Everything was top-notch. the menu was interesting and well executed. The cocktails are also very good. I would definitely check out the bar here if nothing else.

I always enjoy either dining in (pre-COVID) or getting to go food from R&R. The food, drinks, and general ambience is great and the staff is always so nice. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at River and Rail. The food was perfection and our server, Jessica, is a real pro. The oysters, the ribs and the beet salad are among the most delicious we’ve had anywhere. Thanks, River and Rail, for raising the restaurant...bar in Roanoke.More

We had wonderful service in a casual, modern setting. As Salem is a small city, I did not expect to find this high quality restaurant! The food was delicious. Wine was excellent. My only negative was the cornbread was a little dry. I had the...banana pudding for dessert. I highly recommend it !More

This is an awesome place with great food, drinks and ambiance. Dined by myself at the bar and engaged with the staff - Nexious- in particular- he certainly knew his stuff and guided me through an amazing dinner. Thanks!

Arrived without a reservation at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Only one table was taken but we were told all tables were reserved. Offered a tall table or the bar. Took the tall table where the light above was so blinding that we had to move...the table a bit to make it tolerable. Asked it was possible to dim them a bit but was told that they were all on the same switch. However, later they were all dimmed-guess someone else complained. Slow service from the beginning. The waiter offered good red wine options and took our order. The wine came but almost an hour passed before our order finally arrived. I had the fried chicken which was quite good and my husband had the burger which was delicious. When the order came, he was told that the potatoes would be along shortly, but 15 minutes passed and I had to ask the hostess to have our waiter check on those. Explanation was fryer issues. We ordered a nice little dessert, chocolate cake with hazelnuts, cherries and ice cream. Delicous and very light. The food is good quality and creatively prepared. The prices are higher than they should be readily available ingredients. When we left at 7:00 p.m., those reserved tables were filling up. Another troubling thing which no restaurant should be guilty of: our server had an amazing overdose of very loud cologne. Part of eating in a good restaurant is the wonderful aroma of delicious food--not the smell of someone's chosen scent.More

This is my my favorite restaurant in Roanoke. The food is modern, sophisticated and oh so delicious. The hangar steak is the most tender and flavorful steak I’ve had (we get it almost every visit!). The food on the menu is so unique, we have...been blown away by their veal sweet bread, pork rinds, chicken liver mousse and their deviled eggs which are out of this world! I love that they change their menu so often too, no two trips here are the same. And if cocktails are your passion they have great ones too, one of my favorites was “The grapes of Wrath”. Lastly, the staff is so professional and polite. This is our go to restaurant if we are celebrating a special occasion or if we just want to impress out of town visitors; it never disappoints!More

Outstanding service and food. We had an errand to run in Roanoke and decided to make it an evening. It was pricy, but totally worth every penny. The food was ridiculously delicious, drinks were on point. And my not-of-age daughter had the best mocktails of...her life, which we learned later are made up on the spot by the bartender based on category that the server asks: citrus, sweet, or savory! I had pork, my hubs had beef and daughter had chicken. All phenomenal. The meals were enough, but we didn’t know that so we ordered sides too - beets, brussel sprouts & sweet potato. All to. die. for. We had to try desserts of course. Hubs got a chocolate something that he swears is the best dessert he’s ever had. Daughter & I shared an ice cream sampler with flavors like sesame nutmeg & chocolate mousse sorbet & cardamom & ginger. Absolutely ridiculous. Will definitely go back.More

This place seems to fill a niche where pricy food that is prepared fresh with local ingredients is the focus. We dined here for dinner recently and were really pleased with the creativity and freshness of our food. The Jar of Pickles app took a...familiar Southern food and gave it an interesting twist. The Pork Osso Bucco and the NC Catfish were equally interesting; not to mention the creative vegetable accompaniments. Although this place is on the pricey side, we paid about $90 for our two meals, it does provide a memorable tasting experience. It did strike us as odd however, when we arrived to an empty restaurant at the 5PM opening time with a reservation, to be told that all of the tables along the wall where we asked to be seated, were reserved; they remained empty during the entire time we were in the restaurant.More

Made reservations for a birthday celebration and had a wonderful time! Received a celebratory glass of champagne when we arrived. We split dinner of a hamburger special, deviled eggs, and fried chicken that was to die for! One of the best restaurants in Roanoke for...sure! There was outside seating as well which is nice on a warm night!More

I suggest calling. Open Table is not accepting Reservations for December 24th, so I would expect it to be closed. However, it could be a special menu and could be reservation only. Good luck.
