About
Rudee's on the Inlet welcomed its rst guest on March 17, 1983, in what was originally designed to be a bait & tackle shop. Since that day, Rudee's has grown to become one of the most popular restaurants and night spots at the Beach. Housed in a replica of an authentic Coast Guard station, the Restaurant & Cabana Bar has grown to include our outside deck with our popular "glider seating" over the water and seasonal re pit tables. Kick back, relax and have a great time. We hope you enjoy our delicious, fresh seafood, specialty drinks and the beautiful sunsets over Rudee Inlet.

Used to eat here for every summer trip and haven't been to VA Beach in about 10yr. SUPER DISAPPOINTED this time. They didn't appear crowded but our waitress was definitely overworked and busy. It took forever to get our food and then 6 out of...8 of our party said entrees (fried shrimp, broiled scallops, Mahi, lobster roll, fried platter) were bland and tasteless. Scallops and calamari were rubbery. We won't have to try this again!!!More

We visited Rudee's because it used to be a favorite spot when we were growing up but were really disappointed by how much it's gone downhill! At least a half hour wait for drinks and over an hour for food service. Food was then mediocre....Sadly, worst dining experience of our trip.More

Looking for a good happy hour and seafood look no further!! Clams and oysters were awesome and had a good choice of drinks. Was really cool to sit where we could see the jet skis and boats as they were coming and going.

Rudee's is located along Lake Rudee in the oceanfront area of the city. They are pretty much at the corner of Winston Salem Ave. (can access from Pacific Ave.) and Mediterranean Ave. My most recent visit here was on January 31, 2021, which was the...beginning of the 2021 Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. When you come up to the place, it reminds me of a view like a fishing village. There is seating available inside, outside and on an outside patio looking over Lake Rudee. The weather on this visit was not ideal for outdoor seating, so all seating was indoors for this occasion. Once we came inside, we were immediately greeted and seated. We ended up getting seated at an area inside looking over the patio and Lake Rudee, so it was a great view, even though the weather was not as good. At the time of this visit, Covid protocols were still in full effect. Masks required for everyone and could only take them off while seated at the table. They did a good job of socially distancing the tables as well. After being seated, it took a little while for our server Zach to come to the table. It was no big deal as it was steady busy in there, but they did seem to be understaffed, which has been common in restaurants this year. He asked us what we wanted to drink. Shortly after, we got the drinks and asked if we were ready to order. We knew what we were getting already, as we looked at the 2021 RW menu ahead of time. I went with the she crab soup as the appetizer, followed by the crab cake dinner as the entrée with fries and applesauce as the sides. My mom got the shrimp dinner with red potatoes and potato salad as the sides. A few minutes after ordering, the She Crab Soup came to the table that I chose as my appetizer. The She Crab Soup was really good. It is definitely one of the better She Crab Soups I have had over the years. About 10 minutes after that, the entrées came out to the table. The food came out hot and looked really good. In the end, the food was great for both of us. The crab cakes were awesome and so were the shrimp that my mom had. The last course as a part of the restaurant week was the dessert. For the dessert, I went with the Peanut Butter Pie, which was great. Overall, this was a very good experience. The food was great. They have lots of seating, lots of options to choose from the main menu, and they have a locals special that's valid year round. If you're visiting the oceanfront or want to get away from a bit of the crowds at the beach, take a quick drive here for a good lunch or dinner. I will definitely be back myself.More

This restaurant gives you multiple choices of traditional Chesapeake seafood. Plenty of outdoor seating. A traditional must visit for us whenever we go to Virginia Beach

We ordered seafood, chicken sandwich and burgers, all was great. Very fresh shrimp both peel and eat my oldest son loved, he said they where great. The lightly battered and fried local shrimp where great as well, my only issue was that th slaw had...what tasted like celery seed in it and that made it not taste very good, but other than that very good. The gliding dinner tables where very interesting, they where relaxing while gliding before dinner arrived. Service was good, little slow at times on drink refills but otherwise good. The Restroom was exceptional clean and maintained. I forgot to mention, location in this case made for great scenery and surroundings, peacefully quite on the Rudee Inlet Waterway. I was very impressed with the restaurant overall; food, service, restaurant location and cleanliness.More

Great service in all aspects, both the bar and waitstaff were phenomenal in addition to the fact that the hosts seated us rather promptly. Food & drinks were outstanding. Buddie has clams/crablegs as well as an order of chicken fingers (even though there was more...sauce than fingers). I had french onion soup as an entree (not appetizer), an dit most certainly did not disappoint. Sider table seating was wonderful as per usual!More

Great atmosphere, located on the water (inlet). Great outdoor dining options with Covid. We sat at a table with a Fire Pit top. They also have swinging tables covered by canopies. They also have an indoor restaurant. Food was very good and service was great....I got the seafood tortellini which was excellent. My wife got the filet. It was good but a tad bit dry. Waitress was kind, attentive and provided good suggestions. We will go back.More

Great food, great service and great view. Perfect end to our vacation. Crab cakes are amazing. The vegetable melody that goes with entrees is very good, and I am not a vegetable person. We had a wonderful server. I hope we have her again when...We come backMore
