicious food. The crab cakes, shrimp and scallops, flounder and clam "chowder" and the soft shell crab are just a few of the standout entrees. For apps, we enjoyed the calamari, oysters and bisque. Thank you for making our dinner so enjoyable!More
