This is a place featured on Diners,Drive ins, and Dives. We went there tonight expecting good food and we were not disappointed. I had the seafood platter and it was great. Sometimes with fried food different items can end up tasting the same but each...thing on the platter was an individual. I would certainly order it again.More
We had a short trip to Virginia Beach for the first time and heard from a friend that this was great seafood spot. We ordered 2 of the oysters rockafellar as appetizers and they were great! Definitely recommend! For entrees we had 2 orders of...the half & half shrimp and scallops both fried and boiled and the beef and sea. Steak was cooked at med. well as requested. The kids shared a chicken strips dinner. My husband thought the fried half and half was really good and he's really picky about fried seafood. It is a hole in the wall and looks worn but great food. Not sure if they were understaffed but we did wait a bit for things to be served at our table of 5. Despite the wait we would still recommend this place.More
We were traveling through Virginia Beach and found this gem by looking up Diners Drive-Ins and Dives restaurants. We had a late lunch; soft shell crab sandwich and turkey Rueben. The food and service were excellent. We would highly recommend this restaurant,. Outstanding menu tasting...like real home cookin' consisting of seafood, breakfast items and sandwiches. The sides were phenomenal (like old family recipes) You could just feel the pride of ownership here. Elizabeth was an outstanding server!!! Go there, you will not be disappointed.More
Place is dirty, outdated and run down. Food is without a doubt the worst I've had in Virginia Beach, and we've been eating all over town for over 12 years now and currently live here. I dont see what the hype is or how on...earth it was a DDD place. Crabcake sandwich was mush, all filler, cold and the cup of tartar sauce had been sitting so long it had a yellow skin over it. Lettuce was wilted, tomato unripe. She crab soup was thin and flavorless. Tasted like milk, flour and a few pieces of crab. Fish & Chips had a generous portion, but it was pollock and had no flavor. Server was attentive could care less otherwise.More
We decided to try them based on reviews and the fact they advertised curbside in the Covid situation. First they had me sign a CC receipt even though i gave them my card number on the phone. So what’s the point of curbside then? As...for the food it’s very average; the fries were soft and soggy. The shrimp was okay. I would not go here again.More
I have been going regularly to the Beach Pub for the last 10-12 years. I have eaten a variety of their fresh sea food. I have never been disappointed regarding the freshness, flavor, and preparation of the sea food. The other night I had the...fried clam strips-- they were the closet to the clam strips I enjoyed in New England. I highly recommend a visit and you can see for yourselfMore
After seeing this local restaurant promoting itself as having the best flounder in Virginia Beach -- and being a flounder fan -- well ... that calls for a visit.
My wife and I stopped by at lunch after a morning walk on the beach and...the flounder proved just as good as advertised. It's very fresh. As with any flounder, you have to watch for small bones, but it was not frozen, cooked to perfection, and very tasty.
At well under $30, including our drinks, we had a wonderful lunch -- great service and great food: Flounder, three-bean salad, fries, a corn muffin, and good hushpuppies.
They had an all-you-can-eat flounder special for dinner that evening so if those are your thing, you could call to doublecheck the day and availability.
Beach Pub is certainly not a fancy place but popular with the locals for obvious reasons. The service is great, the seating is comfortable enough, and the restaurant exudes character along with the food and folks. That it's tucked away (a short drive up from the beach) in a nondescript building and spot also means it's not overrun and crowded.
I loved looking at all the old photos on the walls and reading the stories. And it was fun to look up and see the old college football helmets on the wall by the bar, too.
Beach Pub was definitely the best meal -- and value -- of our trip.More
