Remember when dining was an orchestra of service, timing and excellent food? That is what our evening was. The meal and wine were in perfect harmony. Thank you, Rockefeller Room!
We honeymooned in Williamsburg and returned to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We had a superb dinner served by a charming waiter. The food was excellent with a number of unusual preparations. The atmosphere was conducive to such a celebration and best of all the waiter...made everything fun. For any sort of occasion or just a fine evening out I highly recommend the Rockefeller RoomMore
My girlfriends and I booked this December trip a year ago. We made dinner reservations (the same night of the Grand Illuminations event) long before we left home. It was absolutely lovely. The service was great and the entrees, delicious. Since we wanted to see...the Illuminations show that same night, and didn't want to rush, we asked if we could return later for dessert and order from the menu. YES! We sat in the bar later but because we had had dinner in the Rockefeller Room, we were able to order dessert to share in the bar. As I recall, my salmon meal was a bit different from the regular salmon entree on the menu. I loved having the toasted nuts as a garnish. YUM. Pricey? Maybe. But, no more so than other places of this caliber of food and service. A memorable and wonderful experience.More
OK, as locals we went with out with out of town guests. Had an early reservation. Had the Oysters Abby - Luke warm, 3 oysters, and the server didn't know the oysters origin. Not a good start. Then moved to the entree. Had the 12...oz NY strip- was served sliced[ never had a streak other than a skirt steak served like this. Not well trimmed and was very bland to the taste. For $55 it was not as good as a Outback steak! One guest had scallops- they were very blackened and just so so. 2 guests had salmon. The plates were cleared before all at the table were finished their dinners. Sever tried to clear one guest place 3 x before the guest was done eating. I figured that the staff were concerned about later reservations as opposed to providing good service. Needless to say we didn't ask for desert. The bill including tip was over $200 for two of us. So, won't bother with the Inn again, will leave it to the tourists!More
The chef created two appetizers from classics: a delicious twist on shrimp and grits and lovely oysters Abby. The waiter lifted the lid on the oysters and invited me to immerse my taste buds in the marvelous fragrance of the oyster preparation. Pure bliss and...I did save room for dessert, a gorgeous bread pudding.More
With another couple we dined here last night. Two of had the crispy pork dish. It was just wonderful - one of the best dishes I've eaten in a long time. One had salmon which was well cooked and fine. The other had steak which...was very tender and juicy. The wine list is very complete and has choices at all price points. Sommelier is very knowledgeable and profesional. Service was a little slow in getting started but fine thereafter.More
The service was very poor-- Thanksgiving dinner review. Maybe they treat the in-house guests better than those that come for the dinner itself, shouldn't matter. Was impressed with the food, the service was rude and seemed inexperienced in manners and fine dining.
My parents have been going to Williamsburg for years. They have always wanted to go to “the Rockefeller Room” for dinner but never felt they could justify the price. My family and I met them in Williamsburg for the Thanksgiving holiday and decided to treat...them for a special occasion. It was the day after Thanksgiving. For a ‘fine dining’ experience I did not expect to have to pass menus or drinks to my dining companions. I had to do that. I expected my water to be refilled. It was not done until the end of the meal and I had to ask. Most importantly, I expected all 6 of us to be served our meals at the same time. One person who had the same meal as another diner had to wait ‘momentarily’. It turned out to be 5 minutes. Very disappointing to say the least. We will certainly look for a better fine dining experience for our extended family visit next year.More
We had a very nice dinner here. I started with the crab cake and had the chicken entree. The crab cake was great, the chicken good. The bread and butter was amazing as was the flourless chocolate cake. Service and atmosphere were lovely, although our...enjoyment of the surroundings was dampened a bit by the presence of other diners in sweatpants and hoodies (mainly teenagers)...they really ought to have a dress code here.More
Had been here for a brunch some 22 year ago with my wife's entire family and she was anxious to return during our vacation to Wiliamsburg. It is quite the fancy place with all the atmosphere which one would expect in the fine dining establishment....The menu has a varied selection of offerings from Steak to Pork to Seafood to Pasta to Salads. We started with the Virginia Crab Cakes. The I ordered the Chicken Picata and my wife chose the Roast Pork. Our finishing touch was the Croissant Bread Pudding...simply delicious. Truly a culinary delight for the eveningand the service was superb. This is a MUST if you are traveling to Williamsburg...go ahead and treat yourself for one night. Rating 10/10.More
My Husband and I were visiting from California for our Honeymoon. We’re hardcore foodies and I used to work in the food industry, so believe me when I tell you we’ve had our fair share of steak. Our meal at the Rockefeller Room was unparalleled....The service was spectacular, our server Sharon was attentive, kind, and engaging. Our food was timely and our orders were always correct. We both ordered the 12oz Filet rare and it was PERFECT. Additionally, we could tell from the interior of the steak that it had been cooked by hand and not Sous Vide. To cook a steak that perfectly rare by hand is a challenge, to put it mildly, and they knocked it out of the park. Served with a kind of bone marrow butter/mousse, the steak melts in your mouth. I can honestly say it’s the best steak I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for an exceptional dining experience I can not recommend the Rockefeller Room enough.More
The food was excellent. The service was just so-so at best. It started out feeling rushed. The waiter had trouble understanding our wine order, and after we finished the sorbet, instead of clearing the dishes, he brought the food and told my wife to move...her plate so he could put down the entree.More
This restaurant is elegant and provides excellent service. The menu includes enough variety that almost anyone could find something that would appeal to his or her taste. It was a relaxing evening with terrific food.
On vacation in Williamsburg VA, my wife and two children(ages 4&5) dined in the Rockefeller Room at The Williamsburg Inn. The decor was elegantly done and appropriate for the historic colonial district. We were graciously seated at one of their round tables. The table had...a lovely grey velvet banquette and several extra pillows for comfort. Our server Sharon was quick to greet us with menus and drink options. My wife ordered the lemongrass daiquiri, which she enjoyed very much. I went with a barrel aged Manhattan, delightful. For starters my wife had the farmer's greens salad with goat cheese and crispy mushrooms. I had the oysters. Both were excellent. For entrees we had the bone-in-filet and roasted lamb shoulder. They were cooked to perfection and truly amazing. The server assistant (I forgot her name) was extremely attentive and engaging. The manager, Michael O'Heir, stopped by the table several times and was professional and entertaining. Thanks to all the staff and Mr. O'Heir for a magical evening. We will definitely be returning.More
