We visited this fish restaurant in the outskirts of Porto during a recent visit. Highly attentive staff brought us the freshest of the fresh - starting with lightly dusted pan friend sardines, with our mains consisting of shellfish stew and amazing grilled line caught fish. I have never had such fresh fish tasting so good. We split two (two-person) mains... More

We found out about the restaurant from our friends who were impressed with the food there, and when we came back to Portugal we decided to meet there and have dinner. I say "came back" because we ourselves lived in Portugal for 9 yrs: huge portions should not surprise us anymore... OMG!!! The portions are absolutely enormous, half a portion... More

The atmosphere in this brightly lit, family style place was nice. It was nice and warm, especially in the winter. The food was very good (not outstanding though), but the service was super friendly. Nice place to try if you don't want the crowds of Afurada's two other more popular places.

I found this restaurant at the recommendation of the Ibis hotel (1.5Km away). It is an authentic Portuguese family restaurant one street back from the harbour. The menu is very comprehensive, with translations in English and other languages. Service is friendly and attentive, with good English. The food - mainly local seafood - is fresh and served in huge portions.... More

We went here on the advise of the hotel receptionist. A little way down the river in a small street is a Portuguese fish restaurant which I think is quite popular with the locals. A noisy bustling place with a sloping floor an d not much room to manoeuvre once you are in. There is a large selection of fish... More

Found this little gem in a quiet street in Vila Nova de Gaia. Was a little wary as it only had one couple eating there when we arrived but was more than pleasantly surprised. Greeted by a lovely waiter, Marcio who made sure all our needs were met. Ordered seafood rice and WOW, enough to feed a small army and... More

Walked out from Gaia with my wife to sample a lunch here. We didn't want a large meal for lunch. I ordered pataniscas de bacalhau and my wife chose sardinhas with a salad. The waiter said that these were only appetisers and what else did we want. The main courses were very expensive for a small village 'fisherman's restaurant' and... More

At this authentic restaurant tourists were in a minority the evening we visited. When we ordered the service was too rushed and we ended up with an incorrect dish we could not eat but duly had to pay for. The portions were huge, and in the end we probably ate one quarter of the food brought to our table. Some... More

Went there on a Friday evening. It was fully booked. Be sure to reserve a table. Maybe I'm getting old but this time I had the feeling that it was much too loud inside. Even the owner went through the restaurant shouting to the people in the kitchen. So be sure to book the table in the smaller room that... More
