Wow! What a great hidden treasure. Wife had the smoked tenderloin and I had the shrimp and grits. Hard to decide which was better. Don't pass up this small intimate venue. It's one of the best restaurants around.

Have heard about this place for as long as I can remember so you can imagine how disappointing for me when the food was "nothing to write home about". For the life of me I can't figure out how this place has stayed around. Yes, it is eclectic . . . almost as if they were trying too hard to... More

My wife is a true "foodie" and has her own food blog and has her food on the Food Network show the Kitchen so when we heard about Stove from a shop owner in Smithfield when she bought a jar of sauce made by the owner we were excited. It sounds like her kind of place and she couldn't wait... More

My husband just flew back to the US after a year in Afghanistan. While staying at the Norfolk Naval Base, we ventured out to several towns nearby. We were told about Stove and made it a point to visit. After my dish (dumb waiter etouffe) being bland-- aside from the heat factor and a hair being in my food (that... More

This is a great place to go with friends because the decor gives you lots to talk about. Everything from the design of the place to the menu is the brainchild of the artist/chef/owner. Eclectic small plates give you the opportunity for lots of different tastes. I found one to be a bit bland, albeit very fresh. The risotto was... More

After reading many of the positive reviews, our group of four young professionals were very excited about visiting Stove. It was a celebration night and we visited on a Wednesday evening. Our waitress was Kimberly. We began with appetizers, which were very good. When we mentioned that we had a Groupon, Kimberly became very uninterested in our party. We ordered... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time on our anniversary last month. We loved it, despite the mosquito or two that suddenly soared out from under the tablecloth . The yellow fin tuna was one of the best I've ever had, cooked perfectly. I've eaten yellow fin for years in SE Asia where I worked and... More

Very unusual decor, but not detracting from the service or the meal. Our server, Kimberly, was very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. I ordered the jumbo shrimp etouffee. Although quite tasty, it was highly spicy (hot) - glad I ordered a beer to go with it. I would get it again. My wife had a dish of the day... More

The first thing you notice when you enter The Stove is the eclectic decorum. It's very quaint but different. The main dining area is small but it's great for intimate and family dining. You will not get seated without a reservation, it's just too small and the food is too good to get that lucky to just walk in and... More

The meal began with the host greeting us with a friendly smile. We came from Oklahoma and Illinois. The menu was inspiring, the chef and artist.
