Took a relative from Canada there last Monday and despite it being a Monday evening, and the weather a bit doubtful, both the restaurant and bar were busy. A good sign. The lady who served us behind the bar - and did most of the service in the restaurant, was attentive, charming, helpful and provided an excellent "service with a... More

We were attracted to this country pub by the consistently glowing reviews on TA and were not disappointed. We eventually found our way through country lanes from the main A24 route to Worthing and were greeted like long-lost friends when we walked in and ordered some drinks at the bar. Did we want to have lunch? You bet: we chose... More

.Our quest of over twenty years continues. Of hundreds we've visited this one certainly comes in the top ten. We arrived just as the kitchen was closing-no problem for the landlady(a different response to some we've received in similar circumstances) Perfectly kept Harveys Best, but this really is a place for exceptional, reasonably priced food. This is far from pub grub, but it... More

Wow what a beautiful little place in the middle of somewhere, wonderful people that I met anyway :) absolutely fabulous food. And we turned up just as they stopped serving food but they straight away let the kitchen know they had 2 more mouths to feed and they performed brilliantly and you can see. I most definitely will be back.... More

This is a beautiful old english pub. We went for dinner after a day at Goodwood races and it could not have been any better. The food was delicious, the wine yummy and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return and recommend it to friends!

The ambiance was good and the staff were helpful. The food was excellent. I would have had a dessert but the portions were filling (just what I needed on a Friday night). The only thing I would suggest to them is to dry down the outside seating area at the back which looked beautiful to sit in instead of telling... More

Really genuine country pub with a great menu. We chose to eat in the restaurant (choice was bar or restaurant)...good choice on the menu including delicious scallops for starters, followed by beautifully cooked lambs liver and bacon. Sadly none of us had room for the lovely sounding desserts!! The wine list had a good choice and very reasonable. We were... More

Rowhook is a very pretty, small West Sussex village with a typical rural country pub. .Except that The Chequers Inn is NOT typical - It provides food of a very high standard. The Inn itself IS a village pub with low beams, a flagstone floor and locals imbibing at the bar; but to one side is a dining room where... More

Visited for the first time with friends. The food here is a hidden gem. The pub is a country pub, low cellings, flagstone floors, inglenook fire place and a warm welcome from the landlord. For you real ale lovers there are plenty and for a gin lover like myself a really good selection. The food menu was varied, sourced locally... More
