Young man showed up at our boat about 830 am. Selling fresh made pates(sic). A pastry filled with great fresh fish!! Excellent! Almost like room service. Visit them in Grand Harbor! A must stop for our next trip.

Joan cooks everything from scratch and is just the lovliest lady ever. We are vegan and enjoyed her veggied burgers several times while staying on Jost. Stop in for some great coffee or a cold drink, interesting selection. Try a Ribena. You can rent a dinghy for the day from her son Kenroy. We miss you Joan!!!

Going to the and from the ferry, just kicking around? You can't beat Joan's homemade Veggie Burgers! Always fun to talk to and full of life, Joan Chinnery is awesome. You can grab some good eats or a drink, and even rent a dinghy from her if you want to. Great place!

So the "paah-tay" is like a meat pie or empanada. Not necessarily the first thing you would think of for breakfast but wellll worth it. The reviews are spot on. Perhaps the best breakfast on the island. It might not look like much from the outside but solid and delicious home cooking inside. Awesome!

We had read about Joan's Pates (pronounced "patties") on TripAdvisor and other forums and made the trek walking from where we were staying on White Bay, up and over the hill to Sugar and Spice on a Friday morning to try them out! We were greeted by Joan, all smiles, who let us know that during certain times of the... More

Do yourself a favor and stop in for breakfast. Ms Joan is so nice and she will whip you up some great pate. We also rented her son Kenroy's dinghy for a day. He was so cool and his little daughter made us a Christmas card. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. These are genuine great people... More

We were hungry while we were waiting for our ferry to go back to st. John's. And there was sugar and spice on the side of the road. We walked in and Joan greeted with a big smile saying "you ready for breakfast" "I have the best Pate' ". ( it's like an empanada) She's not lying...Yes she does!! It... More

We learned about this place from Kenroy over at Corsairs. His mom owns Sugar and Spice. As we we're getting ready to set sail for Cane Garden Bay, we dinged over and Joan made us Chicken Rotis for the road. They were fantastic!

Love love love! For our second meal of the trip at Sugar and Spice we brought our own fish. We had caught a couple kingfish on a morning fishing trip with fisherman Dave, the owner Joan's nephew. Dave cleaned and cut up our catch, delivered it to his aunt Joan who made us the best meal we had in the... More
