We were staying down the road from the Honey Bee so had a pleasant walk to this lovely old building. We received a warm greeting and were soon seated and ordered drinks and food. We thought it was a lovely atmospheric old place, through a little wicket gate from the pavement up to the front door. We learned that in... More

Delicious lunch, food very fresh, happy to support my friends many gastronomic requirements, good mix of diners, service a bit slow.

So my last review in May was bad. I contacted the team, they were sorry about the mess and promised it would be better if we returned. We returned on Friday and had a great time. The staff were not the same as last time and couldn't be more attentive and friendly. The food and drinks were great. I picked... More

I have been coming here regularly for 4 years as a couple and with my children and with the whole family and absolutely love the place, it's actually my favourite place in the world to eat. The food is always delicious and impeccable and I eat out almost everyday. The staff are always polite and happy to help and the... More

Made an impromptu stop as was passing this pub, it looked nice and realised it was part of a chain that I like. It was very busy, car park is not very big compared to the size of the pub. The pub itself has been decorated out nicely, very neutral, lots of beams. We were lucky to get a table... More

Decent food all cooked well. Menu is varied but quite predictable. It's 'good' not 'incredible'. So it depends on what you're looking for. I ordered my 8oz rump steak blue and it was served rare. It is a minor issue so I can't complain too much. My partner had the merlot pie and loved it. Portion sizes are very generous... More

Staying at the holiday inn nearby but wanted better food. Not disappointed. Friendly welcome, efficient service, lots of food choice, 3 real ales. Food was freshly prepared. Not cheap at £80 for 4, two courses plus drinks. But if I'd wanted cheap pre-prepared, I'd have eaten at the hotel.

Such a shame as really enjoyed coming to this pub. My last visit may very well be the last. Service not great. Length of time between courses. Mixed up orders. No checking if food was ok. Left really on our own... no checking if wanted more drinks etc. Bill took ages..ended up getting up and paying at the till. Even... More

To be fair it's a nice pub to drop in. It's very pleasant and well maintained. The staff were excellent and very helpful and the food service was good. To say that it's a Wednesday lunch it was busy with good clientele. So why the mid score, it's just not special enough and the food is predictable. The price was... More
