Lovely pub, nestling on the slopes of historic Harrow Hill. We enjoyed a delightful Sunday with an elderly relative. Staff (especially Nicole) could not have been kinder or more accommodating and the food was delicious and great value for money. Highly recommended! Thank you.

We booked at very short notice and the team were very friendly, efficient and accommodating. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast dinner, generous portion sizes and all cooked really well. The Yorkshire puddings were outstanding! The pricing on the menu is a little bit confusing as we had to ask for the individual roast dinner prices as opposed to the 2 courses - and majority of roast dinners has an additional surcharge. Apart from that all really great and would definitely recommend! Also very family friendly the kids meals were really tasty.

We visited this pub on a Saturday evening for a family meal. Initially we called up in the afternoon and made a reservation, the lady who answered the phone was polite and friendly.
As we arrived to the pub you'll first notice how clean and new everything looks, on a nice summers day it would be very nice to sit outside. As we entered we waited at the sign post and waited, shortly we were welcomed by a polite and welcoming lady. She took our reservation details and explained to us the current guide lines with covid and what was expected whilst we were in the restaurant, very professional and explained in a friendly manner.
We were shown to our table a nice large round table with ample space and a good distance from other tables, the waitress was very polite and was on point when I asked what draught was available. There was a very good selection and for her to know them all off the top of her head I was impressed. The menu was also impressive with a good selection of food, enough to not over power it and to demonstrate that every dish is made fresh and not from a freezer. The pie of the day was Turkey and cranberry and it was delicious, word of warning the pie is big and perfect size, you will leave feeling full. The onion rings are the best I've had, nice thin slices of onions with the right seasoning they were that good had to order another portion. The whole family enjoyed every bit of their food and all the dishes were clean.
To sum up I would highly recommend this pub for its excellent food and more so the exceptional customer service from the staff. Will be going back again. 10 out of 10

I have been to The White Horse a few times for Sunday lunch, including for my birthday, and always enjoyed it previously. However this visit was disappointing. We'd managed to get our 5month old to sleep in the car and thought we'd treat ourselves to a late lunch if there was a table. Our bill was opened at 13.52 we ordered drinks and then food around 2pm. I hoped we might get food before the baby woke but sadly he was awake within 10mins. By the time we realized the third group that came in after us was getting their food we thought something must be wrong. It turns out our order hadn't been put through, it only got processed at 2.45pm once we queried where the food was. By then the baby was getting a bit moany, so I was worried about disturbing other customers, feeling hungry and pretty tearful since coming out for lunch was meant to be a treat but instead felt stressful. We had to wait another 15/20mins to get our food and I just sat staring at the kitchen door hoping it was our food every time it opened. Having said all that the serving staff were really nice and our waitress very apologetic about the error.
The food when it finally arrived was good but by then I just wanted to eat as quickly as possible and leave. When the bill came we still had to pay full price for both the meals and all the drinks which I was a bit surprised about given the delay. Unfortunately it ended up being a long, expensive but not very enjoyable Sunday lunch sadly. Despite this being a local pub I am not in any rush to return.

Poor quality and well cooked beef wellington resulted in a big let down. If you're charging ÂŁ25 for that it needs to be of high quality. I would usually send it back but didn't want to make a fuss in front of the other half. Starter of scallops for ÂŁ10 shouldn't be hard and over cooked. These are 2 items that are not difficult to get right and shouldn't have left the kitchen. Quality control needs looking at. Service was good at the start but we had finished eating for over 30 minutes before our plates we're taken away. No 'how was your meal,' either, hence expressing myself on here.

We were staying nearby for 3 weeks and this place was the nearest pub. Good location and nice terrace with shaded large tables deserve a star each. The service was measly, the young man could not mix cocktails (his words), the beer was expensive and I did not enjoy my wine. The bowl of tortilla chips was very small for the price, and had only a spoonful of salsa, guacamole, and cheese added directly to the chips, not on the side. So disappointing! Will definitely avoid, The Castle is much better.

The staff is not helpful and very rude. I do not recommend this place.
We went there for Saturday drinks with couple of friends. We sat outside at quite a small table and asked the blond male waiter for additional chair. He said no because he cannot put the chair on the grass. We did not wanted to make a fuss so we moved the tables.
We asked the waiter if they are still serving food as it was 9:30pm and his answer was:probably not. I needed to ask him again to check this information if he is not sure, which he did and it turned that they were still serving food.
When I went to order the food the barman (around 50years old)called me back and said that my shirt shows too much…basically that my cleavage was too big. I felt really uncomfortable and strange. First of all the pub was full of ladies in tight shirts and trousers (including female waiter) or short skirts, secondly I really found his comment inappropriate.
After this we decided to move places as we did not feel welcome anymore.
I have been in this pub before but never been treated like that. I think the staff is the heart of the pub and if they are not nice and not helpful the atmosphere in the pub starts to be horrible.
Even thou I was in this pub many times before I will not go there anymore. And if you are a young good looking lady please do not go there as they will comment on your look…
Awful place

Lunchtime get together for three. As usual the food was well cooked and tasty.
So why only 3 stars?
First, the food took ages to arrive. There were only 3 tables occupied in the whole place - including ours - so it can't have been because they were busy. When I asked why the delay, the guy behind the bar said "your main courses take 20 minutes to prepare." I replied, "We ordered 40 minutes ago!" No response.
Second, they are still charging criminal prices of over ÂŁ3 for soft drinks.
Won't be rushing back.

The White horse H
Hi,
I remember your table very well. You did come for lunch with 2 ladies.
You ordered the vegan wellington which takes 20 minutes to cook in the oven.
You came to the bar and asked where your food was. You told me you waited for ages since 12.30.
It is true that you came at 12.30 but the last lady arrived just before 1pm and the order was taken at 1pm.
When you mentioned you have been waiting, I did go to the kitchen and got your food out, and despite you waiting 25 minutes not 45 minutes, I was very apologetic and came back to the table to ensure that everything was fine. Therefore, I struggle to understand the 3-star review. However, our main aim is to please every customer coming through our door and I am sorry we did not manage on that occasion.

Chose this for my first meet up indoors with a good friend who I have not been able to see for a while.
The efforts made for return to indoor dining were great - well spaced tables, clear one way system, really attentive staff.
The food was delicious and freshly made, with a varied menu, good vegetarian and gluten free options.
Had a delicious Gin and tonic too, beautifully served, can recommend the Gordon’s Lemon gin. Well done...definitely the place to go this season!

My partner and I took his mother here, after a long Sunday walk and with the smell of lovely home cooked food wafting our way.
While only some lime and sodas, with an ale on the side - the drinks came quickly, in large glasses. The ale looked great (and apparently tasted fab) no murky tones.
The food was insane - so lovely, a large portion and I’ve been thinking of it fondly since.
Being vegan, it’s tricky to make a fuss-free choice that is something other than salad or plain pasta.
I was blown away by a homemade bhaji burger, with houmous and relish inside. Honestly, it’s amazing!
My partner had a nut roast which came with a huge Yorkshire, it’s own gravy pot and made me so jealous. Topped off with my partner’s mother having another burger, which was very big and had us all drooling.
So in summary, welcoming and speedy service, beautiful inclusive food all round and a lovely spot.
Thank you. We will be back, that’s for sure!

From the moment we stepped into the pub we felt warmly welcomed and attended to, even though it was a busy bank holiday Monday.
Huge thanks to Frank - friendly and professional in seating us safely in a corner, getting us some drinks.
The food was amazing - honestly, the skinny onion rings are beautiful and so moreish. My only regret is not ordering 2 portions!
The food was all delicious... a table we had sirloin steak, seabass and pak choi, a cajun chicken burger and a homemade bhaji burger. Whilst everyone was happy and enamoured by their lunch, I must say that the bhaiji burger was the highlight. Packed in with houmous, pepper relish and salad - it really is dreamy.
Thank you so much, for your hard work keeping pubs fab and safe. We will be back!

Had a lovely meal at the pub with very friendly staff. However we ordered a Calamari, costing over ÂŁ5 chess only got 5 pieces.... That's over ÂŁ1 a piece. The kids portions were more like baby portions,.. Again at ÂŁ5 a full. It is a shame as the mains, location and drinks selection are great but I would not pay for the starters or kids meals again.

I ate here recently with friends on a Saturday evening. There's a good range dishes on the menu, but they're all a bit overpriced. That said, most of the dishes were good quality but you might want to avoid the pork belly as it probably won't be what you'd expect. The service was friendly and efficient.

We were served by a lovely lady called Anna who couldn't do enough to help us. We had the samosas and brie for starters and they were both delicious and well presented. We had the salmon wellington and sirloin steaks for mains and they were just as good. Anna was a brilliant host and organised extra mushroom sauces for us and was happy to amend our dishes slightly when we requested. The pub/restaurant was very busy as it was Saturday evening but the whole staff did exceptionally well keeping on top of the tasks. Thank you to Anna, the chefs and the bar staff. We couldn't fault the evening. We'll certainly be back.

We were staying locally and passed The White Horse on a walk and saw that they were offering a French menu on Thursday nights. We liked the look of the menu and booked for slightly later that evening.
We had a really lovely evening. The French menu was superbe, started with a Kir Royale and even enjoyed speaking French to the manager and waitress! A real bonus!
I really hope that this becomes a regular feature as the ambiance was great, the food was lovely and the staff very friendly and welcoming.
Although we are not local we would definitely visit again when we come down to visit our daughter.
