Laid back, simple atmosphere. Nice staff. Food, as usual, is just average. They need to add more sauce. Williamsburg is just not a great town for bbq.

The place looks like a big dump outside, with a big old sprawling, messy fence facing the street - really brings down an otherwise decent neighborhood. Inside was a little better, but I'm so sorry for the people who live nearby.
Good food. We ordered Pulled Pork sandwich and Brunswick Stew. Cornbread portion was generous, was very good but too crumbly, impossible to hold let alone try to butter it. Service was good. Price was on the high end of acceptable.
After driving all day and checking in to our hotel we were ready to stretch our legs and chose this restaurant simply because it provided a half mile walk each way from our hotel. My husband ordered the pickled plate appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed a...large array of pickled items. Pickled onions, green beans, cucumbers, peppers, etc. Of course it was way too much food for one but he gave it a go. I ordered fried green tomatoes . There were four slices and I had two. They were so good my husband had one too. We each ordered a pulled pork sandwich as our entree. They were huge, loaded with meat and more than enough for a meal. The server was personable and attentive. Overall it was a great dinner. We were certainly happy to have a 1/2 mile walk afterward to help walk off some calories!More
Had pulled pork, brisket, ribs & chili. Everything was very good. Only three Sauces available but all 3 were good. Would go back.
This is the best food I’ve had in a really long time everything was so delicious we would drive 8 hrs just to come back and eat here again!
We were in town for thanksgiving vacation and had 7 of us in the group. We had delicious dinners and fun drink choices. I had the banh mi sandwich, which I loved and the peach ( bourbon) tea. Everyone loved there meals and the beer....Our waitress was super from friendly and professional. She was organized and attentive. We would definitely recommend.More
OK food with some unique options. Place was after lunch rush 230 PM with just 2 wait staff and kitchen staff. Took several minutes to get their attention when we arrived (considering place was mostly empty (two tables in use). Drink and food service was...slow at best. DisappointingMore
On past trips to Williamsburg, we have wanted to try Old City Barbecue and during this trip, we were able to do just that. My husband ordered the fried green tomatoes for himself and the pickle tray to share. He enjoyed the tomatoes and the...pickle tray was good, though unusual. I had a 1/4 lb. of the pork barbecue, which was delicious, with great sauces, and just enough for me. We were greeted and seated immediately. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful.More
If you are hungry, you need to order the Big Hal. WOW!!! it was delicious. Food was served hot, and the service was great, too.
While on vacation in Williamsburg we found Old City BBQ on York Street. The restaurant was clean, and tastefully decorated. The staff were friendly, professional, and we were seated right away. The menu had a good choice of snacks, soups, salads, sandwiches, tacos, smoked meat...platters, a la carte smoked meats, sides, breads, BBQ sauces, desserts, kids meals, & drinks. Our server ANNA was exceptional and I do mean exceptional! Our food was delivered hot and quickly. The best Ribs we’ve ever had! We will eat there again if we ever visit Williamsburg again. Definitely a 5 star rating! Dave & Mel Central New JerseyMore
Hungry after traveling all day. We were seated quickly. We were served quickly and they fed us! None of us were able to finish our meals. I would return here again!
Our waitress was excellent, even though they were quite busy, she was still there to be sure we got everything needed. Both our sandwiches were piled high with meet, one pulled chicken and one brisket. Both were mouthwatering and I would definitely go back.
My husband had the Brisket Dip with Mac n Cheese and I had the pulled pork sandwich with collards. All items were delicious! The brisket was tender and flavorful. There was plenty of au jus for dipping. The baguette was a proper bread to support...the meat, onions and cheese. The sandwich was quite large. I had the pulled pork sandwich served with pickled onions and cole slaw— perfect complements! The bun was buttered and toasted. The collard greens were special—-as good as I have ever had. They were seasoned with cooked meat and were properly-southern-accented with hot pepper vinegar. Our waitress, Grace, was prompt, efficient and friendly. We are only “passing through” or we would be visiting this restaurant frequently.More
Best Brunswick stew ever! The brisket dip sandwich was the best ever. Grace was a fantastic server and very helpful. Super fast and great atmosphere.
