We come to the eight bells quite regularly and we all enjoy the food and portion sizes are good! Staff are friendly but a bit of staff training on simple things such as clearing a customers table of dirty plates when pub is relatively empty, especially after going up to the bar to place dessert order, you'd think that was... The place was very quiet when we visited we soon found out why.. The barman showed no sign of interest upon arrival so we seated ourselves near the bar and looked over the menu which was basic and unapealing and yet over priced. I ordered a lasagne and it was under cooked and oily. The salad was limp. We left... More

The Eight Bells is not the smartest place, but it is kept clean. The menu is much as might be expected, and the prices are reasonable. Its biggest plus is the friendliness of the hosts. I would be happy to eat here on any future visits.

On arrival I was greeted with a smile from a young gentleman behind the bar. I asked where to sit he reply 'anywhere that's comfortable for you madam' sat on a long table at the end of the bar where the tables where clean and tidy. Once we had all chosen what to eat we went to the bar where... More

It was an ok sort of pub but not too impressed with the layout of the place. No atmosphere. Food ok but would not rush back there

Will honestly never go there again. Food has gone downhill since I last went, veg was dried out, chips were cooked to oblivion. Staff never came over to ask if everything ok with meal but now I understand why! They seemed like they did not care and were more interested in sitting on the work tops behind bar discussing personal... More

After a day out at Carisbrooke Castle we decided to eat at the Eight Bells. The food is simple but served quickly with a good level of service. The decor is tired and could be improved but if you're looking for quick service, reasonable prices and decent food then I would recommend the Eight Bells.
