Quite a road to walk and climb, but hey, its Taylor's.. the climbing was long and tiring, and luckily we fell into a nice spot for lunch in the middle. There in Taylor's we waited for our turn; after 15 minutes we realized it will never arrive, our turn I mean. So , we skipped Taylor's, and went to the... More

The restaurant is set in the grounds of Taylor's Port Cellars. They are beautiful and would be stunning in summer. I had lunch, consisting of stuffed Portobello mushroom and magret de canard. The mushroom, slightly warm, was served on an ice-cold plate. It was small and not stuffed. A mixture sat on top of the mushroom. The magret de canard,... More

This cosy place offers traditionnal portuguese dishes with local wine. you can enjoy a lot of different wine and Portos also from Taylor's house. We came late in the afternoon and they agree to serve us lunch. People were kind and nice.

It was my second visit, the first one 6 years ago. It mantains the high quality of the service and food. Very beautiful, including the toilets, great view. My wife chose a good duck risoto and I chose a sea bass, both very well prepared and tasty.

This restaurant is located in Taylor's vinery at the hill of Vila Nova de Gaia. This is the reason why they have one of the best views in Porto (however not in every room of the restaurant). The interior is very cosy and stylish. As far as food is concerned, local finger-food/starters were great, broccoli soup with mushrooms had no... More

What a wonderful place! We highly recommend this for a lunchtime "splurge." Splurge is in parenthesis, because it is not overpriced and by American standards, it's a good deal. While they offer a fixed price lunch, you can also order ala carte. Our meal was fantastic. The service was top notch and the wine list was very reasonable. I highly... More

We went here with a large group for a function. The venue was quite nice. Beautiful views. Large ample dining hall. The service was excellent. The food was high-quality. They served us an excellent salmon dish. Exceptionally fine dessert. The staff was very attentive. The only downside, the dining area was extremely noisy. I would like to go back with... More

Like many - we had done the tour of Taylors, glimpsed into the garden and felt hungry... A very good and interesting Gazpacho, a great piece of Beef, ad they dealt with my partner's vegetarian tendencies rather well. Wines recommended by the waiter were good and interesting, the view and location excellent.

You can't sit anywhere better for a late summer's lunch in Porto - the view is just one-off astounding. And the team are friendly and welcoming and hospitable - we were a big table without a booking that they found space on the terrace in just a moment. But the food unfortunately was really rather awful. We had the set... More

We were a large group and had a set menu, should have been easy, three hours after we sat down we'd had really not good food. A large group that came in after us was served before us. Starter was cod with an olive tapenade both elements totally tasteless. Main was a forgettable piece of fish. Dessert was the worst... More

Barão Fladgate Restaurant enjoys a spectacular location and atmospheric setting in the grounds of Taylor's Port cellars with magnificent views across the Douro River to the old historic centre of Porto. It offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional cuisine where the accent is on fresh local ingredients and on showcasing the authentic flavours of Portugal. The wine list features a wide variety of labels from the main Portuguese vineyard areas and, as would be expected, a comprehensive choice of both wood-aged and Vintage Ports. In summer, Barão Fladgate opens its al fresco terrace area where guests can enjoy a choice of light dishes while enjoying the spectacular panorama of the old city.
