Went on a Saturday for family get together and the atmosphere, food and service were great. Big shout out to our server Alea. She was knowledgeable and did all she could to make our experience enjoyable. She is a delight. She made us feel like...we were at home. Will be returningMore

My wife and I have made it a point to visit Rockefeller’s every time (at least twice a year) we have visited Virginia Beach for the past five years. I have to say this is the first visit that we have been disappointed. To our...surprise they remodeled this past winter and revised their menu. I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie and flash fried chicken. My wife ordered the bacon BBQ shrimp and the lobster roll. I enjoyed the chicken and she loved the shrimp. Her lobster rolled tasted bad and had a foul smell to it. We brought it our server’s attention. He said he would let the chief know but nothing was done to correct the problem. Our next visit to Virginia Beach in the fall for my birthday will not include Rockefeller’s.More

In fairness, there may be some realities of availability that affected our experience. We arrived and were greated pleasantly by the folks we believe to be the owners/managers. They did ask if we'd been there since their renovations...we had not. Physically, the new decor is...attractive, and a bit more open than before, to our senses anyway. We were seated quickly and our waiter appeared promptly. The first hint of anything different in the food was the menu itself. Skimpy to say the least. Our favorite appitizer--the hot crab dip, which we thought was a signature dish--was missing. We opted for the calamari, and it was OK, but we thought a bit skimpy, even for the price (which we do understand). Our entrees were good, well-stuffed jumbo shrimp, reasonably portioned, the risotto was superb, but the glazed carrots were, at best, inconsistently cooked. A few were OK, a few soggy on the outside and nearly raw inside, a few were cold through and through. The meals were deivered without any cocktail or tartar sauces, for which we had to ask. The young lady who delivered the food, didn't know if they had any tartar sauce! They did, but it was devoid of flavor. We called it a night without dessert, not wanting another disappointment. We'll give it another try when we get to VA Beach again, maybe this fall. Maybe the issues will be repaired by then. I hope so; it has been a favorite for many years now. A side comment: We did notice that there were more choices for beer, wine, etc., than the food. I hope this is not a change in focus at what had been an excellent place to have a good seafood meal for a decent price.More

Thank you for your visit and I apologize for having disappointed you! Unfortunately, the cost of crab has more than tripled and we had pulled some items from the menu that had crab! I have received this comment from other customers and will re-consider adding...More

This was our first time visiting but it won’t be our last. We were a group if nine and no one had any complaints about their meal. The seafood was great, and the kids loved the ribs.

Interior is lovely with a open dining room plan, nice colors and textures. Bar area looks great but awkward placement of the glass rack at the end of bar closest to the window. The menu ( prior to the remodel) was wonderful so why the...changes? I wanted a bowl of She Crab soup, now you only offer a cup but was told "you can order two". Awkward. We ordered a dozen Oysters Rockefeller, Yum. My husband ordered the Brussel Sprout's, I wanted a small Caesar salad, nope, now you only do large size. We wanted another 9 Oysters Rockefeller but you only offer them in 6 or 12! Your menu says .99¢ each, all day "windsdays" so why can't customers order the number that they want? Now charging for cornbread? We're trying to understand. Yes, it's your business and you can do what you like but after the horrible last 2 years shouldn't you be making it easier for us to relax and spend $? We've been coming in for years and hope you'll change back to imposing less rules on your customers. We usually order desert but we're too busy last night shaking our heads to bother.More

We recently dined here during our first visit to VA Beach. The restaurant wasn’t busy on a Tuesday evening, so we were seated immediately by their friendly host. Our waiter greeted us then brought our drinks. My husband ordered their salmon with dill sauce. It...was delicious. I decided to try the Cauli-cakes. I thought they might be seasoned with Old Bay, but the taste was bland. Perhaps a dipping sauce would have helped to up the flavor. I enjoy trying new things, but I wouldn’t order them again. I did enjoy the red skin potatoes and vegetable medley that was served with the cauli-cakes. And their cornbread is so good. Overall, the service and ambiance was great.More

This restaurant was a huge surprise. The ambiance was great and right along the water overlooking the fishing boats. Our waiter Shaun was engaging, well versed in the menu and wiling to share his opinions. We had the crab cakes, Caesar salad with fresh tuna,...and the seafood trio. Everything was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. I had the Bibb salad and can honestly say it was one of freshest and tastiest salads I have eaten in quite some time. But save room for dessert - the chocolate mousse was outstanding and a large portion. The house made Key Lime Pie was delicious.More

The host, Phil was rude and did not acknowledge our 15+ party when we arrived. Several of my party arrived and acknowledged the reservation and was told to wait outside until the whole party arrived. I arrived a few minutes later and was told by...Phil he wouldn't seat us until everyone is there. I told him we were all here and he just pointed to a group of tables and said "your over there". This is buffet style accommodations not a supposed fine dining establishment with reservations booked several days in advance. He never showed any friendly hospitality the entire 2.5 hours we were there. That's for starters. The food was subpar as best. The photos of the menu items were not remotely representative of the delivered entrees that were both cold and unseasoned. I've eaten here in the past which prompted my reservation but will not return. In addition, I watched a staff member prep tables for the next day and she did not wear gloves and placed clean bowls on the table, then proceeded to run her fingers through her hair and then put her hands back inside the bowls. She dropped several bundled utensils on the floor that had not been swept or cleaned and proceed to place the bundles on the table with the same bowls. Finally as we left the restaurant, Phil still did not offer any words of hospitality or thanks. For a near empty restaurant on a Wednesday night, I would have expected more courtesy and hospitality.More

Rockafellers is a great dining location for singles, couples and families. On the water location is a plus but the food and drinks combined with very affordable pricing will get our business again. Madison took great care of us at the bar and surprised us...by remembering exactly what we had ordered on our last visit! We were" welcomed back" by the owner and two servers! Oysters Rockefeller are consistently delicious as are the soups, Caesar salad and we'll, everything we've had. When we're in VA Beach for 4-5 nights we always eat there at least twice.More

The atmosphere was relaxing and somehow more diner-type than a restaurant, but the food was definitely fine restaurant quality. Their oysters Rockafeller ( Fresh oysters, spinach, bacon and cheese baked until bubbly) were out of the world! So was their Shrimp and crab quesadilla plate....I also enjoyed the Rockafeller's Trio (jumbo lump crab cake, bay scallops, and shrimp, dusted with the house spice blend and broiled in drawn butter). The waitress was corteous and prompt, keeping in touch continuously for our needs (I love coffee refills while I eat). Great experience.More

My husband and I are locals and have been going to Rockafeller's for years. We have always considered this restaurant a place to go to for great food, great service and a relaxing atmosphere. I have never written a review, however, when we were there...this month, Christopher W. (our server), did something that just warmed my heart. After coming by and taking our drink order, he then came back with a bowl of water for my husband's service dog. That just warmed my heart. Christopher was friendly, attentive and made an already great visit even better.More

This was my favorite restaurant when I visited Virginia Beach but most dishes I used order and enjoy are now off the menu (Stuffed Flounder, Filet Oscar, Crab Norfolk, Twin Lobster special) so the menu is reduced, which I could understand for COVID, but I...gather this shortened menu is now the norm. Oysters Rockefeller were delicious as usual, mains were tasty enough, Valerie the server was very pleasant and upbeat but for me something was missing. Did not have that old feel about it.More
