Once you get out of DC, it is a nice drive across 50. We have eaten at the inn several times in the past. There were four of us. We were greeted warmly, seated quickly and served well. The wine steward was excellent, informative and sociable. One of us had the rib eye, two of us had an excellent lamb... More

I finally made it there after a life time of just driving by. Why did I wait so long. This place was incredible. Perfect evening with the Chef's table 5 course meal with wine pairing. Worth every dime! Delicious food and awesome service. We stay upstairs in a lovely room. Thanks! We will be back!!!

Dined at the Ashby Inn restaurant the night we stayed at the Inn. The weather was perfect so we sat outside with a view of the gardens and pastures. The wine list was extensive and the sommelier very helpful and friendly. We all had the trout served with a brown butter sauce and roasted cauliflower and bok choy. Excellent! Dessert... More

We were staying at the Inn, and made reservations for dinner that evening. We were seated on the sun porch, which was brightly decorated. We started the dinner with an aperitif, and enjoyed an chef's surprise amuse bouche. It was a "cigarette" of a paper thin slice of watermelon radish, stuffed with smoked salmon mousse - yum. Our first course... More

We were heading home from Washington and haven't visited the Ashby Inn for a while, so we booked a Spring Getaway package (three-course dinner for two, room in the Schoolhouse and breakfast for two: $399). The Schoolhouse is a two-minute walk from the inn with beautiful views of the surrounding hills over the chef's garden, and contains four of my... More

My husband and I recently stayed in the New England Room at the Ashby Inn. Where can I start - this lovely inn is set in the lovely VA countryside. A beautiful room, a lovely library, a Tap Room, and the food!!! The food gets 5 stars on its own! We both had the Chef's Tasting menu and it was... More

This was our (3 couples) annual visit to Ashby after a couple private wine tastings with our two favorite local wineries and their winemakers - Delaplane and Linden. Ashby never disappoints. They have a nice round table that seats six that seems to have become "our" table each time we visit (and we don't even have a brass name tag... More

Q: How can such micro community serve such elegant food? A: Proximity to WDC. My wife and I drove here for our anniversary tradition of going to Paris...somewhere. This was our second trip, and it didn't disappoint. The Inn is 187 years old, so ambiance is ample. The wine selection is pages long, drawing from Europe, CA, WA, and local... More

My girlfriend and I snuck out on a Thursday evening for a quick overnight stay at the Ashby that included a three-course dinner at the restaurant. Blown. Away. Service was impeccable, the wine list was exhaustive (I recommend the Hubert Lamy "Derriere chez Edouard" 1er cru), and at the end of the night, I'm delighted to report she said "yes."... More
