Found this little gem in a quiet street in Vila Nova de Gaia. Was a little wary as it only had one couple eating there when we arrived but was more than pleasantly surprised. Greeted by a lovely waiter, Marcio who made sure all our needs were met. Ordered seafood rice and WOW, enough to feed a small army and... More

Walked out from Gaia with my wife to sample a lunch here. We didn't want a large meal for lunch. I ordered pataniscas de bacalhau and my wife chose sardinhas with a salad. The waiter said that these were only appetisers and what else did we want. The main courses were very expensive for a small village 'fisherman's restaurant' and... More

At this authentic restaurant tourists were in a minority the evening we visited. When we ordered the service was too rushed and we ended up with an incorrect dish we could not eat but duly had to pay for. The portions were huge, and in the end we probably ate one quarter of the food brought to our table. Some... More

Went there on a Friday evening. It was fully booked. Be sure to reserve a table. Maybe I'm getting old but this time I had the feeling that it was much too loud inside. Even the owner went through the restaurant shouting to the people in the kitchen. So be sure to book the table in the smaller room that... More

Nice authentic family held fish restaurant. Price quite affordable, menu in english, franch, german. At least one person speaks English. We come quite early, at 8, and witnessed that it is queue to get a table here if you arrive later. Recommended.

Been through the whole menu at least twice. If you've never been go. If you've been before go again. Portuguese steak is divine but ask for an egg with it. (Com ova).

Popular restaurant with very good unsophisticated food. We had “arroz de marisco” … and some small thins in the half a hour before…It was fresh, full of shrimps and other seafood stuff, and incredible big (one portion was good for 4 people).

This must rate as one of the worst meals we have ever had, in Portugal and elsewhere. The starters were fine ---- small freshly cooked shrimp and bacalau rissoles. Then came the mains which were the speciality of the house. Grilled octopus and calamari with prawns. Accompanied by soggy potatoes and a mountain of soggy greens, carrots and sprouts! Cremated... No frills clean , delicious seafood. the quantity they server is definitely more than one can eat so be careful when ordering. if you fall short you can... More
