Mrs. Rowe's is a long time spot in Staunton. We went for a late lunch on a recent visit to the city hoping to find a good meal at a local spot. The fried chicken was flavorful, the mashed potatoes homemade, but the green beans were straight out of a can. Paying for a meal is awkward. You must pay... More

We got in just before closing and were afraid that we would be rushed. We shouldn't have worried. Our server was polite and helpful. We both had the special that night of fried oysters which were delicious.

This restaurant is no longer gourmet...I ordered fried chicken...the chicken was good, but the Mac n cheese was not eatable...tasted like burnt plastic, the green beans were canned, the salad was iceberg lettuce, wife's shrimp dinner was old frozen shrimp...the pies looked great but didn't want anything else with taste of Mac n cheese still in my throat...better to go... Mrs. Rowes is a locally owned business. Travelers and locals frequent here. The food is great. Green Beans cooked with ham. Good ole Lima beans. Spoon bread. It's a throw back to eating Sunday dinner at grandmas every day. Staff is pleasant and quick to provide whatever you need. The desserts are made fresh daily. The pies are to die... More

I have been coming here for years. It is a good place for breakfast nothing out of the ordinary. You can buy desserts made on premises to go which I have not done. Service a little slow my last two visits considering place not that busy. Food is good.

This restaurant was next to our hotel. We could walk to dinner, that was the reason we went. There were lots of seniors there. A bus came with a group before we left. The food was good, the waitress was nice. The pies looked amazing. My husband had peanut butter pie. We each had wine, the pours were plentiful.

Arrived and hostess was not in sight, waited 5 minutes for someone to add name to the wait list. Got a table after about 10 minutes later - so not too bad. After a bit of time placed an order for the 1/2 chicken with baked sauerkraut and from a selection of breads I choose the spoon-bread. After a wait... More

I had stopped here years ago on the way to a relief trip to Louisiana, but just recently stopped again for lunch. It was just as good as I remembered. I hate beef but the bacon cheeseburger was absolutely delicious! My parents adored the reubens as well! The only thing we weren't too much a fan of was the dry... More

The chicken strip salad with poppy seed dressing was very tasty. The chicken was light and flavorful. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. Portion was large! So full I couldn't order dessert. The minute steak sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy was to die for! The mashed potatoes were made from scratch . We ordered a side of spoon bread,... More
