I had some awesome beef tips and mashed potatoes. The cheesecake was good, but the strawberries were frozen. The service was excellent. The restaurant is in an old silk mill, and the parking right out front. I would definitely go back to try some of the other dishes.

We thought we would check out the place primarily for the history and hoped to find some good eats in an interesting atmosphere. Striking structure, but bland tables and booths with empty space that created a forlorn look. The staff appeared tired and despite few patrons, did not feel compelled to serve those of us who were there. The food... More

Fun place to grab a fast, hot and reasonably priced lunch while road-tripping in/around the piedmont! This place showcases some of the photos and tools used in the American Silk Mills, known for its parachute production. On the day we visited, our server took our drink order right away, and after she served us our beverages, she took our order,... More

Having been to this restaurant numerous times and having read some preceding reviews, I thought some menu recommendations might be in order. (One personal viewpoint might intrude: Really, if you order a steak medium or well, why order a steak at all?) Lunch: > The Weaver --- sloppy to eat but memorably excellent, like a club sandwich on slaw steroids.... More

Historic space (a WWII parachute factory) - reasonable food - good bar - fair value. Nice place for dinner with family. Menu is varied and service has always been attentive. Neat open courtyard off bar area.

Look what I found in this little town. The old mill is alive with great food at a reasonal price. There are certain things I never eat out because I make it better than any chef, but this day I took a chance on a pulled pork sandwich. So glad I did, it was excellent and the toasted bun was... Orange is a funny town. Some cool places to eat but aren't open when you want them to be. We had been here last year and thought it was good. A great waitress, food was good, and the menu was very expansive. Certainly a good deal all around.

The place has a historical atmosphere, however, the food and service are only mediocre. It is a local place with good rolls but most of the rest of the food appears to have just been heated up from frozen.

The Silk Mill is in downtown Orange not far from the historical center of the town. The restaurant is in a building with character from a different era. Apparently the name comes from the days when silk was manufactured for parachutes during the second world war. While those days are long gone, I love that the restaurant owners have held... More

Recently visited for dinner while visiting in town. Nice, local restaurant that has lots of space and interesting history. The food is just ok, but the rolls are hot, homemade and fresh! We ordered the fresh salad which includes homemade dressing. Enjoyable. I ordered the fried shrimp, which were hot but tasted like frozen. The mash potatoes are homemade and the prices... More
