Have stopped here now twice on college road trip visits. Friendly staff and homemade food. I never save room for the pies which look fantastic. Carolina pork, Turkey and chicken salad all got good review at my table.
Wonderful experience! I had liver and onions with gravy on the side, green beans, and mashed potatoes... superb! Others in our group had corned beef and cabbage, or Ruben sandwich. All the food was excellent , as was the service. The pies were the highlight...of the meal.... amazingly good! We sampled coconut cream and chocolate cream, and they were just delicious!!! Wish I lived closer to this restaurant... I would be there often!More
We had a great dinner here the first week of March. Food was excellent and Covid precautions of masks and social distancing were in place. We were very comfortable here and plan on returning the next time we are in Staunton.
Mrs Rowes has the best vegetable soup I have ever had at a restaurant. Served hot with a cornbread muffin-it beats the chain restaurants by a landslide! The pies have the prettiest meringue I’ve ever seen and the cookies are a handful!! This will definitely...become a must-stop for us when traveling to NOVA!More
Mrs. Rowe’s has been a favorite and much anticipated stop for many years as we traveled I-81. Our last visit was a disappointment. Two of us ordered chicken and dumplings (our usual). Tasted like something from a can, not home cooked. Flavor was terrible and...appearance was worse than taste. Neither of us could finish it. Sides tasted as if they were poured from a can and warmed. Meatloaf lacked home cooked flavor, Fried chicken tasted as if it was cooked early that morning or even last night and kept under a warming light for hours. If it had just been one entree that was bad, we could have excused it, but all entrees! Unfortunately, it was so bad that we have no desire to return. What happened to the home cooked, wonderful food we always enjoyed???More
While visiting our daughter in Lexington, Va, we were out and about yesterday, and on the recommendation of a friend, stopped at Mrs. Rowe's for lunch. The restaurant has been there since the 1940's, and upon entering you automatically get this "old time/old fashioned" nostalgic...feel in a good way. There's nothing fancy about Mrs. Rowe's in terms of the interior, and the menu is pretty basic, potentially because of Covid, but everything we had was great! It's sort of like eating in your grandmother's kitchen, with a list of entrees and sides to match. Just good old fashioned goodness, with nice service, at reasoinable prices. I would definitely return!More
My wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner close to our Hotel. We stopped in, not knowing what to expect. Your typical country restaurant, and everyone following protocol. Not much on the menu, but what we chose was enough for both...of us to split. Maybe not everything home made, but the presentation and the way everything was cooked went well for us. Not much of a beer selection, but wine was good. We left satisfied, and that is what it’s all about.More
We’ve been coming to Mrs Rowes for 20 years. We stay next door at the Best Western because of this place. Due to COVID-19 we got takeout and it was amazing as always. I’m sorry for not posting a picture but I was so hungry...I tore open my box and devoured my crab cake sandwich. Ohh so good. We’ll be back.More

We ordered it but when it was served it had very very little cheese sauce on it - I pointed it out to the waitress but she said it was the end of the pot & there was no more sauce- then why keep it on the menu?
