About
Rudee's on the Inlet welcomed its rst guest on March 17, 1983, in what was originally designed to be a bait & tackle shop. Since that day, Rudee's has grown to become one of the most popular restaurants and night spots at the Beach. Housed in a replica of an authentic Coast Guard station, the Restaurant & Cabana Bar has grown to include our outside deck with our popular "glider seating" over the water and seasonal re pit tables. Kick back, relax and have a great time. We hope you enjoy our delicious, fresh seafood, specialty drinks and the beautiful sunsets over Rudee Inlet.

Four of us stopped for an early dinner Friday evening. I expected the after work crowd but there were plenty of empty tables inside and out. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the perfect evening weather. When it started getting chilly they did light...the heaters and it got toasty quickly. Appetizers were the smoked fish spread which was not the best recipe I've ever had. Crumbly. The amount was basically an ice cream scoop and not really enough for the crackers served. Disappointing. The hush puppies, however, were hot and wonderful! The two guys got the standard fried seafood platter served everywhere and they made short work of the platter. I got a cup of crab soup and shrimp tacos. The tacos were okay and I ate most of them with a fork but they had a lot of raw onions under the shrimp that ruined the overall dish. The soup came out nice and hot as I had requested. There was a definite crust of perhaps Old Bay on the top that got mixed in and made it pink. However, not only did I have trouble finding any crab, the soup had the consistency of thick country gravy. LOTS of extra flour in that recipe! Yuk. 2 bites and I had had enough. Our server was absolutely super. Very pleasant and eager to help. Prompt service with a nice smile throughout. Basically, the restaurant and location are great. They just need to improve some of the recipes.More

I enjoyed the side salad, seemed fresh; although you had to pay an extra $1 for bagged shredded cheddar cheese (barely a sprinkle at that). Catch of the day, flounder (fried), was mushy; definitely seemed pre-frozen. If that was the fresh catch it was caught...last week at best. They were all out of all of their potato dishes except fries, which I’m sure came from the freezer. Tried the soft shell crab as an appetizer, it was tough like the outer membrane had not been removed.More

I took my wife of 43 years out to lunch for her birthday. I wanted a seafood restaurant preferably on the water. Rudee’s Restaurant and Cabana Bar fit the bill. We started with a cup of she crab soup. Most delicious! My wife ordered shrimp...tacos and I had fried shrimp with coleslaw and french fries. Out server, Camille was most pleasant and attentive. We sat near a group of retired teachers that have lunch once a month. I could not help but think about my algebra teacher, Mrs. Jones who challenged me to work hard and to get serious about my education while I was attending Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach. I will be eternally grateful for her encouragement. I digress. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. My wife really enjoyed her Key Lime pie. They were out of candles. Hopefully my wife will remember her birthday lunch.More

Had an excellent meal at Rudee’s while in Virginia Beach. Expected a significant wait but since we did not need to sit anywhere in particular we were seated immediately. Drinks were good and appetizers were yummy. I had blackened mahi-mahi, hubby had soft shell crab,...daughter had seafood pasta, and son had blackened tuna nachos. Staff was friendly and attentive.More

Service was good, as well as the atmosphere. However, the lump crab cake dinner left much to be desired. Crab cakes were mostly filler with very little lump visible, the red skinned potatoes were hilarious with two miniature tots, and the broccoli was mostly stalk...with a lazy presentation.More

Family of 6 - two generations - We were able to get an outside table on a Friday night. All of the food was great . My lobster roll was ALL lobster - no sauce or seasonings that I sometimes dislike. It was like ordering...lobster with all of the hard work already done and put in a bun. Other meals that were ordered included she crab soup Sandbridge seafood pasta with alfredo sauce. I do not handle swinging seats. We ate at the out door patio. Good service. Valet parking. On the water.More

I have been coming to Virginia Beach for 30+ years and have never eaten here. After eating here this weekend, I am asking myself why have I never been here before. The food was delicious. Two of us had the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab roll...and one had the lobster roll. All were very good and the prices were reasonable. The server was very attentive and we enjoyed our meal very much.More

My husband and I ordered crab cake sandwiches without the buns so we didn't fill up on useless calories. We ordered one fried and the other boiled. Should have ordered both broiled. The sweet potato fries were the best I have ever eaten. It was...too breezy for my husband outside, so we moved inside. The swing-set tables are difficult for people with mobility issues to get in and out of. Out waitress was not attentive. She started out fine but then completely neglected us; I had to track her down to get drink refills and waited along time before we were brought the check. She didn't apologize nor act appreciative of our business.More

Not convinced this was a good choice based on reviews/ratings. Hubby had eaten here a long time ago. First time for me and I was impressed!! Molly was a patient waitress while we took a while making decisions and asking questions. The Oscar Benedict was...out of this world! All of the flavors blended so well together. Sipped on 2 Marina Mimosas which were yummy! We had fried scallops as an app and they were tasty too! Will definitely return!! Enjoy folks!More
