My son and I stopped by the Roanoker yesterday for lunch. He had a club sandwich. It was available with white, wheat or rye bread. He chose wheat. It was a classic club in every way. It had three slices of bread and plenty of turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato. He said he wished there was a little more mayo,... More

We read about the Roanoker in Road food and decided that we would try it it was about 15 minutes from our hotel which was the holiday in express in Salem, VA. My husband have the turkey special which came over stuffing and with the choice of two sides he opted for the string beans and mashed potatoes and said... More

Came to this restaurant by recommendation from the motel manager. we were looking for a good "locals" place, not a chain. It was delicious!! Great variety on the menu and big portions. We would definitely go there again if in the area. It is not on the main thoroughfare, but worth the ride.

While staying in Roanoke, we went to dinner at The Roanoker. It seems to be very popular with locals and an older crowd. The menu is large with just about every thing you could have at home, on their menu. The portions are large and the service is very good. The food is good, but nothing spectacular. It is just... This is a traditional diner serving meat and vegetable plates. They also serve breakfast all day. Everything we ate was tasty! Definitely worth stopping in if you want a home cooked meal!

Good sandwiches and other classic, casual, American fare in a dining room that may remind you of eating in a very tidy home. Reasonably-priced children's meals in particular. To go meals available. Often simply decorated for various holidays. Much of clientele are regulars. Gift shop at entry has some pretty pieces--but some higher-than-expected prices, too.

I enjoyed my breakfast at the Roanoker. I cannot remember what the name of what I ordered, but I can tell you that you chose 4 items and then coffee was included. I had 2 eggs, scrambled, bacon, fried apples, and biscuits, along with coffee. It was excellent, and the biscuits did not disappoint. Waitress was good. I would definitely... More

On our recent visit to the Roanoker we felt they came up a little short of their usual excellence. The ambiance was okay, service was fine, and our entree (grilled chopped steak) was good - as it always is. On the downside, the salad was a little wilted and not as fresh as usual, and their bottled beer wasn't cold.... More

Got the garden salad with grilled chicken. Small portion of lettuce with very little chicken. Served on a large plate to make it LOOK big. Was suppose to come with radish and cucumbers. Two slivers of radish and one slice of cucumber. All of this for a high price of $7.99. Not worth it. Our waitress was grouchy. Meal was... More
