This is a family owned, traditional Portuguese restaurant. The owners are simple, honest, kind and welcoming people. The food is tasty and generous. They will not let you order too much as they don't want you to waste money or their food. You feel totally at home. Sr. Adão and his family treat everyone the same, be it tourist or... More

We came here for lunch. We were tempted by one of the places with outside seating and a river view, but instead decided to go for the better food. This place was clearly quite authentic and was packed with locals and tourists alike. There was a small wait, but once we got in we were not disappointed. Friendly service (it's... More

This place is really authentic and crowded with local guests. Two dishes lunch including wine for only 10€ per person! The food is rustic and very tasty, the portions are generous. Warm and friendly atmosphere.

As you walk past the port wine caves across the Douro, you'll probably walk past this family run restaurant. Keep the address in hand, and look for it specifically. The place is packed at lunchtime, and the dishes of the day are always popular with guests. Locals compete with tourists here. It's a tight squeeze, no frills, nothing fancy. Focus... More

A very traditional family Portuguese restaurant. We went in at around 1pm on a Sunday and it was packed. We hadn't intended to have the menu del dia but had it pointed out to us. We went for it on the basis it would be served quicker than if we went off piste. €20 for two of us. Soup, bread,... More

Wife got the tripe dish and it was excellent, I did the Francesinha sandwich with pork. True to the style, could not touch the fries, this one sandwitch could easily feed 2 people, 3 if you have the fries. Very good value.

Great restaurant. The green soup was delicious. Had the stuffed breaded chicken for two which was delicious and plentiful. Overall great food at a great price!

My friend and I went there twice during our long weekend stay as simply we couldn't find a better place. It's very low-key family run restaurant with hevenly tasting food and friendly service. Must try the seabass and pork pieces with mussels, desserts are mind blowing too. Second time they were so busy we had to wait a while for... More

We crossed the river to visit the caves and we decided to have lunch before. Based on TripAdvisor reviews we went to acrestaura but in our way we spotted out Casa Adao. We decided to take the chance and we don't regret at all. We end up having our best lunch in Porto and even in Portugal!!! If you go... More

We arrived at noon, right when they opened. We were almost the only ones inside. Then fiber minutes later, close to 30 guys walked in. Local workers we guessed. This place was hopping! We ordered the fried octopus and octopus rice for two. We asked for salads to start. The owner suggested one salad, since it was a lot of... More
