Loved the location. Was recommended by Rick Steve's guidebook. Had to wait for 15 min for a table outside on the water. And its literally on the water. I ordered the famous francesinha sandwich which is a Porto specialty. Loved it. Went with the recommended douro red to go with it. Couldn't be happier. Great way to finish my Porto... More

Four of us dined here, accompanied (and recommended by) a friend who lives locally. The unanimous consensus was that it was not one of the best restaurants we had visited in Porto. The food was so-so (overcooked fish, bland flavours); and the gents' toilets were dirty and did not even have running water. No reason to return, despite the nice... More

Went to this place when we needed a location for dinner. Ordered lasagne and a other noodle dish + fries. The italian dishes were ok just the fries were a little bit lubricious. All in all was it OK

This is a prototype of I usually call "turist trap"!!!! It was rainy day, and we wanted to kill the time with small lunch. This "restaurant" is situated by the bank of the river, so we decided to go there without checking TA. What a mistake!!! Service zero, food ---- sh---t. We had soup full of flour, no taste, junk.... Overall a better than average lunch, we asked about and was told this place was pretty good and we were quite pleased. It was just what we wanted, a quick lunch, a great view and decent standard of food. All were matched, I had the "Special Hotdog" and it was. A hot dog smothered in the sauce of the local... More

Went there with GF one afternoon to kill some time whilst we waited for a tour of one of the portwine cellars. Discovered this place by chance. When we saw the deck chairs outside, overlooking the river and the old town, it was clear that this was the place. We had a great time there, drinking our first Porto Tonics... More

This is one of the best places in Porto to have a Portuguese meal and enjoy the view to Porto! Food is typical and well cooked (tasty). Price is not expensive (arround 15€ per person).

The Ar de Rio is situated on the south bank of the Douro. The owners/some staff moved here from another bar/restaurant, the Caves de Cerveja, which closed toward the end of 2014 because Viking cruisers decided to moor in front of it and spoil the view. The Ar de Rio is right by the river with seating inside and out.... More

Service was good, environment was OK (they were working to improve it... While were eating), food was clearly improvable, but it could also be that we selected the wrong dish (francesinhas)... Anyway, we would not give it a second chance I fear!
