We visited for lunch and ate in. The cook was friendly. The restaurant is a hole in the wall but worth trying. The prices were reasonable for the portion you get. There was some 1 hour curbside parking in front of the building.

Open 24 hours a day and in business since 1932. It is a local short order grill, absolutely nothing fancy but a fun place to go. Expect nice service and okay food at this Roanoke institution.

Good chili and tiny burger. My boys liked the hot dogs. This is a serious dive, but was an interesting experience sitting at the metal counter talking with the nice server.

One of a kind place that will leave a lasting and unforgettable impression on you. This is not the place for a large group traveling together.....the place only seats 10 at a time. It is known far and wide as THE place for a hotdog and conversation.

"Only In Virginia" led us here, best tiny restaurants in the state, that's an understatement! Unbelivable prices, character & characters are the cook-staff/servers! Rapid_fire! We think our entire diner experience (waiting for seats, order, service, eating, paying, next?) may have only been 13 minutes!! They do volume business, lots of traffic while we were there & have regulars.

The history and background is great, be sure to read up on it. I had the burger with and chili dog with. add in a diet coke. It was actually my breakfast for the day as it is open 24/7. I would do it again.

Small hole in the wall place to eat. The first time you walk in, you notice a sign on the wall -"we seat 1000 people, 10 at a time ".Good burgers, good hotdogs and good chili. Good food, cheap prices and an experience reminding you of your teen years in the 60'. Try it a least once, you'll be glad... More

The 1st time I had 2 mini burgers which I thought was good for the price. Was kind of tasty for the area. I went back again that same night for the same 2 burgers and a bowl of chili. The burgers was just bad not the same from earlier that day. And the chili taste so bad I threw... More

I like hole-in-the-wall spots, and Texas Tavern may just top the charts for not misrepresenting itself. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if you're hungry, you walk in, sit down, speak your order and receive it and some conversation for just a bit of cash. Burgers are good, perfectly cooked and topped well. They are not gourmet,... More

This tiny little place was interesting, the cooks were hilarious and in very good spirits. The egg sandwich was unique, simple, and quite good. I would definitely return here.

On Feb. 13Th, 1930 during the height of the great depression, I.N. "Nick" Bullington opened the 10 stool Texas Tavern and began serving its famous bowls of chile, hamburgers, hotdogs, and cheesy westerns. With a no frills atmosphere and the motto "Give the customer a fair shake" the Texas Tavern has become a landmark and a rite of passage for many locals and visitors alike. Known as "Roanoke's Millionaires Club",
it is still run by the same family, now in its 4th generation of ownership.
