So my husband and I found a new place not far from home. Nestled in the middle of a rather elaborate golf course. It very quiet, as Monday evenings in a restaurant tend to be. The decor is charming and very simple; aiming for upscale....Our waitress was attentive; didn't have to wave her down, nor did she hover or interrupt our conversation. Now, having said all of that, the food was not bad. The premade pasta salad was a little dry. The Alfredo pasta was over cooked. The grapefruit mojito was a very light on the booze (I guess that's to be expected for the special of the night). The burger was cooked JUST the way he wanted and it wasn't absurdly big. He absolutely loved the french fries. The root beer was super seltzer-ry. I love, love, love a super seltzer soda! Nope, it wasn't expensive - less than $40 We are on quest to eat at a new place once a week, so we won't go back this year, but it is definitely a place to go for "somewhere else" to go.More

Out of the way, quiet and located on a golf course. Serving size is plenty. Every thing from burgers to upscale with reasonable prices. We had a huge pork chop and a very big chicken fried steak, both with sides. Excellent food and service.

I am so impressed with the new owners and the quality of food, service, and atmosphere at the freshly-opened Virginia Grill. The whole place has such a good vibe with new carpeting that helps with acoustics, fresh paint, simple decorations, and a casual chic atmosphere....The food is locally sourced, which was a huge plus for us. Not only are they supporting our local community, but they are offering top-quality food. Tonight, we started by enjoying the heirloom tomato and goat cheese appetizer - incredible! For dinner, my husband had the tomahawk pork chop that I tasted... it was amazing! I had the Dark Quarter chicken dish with sweet potato polenta at the recommendation of our server- she was right- it was delicious! The polenta was something I wasn’t sure about, but I am so glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone and tried it! We finished up with a pumpkin crisp that was so smooth and spiced just right. Other dishes I plan to try in the future include Mamaw’s Fried Steak and the fish and chips, among others. They have a good variety of choices in both food and beverages, so you can’t go wrong! Bottom line, if you weren’t excited about the previous restaurant, please don’t let that keep you from giving Virginia Grill a chance; you’ll be glad you did!More

If I could 0 stars I would. We ordered fried pickles, eggplant parm, a house salad, and kids spaghetti. We placed this order online and was told to pick up our order in 25 minutes. No problem. My husband gets there and the food is...not ready. Well turns out it was never started. Then someone comes out to let us know they have no eggplant for the eggplant parm. They asked to substitute. We are vegetarians so there is nothing else that would have worked so they offered to double the amount of spaghetti. I’m not trying to pay 18$ for spaghetti but no compensation was offered. My husband had to wait 30 MINUTES for spaghetti and salad to be made. By that time he’s just trying to get back home. Low and behold when we get home we discover the minimal fried pickles which were cold had no dip as decribes and did not taste good at all. The doubled spaghetti was a joke not that it looked or tasted appetizing. We had one small I’m assuming side salad with no salad dressing. We were missing an entire salad. Also it is described with entrees that you get a side salad, potatoes, and veggies. We did not receive any of these items either. My husband calls the manager to inform him of this. He said “come back in and we will make it right.” Well we are not trying to go back so my husband asked for a full refund to which the manager said, “ you ordered online I can’t give you a refund. It’s a third party you’ll have to go through them.” Which is strange because it shows up on my credit card as 501 bar and grill. So end of story we will never make the mistake of ordering from there for tasteless food and poor service. It’s not like they were even busy inside,so literally no excuse.More

We ate here on 21 August, 2020. We were hoping for a nice casual meal on the outdoor deck, and to listen to the live music. The beer was good, the appetizer (bacon scallops) was good, the music was good, the entre was another story....We chose the chicken cordon bleu, and were sorely disappointed. The food arrived "slightly warm" and the chicken was mostly inedible, interweaved with cartilage and or some other hard un-chewable substance I had never seen in chicken before. We brought this to the attention of the manager, who did what he could to make it right. The server was also, mostly absent, and in attentive. We had to specifically ask for everything, drink refills, plates, and waited, and waited after every request, After dropping off the check the server never returned to run our credit card, and we had to go in and find the hostess, who had to track down the server. I felt like I was an inconvenience to this restaurants staff, and probably will not return until I can sit inside at the bar for service, and will stick to apps, drinks, and simple sandwiches.More

We went to 501 Bar & Grill for lunch and the casual atmosphere, although very pleasant, did not prepare us for such a delicious lunch! Blackened salmon as an add-on to the house salad was delicious, and my husband’s gave a rave review of the...Oysters Rockefeller sandwich! Highly recommend you try this place if you are in the Williamsburg area.More

Tried the restaurant a second time because the first was a disaster! Service was much better but the food was still nothing to get excited about - I would never get the crab cakes again ( mostly filler with a little crab) - May go...back next year.More

Had a late lunch after a great round of golf at this beautiful course. I ordered the corned beef Reuben and it was amazing... totally off the chain! The service was friendly and the view from the deck of the 18th was amazing! Love the...new horse shoe bar it is huge and John the bartender was really helpful. Our experience here was so much better than the ratings! We came here with friends for lunch and all of us had an excellent experience! My wife and I both had the Patty Melt, mine with onions and my wife's without. The side of fries...was also great--hot and crispy! The house pinot grigio was very good. Our server Angela was very good as well. We had a window table overlooking a beautiful view of the golf course. We'll definitely return here.More

Well, we really hate having to rate this place so low but there is no other alternative based on our recent experience. We are residents of Stonehouse and would like to see this fairly new restaurant succeed but we doubt it will. We went here...on "Stonehouse Appreciation" night. We were greeted promptly, shown to our table and given menus - we were the first diners to arrive that evening. So far, so good. However, that was the end of it. We sat for 20+ minutes - we timed it - with absolutely no one coming to take our drink order, food order, to ask if we were ready to order, NOTHING!!! Finally we just got up and left. This is not the first time we have had poor or slow service here but it IS the first time we have been completely ignored. The whole time this was happening the staff members (at or near the bar) were just chatting away among themselves - when they were not turning the lights on and off or adjusting the brightness (annoying in and of itself). It is a shame that this restaurant cannot seem to get it right. Their food is not bad (not fabulous though either). We finally left and went to Two Drummers where we were seated, got drinks, had our orders taken and got our food brought quickly - all almost within the 20+ minute time frame that the staff at 501 spent ignoring us. What a complete irony that this awful treatment occurred on "Stonehouse Appreciation" night!!More

First time here was disappointing. Second visit was slightly better but still not enough to make us want to go back on a regular basis. The location and building are so unique and different than anything else in the regional area that it could have...been an awesome restaurant. However, despite the cool location and beautiful exterior setting, the interior feels like an amateur restaurant searching for its identity. And while a restaurant atmosphere (lack of) can be overlooked when the food quality is really good and the prices are attractive, it doesn't work when you have mediocre food quality and menu prices that make you feel like you paid too much. Sadly, that's been our experience both times we came here. I hope they figure out how to make this restaurant better or sell it to someone who can create the kind of restaurant experience that makes you want to come back again and again.More

They still seemed to be working out the kinks being new owners. Wine was fine but a bit overpriced. Food was mediocre. Service was mediocre.
