This is a lovely restaurant in Piazza Armerina -- named after large hearth in middle of restaurant. The night we were there it was porcini mushroom night and we tasted the delicious pasta with porcini and then beef with same. Very attentive serving staff and quite beautiful ambience. A white tablecloth place for sure, with a bit of pretentiousness. Very... More

It was hard to find but worth persevering. The atmosphere was quiet and attentive and the people friendly. It looked expensive but they had some quite reasonable options. We selected the dish of the day which was stewed beef. It melted in the mouth. Everything else tasty. Quite an experience.

Sometimes it pays to book a Sicilian restaurant early (the locals eat late); as when the GPS mixes up the address, and you end up near the local hospital; then Federico from the kitchen can show us the last km to find Al Fogher. Here to eat local; plates of fennel pie (topped with caciocavallo cheese, a giant whole grilled... More

This is a place to watch. The wine list is very good. The somm speaks good English. The plates are not over embellished but are all works of art. The gifted savory "struddle" was a brilliant opener. Service was pleasant but a bit too formal for my comfort. (Probably the problem is I know so little Italian) The use &... More

No wonder this chef is still waiting for his Michelin star! The food was pretentious with a complete overkill in so far as the bland mix of flavours. The service by the so-called maitre d'/waiter was affected and still lacking basic table manners. The first impression we got was immediately negative, considering the way this maitre was dressed. This notion... More

Comfortable decor with attentive service but disappointing quality of genuine Sicilian dishes. Presentation was good, but the flavours of the individual dishes were lacking. We had expected better.

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the museum in Aidone and on our way to the Villa Romana in Piazza Armerina. The room is so well set out that I felt rather under-dressed in my tourist uniform of shorts & sandals, but the service was impeccable - I certainly wasn't made to feel out of place. The food was... We had reserved a table for six and arrived late. They could not have been nicer about it. The menu for the day included a wonderful baked pasta dish, which I greatly enjoyed. Everyone seemed happy with his meal. Nice local wine. Excellent restaurant for lunch. Our driver agreed with our choice and said it was the best place in... More

We took the trouble to seek this place out based on the reviews and were delighted we had. The quality and inventiveness of the food was exceptional - the key is prime quality local ingredients imaginatively prepared. Prices were equivalent to an average neighbourhood restaurant in London and considerably less than similar food and service would cost in central London.... More

A good menu and an extensive wine list are complemented by the decor and good service. However given the number of other very good places to eat the prices were too high both for the food and the wine.
