The Shapla in East Cowick is quite simply the best restaurant of its type in the area.... the best in the region, actually......possibly the country! The Shapla at Cowick is well worth a visit, as the food is not just a commercial offering of basic wholesale sauces, but has the look and taste of genuine meals freshly cooked If you enjoy really spicy and hot dishes, you'll be well satisfied. Service is competent, with experienced staff, who don't pester you all the time. The drinks... More

We visited for a meal on the Friday evening. The food was extremely tasty (jalfrezi, Biryani, mixed sizzler) very good value for money. The service was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. So impressed we returned again this week

Called in on the off chance one midweek evening. The food was good but rather slow taking our order. There seemed to be plenty of staff but despite the fact there were few diners there they did not seem to know what they were doing. Nevertheless the food was good so we resolved to return. We returned on a Saturday... More

Please do not confuse Shapla reviews with Bay Horse. Shapla has taken over and is far far better. My son and I have eaten there several times . The place is clean and the staff smart and friendly. The food is great, but beware the portions are great too so dont over order if you dont like leaving food. We have... More

Was invited here by a friend, this had been the old Bay Horse pub, that had been closed for some time. On entering the bar/ restaurant, was greeted by some very pleasant staff. To the right is a medium sized bar, well fitted out and pleasing to the eye with some seating. Not sure if you can go in there... More
