Rudee's on the Inlet welcomed its rst guest on March 17, 1983, in what was originally designed to be a bait & tackle shop. Since that day, Rudee's has grown to become one of the most popular restaurants and night spots at the Beach. Housed in a replica of an authentic Coast Guard station, the Restaurant & Cabana Bar has grown to include our outside deck with our popular "glider seating" over the water and seasonal re pit tables. Kick back, relax and have a great time. We hope you enjoy our delicious, fresh seafood, specialty drinks and the beautiful sunsets over Rudee Inlet.

Great food!
The service was a little slow, as we were not greeted for a while, our table was not very clean, we told server when he approached and he went to call bus boy who never came. Finally he wiped down table, the sanitizer and rags were about 4 feet away
Anyway food was very good fresh crab bite sand cakes very good, love the tender fried calamari dipped in volcano sauce a real treat. Others had burgers everyone enjoyed there meal
Valet parking, in a crowded town is a plus, most employees were student age serving was a temporary job, definitely worth the trip

We ate outdoors on the "new" patio next to the old restaurant - there is a floating outside dining area and bar that looks great as well. The ambiance consists of very large, high end private fishing boats with do one around. The food was excellent for a dockside restaurant without fine dining pretentions. The service was also excellent, and prices are reasonable. There is parking, just enough now with COVID restrictions on the number of diners that they did not need the valet for lunch on a Monday end of season.

Went for an early dinner on the outdoor patio and had great service from Tara. Loved eating at the marina on a beautiful June evening. Started with a basket of yummy hush puppies and a round of signature cocktails. Next came an unspectacular spinach crab dip and tasteless oysters on the half shell. Next came steamed clams (teeny, tiny but tasty) and scrumptious cajun scallop appetizers. Each couple shared a bowl of decent she crab soup which is great as a dip with a basket of saltines. The kids were happy with cheeseburger slider baskets. Wish we would have opted for the soft shell crabs or crabcakes...

We ordered seafood, chicken sandwich and burgers, all was great. Very fresh shrimp both peel and eat my oldest son loved, he said they where great. The lightly battered and fried local shrimp where great as well, my only issue was that th slaw had what tasted like celery seed in it and that made it not taste very good, but other than that very good.
The gliding dinner tables where very interesting, they where relaxing while gliding before dinner arrived.
Service was good, little slow at times on drink refills but otherwise good.
The Restroom was exceptional clean and maintained.
I forgot to mention, location in this case made for great scenery and surroundings, peacefully quite on the Rudee Inlet Waterway.
I was very impressed with the restaurant overall; food, service, restaurant location and cleanliness.

Seafood portion sizes are a small bowl for $30
I had to spit the chicken out twice for grizzle.
We ungraded our side for $2. It was literally 8 skinny overcooked asparagus. Ambiance and service was good. We may be back for drinks. Food was pretty terrible and expensive!! Don’t eat here!!!!!

The location is great and we opted for outdoor dining. The deck to the left, as you face the water, has better views. We started with hush puppies and the bang bang cauliflower. It was very good. Kids had fish bites and the adults had the flounder, blackened for 2 of us, one fried. Very fresh and well prepared. The garlic mashed potatoes were great as a side. The key lime pie was delicious. Service was great.

Every time we come to Virginia Beach we go to Rudee’s for dinner and they did not disappoint. We watched the fishermen cutting up the tuna that they caught today on our way in. The scallops are oysters wereout of this world. The best place in town any time of year.

Used to eat here for every summer trip and haven't been to VA Beach in about 10yr. SUPER DISAPPOINTED this time. They didn't appear crowded but our waitress was definitely overworked and busy. It took forever to get our food and then 6 out of 8 of our party said entrees (fried shrimp, broiled scallops, Mahi, lobster roll, fried platter) were bland and tasteless. Scallops and calamari were rubbery. We won't have to try this again!!!

Our family group of 5 went out to Rudee’s, waited for an outdoor swing table, not long
Waitress took our oyster Rockefeller orders. They were excellent. Then our large fresh salads arrived, then our main meal selections. I had the Jumbo spiced with old bay shrimp, my wife had the largest bowl of just crab meet we had ever seen. No cracking, just added butter. Grand daughter had a pasta dish with different seafood. Every one enjoyed their meals.

Great service in all aspects, both the bar and waitstaff were phenomenal in addition to the fact that the hosts seated us rather promptly. Food & drinks were outstanding. Buddie has clams/crablegs as well as an order of chicken fingers (even though there was more sauce than fingers). I had french onion soup as an entree (not appetizer), an dit most certainly did not disappoint. Sider table seating was wonderful as per usual!

Four of us stopped for an early dinner Friday evening. I expected the after work crowd but there were plenty of empty tables inside and out. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the perfect evening weather. When it started getting chilly they did light the heaters and it got toasty quickly. Appetizers were the smoked fish spread which was not the best recipe I've ever had. Crumbly. The amount was basically an ice cream scoop and not really enough for the crackers served. Disappointing. The hush puppies, however, were hot and wonderful! The two guys got the standard fried seafood platter served everywhere and they made short work of the platter. I got a cup of crab soup and shrimp tacos. The tacos were okay and I ate most of them with a fork but they had a lot of raw onions under the shrimp that ruined the overall dish. The soup came out nice and hot as I had requested. There was a definite crust of perhaps Old Bay on the top that got mixed in and made it pink. However, not only did I have trouble finding any crab, the soup had the consistency of thick country gravy. LOTS of extra flour in that recipe! Yuk. 2 bites and I had had enough. Our server was absolutely super. Very pleasant and eager to help. Prompt service with a nice smile throughout. Basically, the restaurant and location are great. They just need to improve some of the recipes.

Chose this place because Food Network had rated their Oysters Rockefeller as outstanding. The parking situation is very bleak, we happened upon a spot right before the Valet stand, I was willing to just leave when I saw valet that was struggling to keep up, but based on location can’t fault them for that. We ate inside, very clean. The outside cabana looked awesome as well. I got the broiled dinner which was oysters Rockefeller shrimp scallops crab cake and flounder and 2 sides. The oysters were fabulous, only a portion of 3, wish I’d have just ordered a dozen of them from appetizer menu. The rest of the food was overdone, tartar sauce was not good, baked potato was almost still hard. Others in my party enjoyed the french fries and the chicken alfredo was plentiful and tasty. I think this restaurant is just too big and menu is big and sometimes the quality of food suffers when that happens. Glad I tried it, can’t say I’d return.

My party of 6 arrived shortly after 5pm on a rainy Tuesday evening. There wasn’t any wait although shortly after we were seated, more people came in and almost all the tables were filled. Natalie was our server. She was very friendly.
All of the following were tasty and a good sized portion: hush puppies, bowl of she crab soup, seafood pasta, shrimp tacos, fried fish sandwich, crab cake sandwich, and pound of crab legs.
Have been coming for years and would return in the future.

We arrived yesterday for lunch and asked for a table for 3 outdoors. We indicated to the hostest that we were having a meal but a 4th would be joining later just for a drink. At that time, she refused to seat us until the other person arrrived. Tables were not full at all. She said we were free to sit at the bar but tables had to be reserved with full parties. Again, I explained that we were a party of 3 who would be ordering food and drinks with another to join much later. She was beyond rude. When questioned again, she said fine, walked us to a table and tossed the menus on the table. I was appalled at the behavior. Our waitress arrived shortly thereafter, and was extremely delightful and helpful. The food was really good and hot. Crab balls were good and the lobster roll contained a good amount of lobster. However, the cocktails were watered down. Not sure I will go back on my next visit to VA Beach.

I ordered steamed shrimp, and I tried a few. The few I tried tasted good;however, I then noticed that the shrimp were not deveined. This took away my appetite, and I didn't want to eat the rest of the shrimp. I learned that they do not devein the shrimp at Rudee's. Then, I tasted the crab cake sandwich I ordered and the crab cake was very dry. The waiter was very nice and understanding and tried to go out of his way to make things right. He took back the shrimp and crab cake sandwich and removed those items from my bill. Then I ordered broiled scallops and they tasted like parsley and were very bland. The best part of the meal was the fries and Cole slaw. At that point, I was very frustrated. I felt like sending those scallops back also, but did not since I had already sent two items back. My wife's meal was good but mine was horrible. Including tip, I spent over $82 for a terrible meal. That's what I get for not going to Waterman's. Don't waste your time going here. Go to a place like Waterman's instead.
