After a day out at Carisbrooke Castle we decided to eat at the Eight Bells. The food is simple but served quickly with a good level of service. The decor is tired and could be improved but if you're looking for quick service, reasonable prices and decent food then I would recommend the Eight Bells.

Good decent food lots of choice on the menu and some dishes come in smaller appetite portions. There is also a specials board. Great pudding menu too. Staff were friendly and helpful would definitely recommend.

Having been born and raised on the Island, I am pretty familiar with the Eight Bells. If you wanted good pub food, this was always the place to come. I left the Island 16 years ago and so this was my first visit in about 20 years. I assume it has changed hands a few times, but the current owners... More

This pub is more modern than most, and seems cleaner than most. The three of us tried three basic pub menu items - a burger, fish and chips, and scampi - and all were very good. Chips and cole slaw were good too. Nice outdoor area, and that backs up to a playground, so it'd be a good spot for... More

We visited prior to going to Carisbrooke Castle, and were very happy with our experience, even if our trouser waistbands weren't quite so comfortable afterwards. As a party of 6, we were pleasantly surprised to be quickly accommodated, and given menus. With 3 vegetarians on our party, you would think we would struggle to find sufficient variety to suit all... We were heading for Carisbrook Castle and stopped here for a quick bite to eat. the staff were friendly and the menu was reasonably varied. I had moussaka and my husband had a burger, both of which were quite nice. Fine for a pit stop but it had a bit of a strange layout which made it feel a little... More

We felt that the service from one person was grudging and it cast a shadow over our visit. We aren't going back again, which is a shame because the garden and the river views are lovely.

It's recently been revamped so now it's all laminate floors and pastel paintwork. Been twice in the last 6 months. On both visits, the order took a bit too long to arrive, but was worth waiting for. Extremely well cooked, nicely presented and attentively served. Generous portion sizes. Typical "Pub Grub" menu, but with a varied blackboard. Reasonable Veggie choice.... More

We had excellent English Breakfasts. This place has great service and the entire place was spotless clean, including the toilets.
