I've been here many times. The food here is Southern American and casual with a little flair. Think Brunswick stew beside a gourmet salad, or a fried green tomato BLT. The baked goods and desserts are delicious. The service, however, is usually quite slow. Don't go here in a hurry. The owner clearly has a talent with food, but if... More

Was walking the stores on Main Street and had to stop here to get our fill of sugar. Didn't eat in, but it looked clean and will likely will return for lunch. The muffins, pies, cakes, breads and all that is right in the world, is on display for viewing and picking. Talk about delicious!

The restaurant is a pleasant country themed storefront on the main street of Smithfield. The chef put an interesting twist on things. The fried green tomato caprese salad was presented with sundried tomato pesto lime and balsamic vinegar sauce. It was delicious! Others in the party ordered Cajun shrimp with grits and crab cakes. Everyone was pleased.

I visited the Smithfield Gourmet Bakery and Cafe on two separate occasions in the past year. One occasion, with a group of friends was during a weekday for lunch. The second with my family was on a Saturday for lunch. The food was very good. (There are better restaurants in Smithfield if you are looking for exceptional food.) On the... More

What a great place to visit, with excellent food and servuce. We are locals and have never had a bad experience here. Just finished dinner here with prime rib, garlic mashed and steamed veggies....very delicious! Do yourself a favor and stop in here when in town!

I and 4 friends are boating and had stayed at Smithfield marina for the night. We walked the 5 minutes to enjoy both the sights of this beautiful town and a truly wonderful breakfast at this cafe. The menu was extensive and the bakery goodies, to include homemade breads, was fantastic. Well worth the short walk.

This is far more than a quaint cafe and bakery in historic Smithfield. I had the signature hamburger topped with pimento cheese & ham salad, my wife had Smoked Paprika chicken over Fettuccine with wild mushroom pecorino sauce with spinach and caramelized onions. WOW, it was a spectacular culinary delight. Ohhhh before I forget, definitely order the chips, they are... More

Had a fabulous lunch at this cafe. Wide choice of food available. The food was lovely, large portions and the fries were the nearest thing to homemade British chips I have had in the States. Took a selection of the muffins for breakfast the next day......to die for. Staff were really friendly and the place had a lovely atmosphere. Check... More

I am sorry that you could not get chicken salad on a particular day. We sell a Lot of chicken salad by the pound and on our wonderful fresh baked bread. Most people call ahead and reserve pounds ..We make it on a daily basis and if we are busy at lunch we have to have enough for our patrons... More
