We stopped as we were passing through town. It is easy to miss it in an older strip shopping center. We were hoping to sit inside and eat, but decided not to since it was a very small dining area. My husband got the brisket sandwich with slaw and I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries and Mac and cheese. Everything was fresh and tasty. We both loved the original bbq sauce! Would come back if we could.

I stopped in for lunch on a weekday… As soon as I walked in I could smell the smoke and was happy! The lady working the front counter was very friendly and helpful and answered my many questions nicely, as I wasn’t sure what I wanted and what they were really known for. I opted for a brisket plate with baked beans and potato salad. The food took about 5 mins or so to be prepared, which was perfectly fine. Opening the clamshell container, I was happy with the bark and smoke ring on the brisket, but it did look a little dry and when I tasted it, it definitely needed the BBQ sauce that came with it. Regarding the sauce, it was their spicy sauce and it had a slight kick to it, but was more sweet than spicy. The flavor of the brisket was decent, not as smokey as I would have hoped. Regarding the sides – The baked beans had what looked like pork belly in in, but I didn’t taste any smoke from the meat in the beans. The beans were also the small, lighter colored beans. The overall flavor was decent. Regarding the potato salad, I typically don’t like pickle in my potato salad (or ANY salad), but I really liked the overall flavor of this potato salad, as well as the consistency! Overall, it was decent, I would definitely return, just try something different next time to see how they do other types of meats and sides.

Between 3 adults we had pulled pork sandwich, smoked chicken and ribs. All were fantastic! The sides were good also. I could have just eaten that Mac and cheese and been happy! If you are in the area and like bbq it is definitely a must!!

On a Saturday early evening we walk in. Only 1 person in waiting. Took 5 minutes to order 1/2 of brisket and three small sides(which are already ready). They said about a 20 minute wait. Over 45 minutes later, there are now 10 people in lobby. We are finally called for our order. Get home 5 minutes later. Sides were good, Brisket was cold and not at all as tasty as we expected. Sadly No plans on returning.

Not too "smoked" tasting, meat was fall off the bone tender! The decor is all military, police, fire, EMS so spoke to our hearts (Grandson is currently deployed and we own an ambulace company)

Tasty and home made. Its leaps and bounds better than the "other" BBQ place. Take out is a goo deal!

I love ribs. The ribs here are very thick, meaty and great! Our family averages a meal from here every week. As long as they keep cooking, I'll keep coming!

This little place has been right around the corner all the time. Very friendly and food was awesome, blows Mission Barbeque away, and they give veterans a discount, I'll be back!

When we are hungry for BBQ, we always look for a small, family run place. We found this one just south of Quantico. We were provided samples of the pork and brisket to help us decide. I had the brisket sandwich and my wife had the pulled pork. Great smoke, great flavor. There is a reason you don't see any chain BBQ restaurants close by. If I lived here I would buy it by the pound.

This is a veteran-owned business. The restaurant is small with no more than 8 tables. The bbq (pulled pork) is delicious and modista; no sauce required. They have a new side (jambalaya), which was delicious, as was the mac and cheese. Staff is friendly and very polite. My only suggestion is to work on faster service, as I waited 20 minutes for a pulled pork sandwich with two sides. To run around the issue, I suggest calling ahead to place an order. Glad to support this locally-owned business!

Searching for that fabled "hole-in-the-wall place" with phenomenal BBQ? THIS IS IT. Having lived in Stafford since 2001, my wife and I thought we had tried all of the local BBQ. We love great BBQ and will often travel to Q BBQ near Hanover for Tuffy Stone's best. We found Big Bad W BBQ on Trip Advisor and tried it on a rainy Thursday in late afternoon for dinner. Traffic was so heavy on route 1 that we had to well pass the restaurant then turn around to join the southbound flow. We worried about finding a seat in a small place but there was only one other person eating there - although several take-out orders were prepared. We ordered at the counter and the order-taker guided us through the menu. To try many items, we ordered a pulled pork sandwich with mac-and-cheese and slaw as well as a baby-back rib platter with potato salad and slaw. We also ordered a half-pound of pulled pork to try. Along with two fountain drinks, the bill was $33, low-average for BBQ. Our wait was about 12 min and our food arrived nicely plated. The staff added a small bowl of wolf beans and two spoons for us to sample. These were wonderful and we'll be ordering next time. The pulled pork was excellent and exceeded our experience with other area restaurants. It was pulled, not minced. The ribs were amoung the best we have had. They were very meaty, tender, moist, and had a large smoke ring. The rub was at once new with unique house spices, but still tasted familiar as our preference runs toward Kansas City and Memphis styles We tried the available regular and Kansas City sauces and liked both. We left with enough for a second meal. If we were to nit-pick, we could only say that the mac-n-cheese was over cooked, but not mushy. Another rater said the slaw was bland; verdict: not guilty.

Although we have lived in the Stafford area for awhile, we never knew Big Bad W’s was preparing the best, authentic BBQ we’ve had! Our daughter, who lives in San Diego, CA, surprised us with a home delivery from Big Bad’s today. I cannot emphasize how good the brisket is, not to mention the baked beans and potato salad. Give the restaurant a visit, or call for delivery. You will not be disappointed.

We brought a group of 8 here for a post-graduation lunch. It's a very simple looking place, but the food was delicious. This was just the pulled pork sandwich I've been craving! Choices of barbeque sauce - Kansas City was my favorite. Some of our party enjoyed the wolf beans (baked beans) and the brisket. Everyone was served healthy portions and loved every bit of it. On top of that, we could not have been treated more nicely. Everyone there did whatever they could to make us comfortable and happy. I need an excuse to travel back!
