We had a fun time fishing and couldn't believe how accommodating they were to our young grandchildren. I highly recommend these guys.

My husband and I just had a wonderful experience fishing with the Dockside folks. We caught lots of fish and our mate, Haley was oh so helpful and welcoming and just a lot of fun. We would not hesitate to go out with them again...the next time we are in town.More
Had a wonderful afternoon fishing on the Nancy Anne. Everyone caught fish and the crew was most attentive to us and our needs! A very pleasant experience on a clean boat with an excellent staff. I highly recommend these folks!
The ship hands were absolutely wonderful. They circled around the ship helping everyone with the bait and fish. This was the first time my twins, 14, and my youngest, 9, had ever been on a boat (all boys). They are definitely “princesses” so the deck...hands helped them so much. Both the young lady (a recent college graduate who just got a job as a special education teacher) and the young man were absolutely wonderful, and I am truly appreciative for their kindness, humor(she had the jokes!), and attentiveness they gave us. The captain tried to make sure we found/caught fish and the day was beautiful! The fish were small but, in our opinion, it was worth the money. We truly enjoyed the time out on the boat and loved the family time!More
Took my son and grandsons to Dockside after a morning of fishing and had an outstanding lunch on the dock by the water. Great food and service and a nice experience for all.
My sons and I went on a weekday morning fishing charter boat. The deck hands were awesome. (There was one male and one female.) They were very professional and educational about the area and the fish that we were catching. And we were catching fish...two at a time! It was the best fishing trip every. The boat was very clean and well stocked with snacks and refreshments. The captain was friendly and we enjoyed watching him walk around checking on the people onboard. We've been to Dockside for several years and this was one of the best trips ever! There was an office group of 16 onboard. There were also a family of nine (children, parents, and grandparents) from New Jersey and Texas. We all had a great time catching fish and enjoying a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend.More
So many issues here! Used to come here often as a local. Will never be back! Food came out cold, twice, after waiting over an hour! Appetizer came out with the entrees, so overdone, it wasn’t even edible. Server was beyond rude and made excuses...about everyone else when we addressed the long wait and food issues. That was only when we could actually find her. Had to repeatedly flag down other servers for assistance. Spoke to a manager that couldn’t care any less. Immediately after, the server came back to my table telling me that what I said to her manager was total BS! And on our way out, she came running out to the parking lot to complain about the tip! Super confrontational and unprofessional. Trash food, service, and management. Too many other good places to eat in the area to deal with any of this.More
They have a very loyal local following. Everytime we stop by the bar there is a group hanging out and talking about local news and events. This place has a very good selection of fresh seafood and always has more variety than most seafood locations....Today we had soft shell crab, local oysters, wahoo for my fresh catch and extra hushpuppies. They have a good selection of drinks with some local brews and a good variety of cocktails. Sitting outside watching the sunset over the bay is always a treat.More
We were looking into some sit-down eating options in the Virginia Beach area and saw that Dockside had some consistently good reviews. It was nice to see that they had a fresh market on-site so that everything was caught and prepared fresh. We entered the...parking lot around 5 pm on a Tuesday. The lot was pretty full…not because of the amount of cars…but moreso because the parking spaces were extremely tight…it doesn’t help when almost everyone has an SUV or Pickup truck. So there were lot of vehicles taking up two spaces and everyone was being extra care when maneuvering within the lot. After we parking safely in a far corner space, we entered the initial marketplace area. They seemed to have a wide variety of everything seafood…fish, shellfish, seasoning, etc… At that time they had started to put some things away…but some seafood was still out in the case. We made our way to the back and while there was a short wait for outdoor seating…there was no wait for indoor seating. (Outdoor seating is really nice since it is right on the water). Inside was pretty busy with server hustling all over. Our nice server took our drink and food order quickly. Our drinks were brought over immediately and food following soon after. We had a few things…shrimp, fish, scallops, and fries. Everything was really fresh and very good…but what stole the show was the crab cake…it was really some of the best I’ve ever had. Prices were very reasonable considering how expensive seafood can be. All staff we encountered were nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area craving seafood…I would love to return to try some other options and eat outside.More
I visit every year. Food is acceptable and reasonably priced Outdoor seating is lovely, and, the waitstaff is friendly and pleasant. However, I truly would like to know when this restaurant was last inspected by The Virginia Department of Health (VDH).???? I searched the VDH...site only to receive a "No File located." Even before Covid-19 protocols were put in place, short of Hazmat attire, I would not touch any door or counter unless I had a wad of tissues. The front door entrance and floors are just plain yucky. The two doors leading to the outside deck are filthy as well as the ramp between these two doors I would request Beer in a bottle only. No glass. I would never order a soft drink for fear the dispenser may be moldy. Lastly, oh my goodness! "Daddy, please pass the smelling salt." The bathrooms. YUK. I will continue to visit as the food is ok and the outdoor seating is really quite pleasant, especially during sunset.More
We had an order of scallops and an order of grilled chicken. My scallops were tender and flavorful with light breadcrumb and parmesan (they also offer a deep fried option). Portion was sufficient but not large. Grilled chicken was two good-sized pieces and companion said...it was tender, juicy and well-seasoned. Sides of hush puppies (good to this midwestern girl but we don't much about hush puppies in our neck of the woods) and potatoes which were well-seasoned. We both raved about the vegetable medley of cabbage, carrot, zucchini, broccoli, and green beans which were perfectly cooked tender-crisp. Service was prompt, efficient and pleasant.More
My daughter and I stopped at a restaurant called dockside. We ordered steamed shrimps and a side of french fries. Two glasses of Sauvignon blanc. The waitress , Rachel, was charming and very quickly we were served . The shrimps were not overcooked but large...and juicy and at our request were served wit h lemon and butter. The French fries were crispy and hot. My daughter knocked over her glass of wine and it was quickly mopped up. I commented that I though they should replace it and a few minutes later Rachel appeared with another glass of wine. I thought this deserved a 5* as the meal and service were 100%. We will be returning next week.More
I haven't been to Dockside in quite a while and that's my loss. The seafood is excellent as is the service. Best crab cakes in town, steamed and fried shrimp delish and I'm going for the soft shells next.
We had a nice dining experience at Dockside. I enjoyed a good Bourban Smash before the meal. We enjoyed the specials that included Shrimp Parmesian and Fried Black Sea Bass. Our waitress was Katarina and she did a great job.
4 adults and 2 kids and bill was $230…. A little expensive and only one drink per adult. Food was ok only warm when served not hot. Scallops were good but fish was very bony. Kids pasta dish was very al dente and kids didn’t...like it.More
