Cute place, good food!

Unfortunately there are no restrooms at this restaurant (but there are restrooms in the beginning of the pier) but other than that this place is awesome. This restaurant is worth the short walk down the pier to get to it. You have your choice of outdoor or indoor dining. They have always had great food. The milkshakes are fantastic. I could skip the meal and add another shake to my order next time. Unlimited fry refills. The place has a 50's vibe with the wait staff... More

On a rare rainy day, breakfast at Ruby's Diner brightened the day. This is a unique gem on the Balboa Penisula way out on the peir. It is a small old time diner with big servings of delicious food. It was the most delicious breakfast on our vacation in Newport Beach..and far and away the best value. The servers were all... More

I've traveled to many places and have eaten a lot of great food. For ME - Ruby's Diner is my absolute favorite burger. The only other place with a rivaling burger would be the Kobe Burger at Fudrucker's. Slater's 50/50 and Famous Dave's are a close 2nd place. I've been going to Ruby's since it opened (Yes, I'm that old).... More

This was a cool little place. Huge burgers, bottomless fries, and coca-cola.... The coca-cola was the best coke that I had on our 10 day California trip. There are no bathrooms so go before you eat (there are bathroom as the other end of the pier). I had a guacamole burger and it was the best thing that I had... More

Ruby's is a fun experience for all ages. It's a 50's themed diner with good food. The wait staff wears fun red and white striped clothing and 50's music plays inside the diner. You'll enjoy eating your meal looking out over the ocean. It's amazing that this isn't a 5 star steak house with the location they're in. You can... More

I always love coming to this place. Something about the thought of walking down the pier to take in the view on the way in and knowing I am going to get a great burger is just awesome. This past visit we sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather and the sound of the sea while enjoying a nice conversation.... More

I have to start by saying THERE ARE NO BATHROOMS AT THIS RESTAURANT. It would be really nice if they had a sign at the pier to indicate this because we went as a family of 15 and a lot of them were small children along with a disabled adult who struggles to walk. On to the dining experience, we... More

Eating breakfast while sitting on the pier surrounded by the Pacific Ocean was the perfect way to start our first full day in California. Food was great and the service excellent. The view is wonderful but the pier is crowded with fishermen. Which is not a problem, but every so often you get the strong whiff of raw fish and... More

I remember it as a fun place. The soda was flat, the salad looked like what you find on a dinner plate the morning after and the burger was one level below a Big Mac. The turkey burger had the grill sludge hanging on it. We both ate a few bites and then left. I actually feel a little sick........
