How to survive February

We adore historic old inns of Virginia and the Layette certainly met the criteria. We met our daughter and son-in-law for a cold rainy February night. We met our host Alan who promptly escorted us to our rooms and lit the fireplace. He brought us a split of champagne to enjoy as we prepared for... read more

Our experience was specifically tailored to our group's need. We keep coming back each year because Alan and the rest at Lafayette continue to produce. Food is incredible, and the price is very reasonable. From small details like asking to have the fireplace running or decorating specifically to our liking, to changing the entire payment structure, we continue to enjoy... More

Good restaurant overall. The atmosphere is excellent... old inn/bed and breakfast style. Food seemed slightly overpriced for what you get. We did get personalized service from the server and chef though which was nice.

We worked with the Lafayette Inn to host a volunteer recognition banquet for our church. The planning could not have been easier. Alan, the proprietor, made scheduling, menu planning, and coordination of final details a breeze. Our guest were enthralled with the beautiful and unique location. The historic setting was only surpassed by the food. Every one of our guest... More

This is the third year that we have had our office Holiday Luncheon at the Lafayette Restaurant. We once again thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere (having our own room to ourselves), the holiday decorations and music, the tasty lunch, and not being rushed out. Alan and his staff really make sure that everything is perfect. This is why we have already... More

It was a great experience. Food was delicious and well-presented. My partner's crab cakes were outstanding, maybe the best she has ever had. My pork chop was perfectly prepared and fork tender. The broccoli side dish was steamed just tender. The entire experience was well worth the visit. And, the meal was an excellent value. This historic inn is a... More

What a wonderful experience. My wife and I traveled to the Lafayette Inn for an overnight stay in addition to enjoying the special 10 course meal. The dinner started at 5 PM and lasted for almost 3 hours. We started with a pre-meal taster course of salmon. Then onto the prepared meal. Each course was paired with a wonderful wine... More

Dropped in for late Sumday lunch - and was very happy we did. Good food and prompt service. Extensive menu making deciding hard was the only problem!

The inn is very conveniently located for winery tours, visiting historical sites in and around Charlottesville, driving the Skyline Drive or just relaxing. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need for your stay. The best part of the inn is the owner, operator, and Chef of the establishment, Alan Pyles. He is a wealth of information for your... More

We have eaten at the Lafayette Inn several times and have never been disappointed. For my birthday we had a group of friends as guests and ate in the private room. We had a set menu of several appetizers (the corn fritters and Southern Egg Rolls are fabulous!) with a choice of three mains. Once again, everything was excellent, including... More
