Well...this place was highly recommended so we went. However, my guest and I were both disappointed. The meal (kind of pricey) was not all that good...it wasn't bad but it just wasn't great and wasn't worth the price...I ordered a daily special so it was a bit more costly. The waitress spoke so fast that I couldn't hardly understand her... More

Had the Red Snapper on s risotto with pesto. Delicious. I will be back! Quaint cottage location. Friendly staff. Good wine list. Many other enticing choices on the menu and specials.

So glad we found this little gem in Virginia Beach. Excellent locally caught seafood and great service. She-crab chowder, blackened tuna, shrimp and grits and key lime pie were just some of our favorites. A MUST try restaurant if you are in the area!!!

Love the atmosphere at this place! Had a great martini at the bar while we waited for a table. It's loud and you're crammed in but it adds not detracts from the experience. The food was INCREDIBLE. I had a beet quesadilla special that was out of this world! The nachos were devoured by our table. Will come again for... More

We had eaten breakfast at Doc Taylor's - sister restaurant next door - in the morning and thoroughly enjoyed our delicious breakfast on the sunporch, so we decided to try Tautogs for dinner. It was not nearly as good. We thought our food was very ordinary to poor. The she crab soup was "OK," the salad was "OK," my husband's... More

We sat at a small table near the fireplace- perfect for the first cold nite of the season. The shrimp was fresh and Carolina sweet and the grits thick and cheesy. The swirls of house barbecue sauce was bit hotter than I expected but full of flavor. Our waiter was attentive and knew his menu. We will definitely return on... More

Fresh tuna and flounder in pastry bag excellent!!! Rice pilaf okay. Once ordered food came out fast. Reasonably priced with nice size portions. Very busy. We ate on the porch, very loud!

Tautogs is a seafood resturant one street from the boardwalk and beach that is a favorite of locals. It is in an old beach cottage with screened porch renovated for use. There is almost always a wait. Reservations only for very large parties on the porch, where there is no air conditioning in the summer. They serve soup, salad, seafood... More

I travel a lot for work and often find myself dining alone. I found Tautogs to be intimate without being stuffy and was quite comfortable with a table on the balcony. I am a seafood lover so while at the beach looking for fresh catch. I ordered the blackened tuna and it was just ok. Nice fresh fish but on... More

I ate here tonight and Jessie took great care of me. The Bowl of She Crab Soup is what I started with and it was the best I ever had in my entire life. Then I ordered the Flounder baked in parchment stuffed with crabmeat that was Amazing. There is a great reason why this restaurants is tops in the... More
