Amazing tacos!! Cannot comment on the service as I just had a to-go order, but the food was great, specially the “taco de lengua” and the “taco pastor”. Highly recommended!

The salsa was very fresh and the best salsa I've ever had at a restaurant. Great selection of tacos. Tacos and shrimp/chicken dish were very flavorful. Would recommend for authentic Mexican food.

The food was horrible. Our Queso dip was cold, had to request for them to warm up. The chips were stale. We ordered carne asade tacos, the meat had a bad taste. However, our waitress was very nice. Would not recommend.

While traveling on business in the area, my crew went there twice. The food was quite good. Tasty homemade salsa. The dining room isn't plush,, by any means, so I wouldn't recommend the place for impressing clients or a first date. Go for quality Mexican...flavor. Beer and full bar with south of the border cocktails can be had.More

Why have I taken so long to try this place? Absolutely excellent Mexican cuisine. The table salsa is delicious, and unique. Its sweet with a tiny kick. They have options for a verde and roja salsas that are much spicier for those who like it...like that. The verde is my personal favorite. I had a carne asada torta which was fantastic. My husband had a tostada with a Chipotle chicken, and some dish with cactus in it. He was very impressed with both. I tried his chipotle chicken, and loved it. Very unique flavors. The customer service was great, the perfect amount of follow up, not too much or too little. The price was very reasonable, if not impressive. Do yourself a favor, try this place out.More

We went to this place because it was rated #1 for Mexican restaurants in Virginia Beach by the Virginia pilot. I would not rate this #1. I ordered the carnitas taco for $2.45. It was dry and there were so many raw onions on it...that it was mainly an onion taste especially with the small amount of meat that was in it. It was a small amount of dry carnitas, raw onion and cilantro - that’s it. You can see the picture and it was super small. The mangonada was absolutely excellent with a unique taste. I am very glad I ordered it and everyone should if you go there. My husband ordered the chicken taco which like mine was overwhelmed by raw onions. He also ordered the chicken chipotle tostada which was good. We have read complaints about service on yelp. It did take about 20 minutes to get 2 tacos but we thought it would be OK if they were really amazing, which they were not. Guacamole was very good and very chunky. In the end we cannot recommend this restaurant since Jesse’s has so much more to offer along with big portions and not so many onions and faster service.More

Since moving from Texas to Virginia, we have been searching for good Mexican tacos. Based on a food review in the Virginian Pilot, we were eager to try Los Cuates Taqueria and we were not disappointed! We each enjoyed the steak taco special with charro...beans and can’t wait to go back! Definitely the best tacos in Hampton Roads!!More

When you get tired of eating at the Mexican chain food restaurants,, stop in at this fun owner operated restaurant for some authentic Mexican fare. The husband and wife team from Brownsville, Texas bring their Mexican flair to Virginia. The Fajitas I had were as...good as I've ever eaten. The onions were carmelized just right and the green peppers were blended in with seasonings that were not too spicey and tasted great. The refried beans, guacamole, lettuce, cilantro, tomatoes, salsa, and tasty tortillas made for a great meal that I couldn't finish and tasted great the next day. We practiced our spanish with the staff and enjoyed hearing the story from the husband and wife owners. It is not the least expensive lunch, but the portions and the great tasting food made it a great value proposition. It is located in a strip shopping center just North of the I-264 and Newtown Rd exit. We will definitly be returning.....More
