"The Greek" first opened its doors in 2008 and is a Greek company. Offers the simplicity of traditional Greek food with local products and daily freshly prepared dishes. Our secret is that we have the kitchen mom Katerina who cooks with love and taste traditional recipes naxiwtikes. The family's father Michael, having years of experience in catering, created "The Greek" which in course passed into the hands of his son, John. Children Argiro, John, Maria and Manolis will care for the warm reception and correct service making you feel at home. The restaurant has a garden that is a perfect setting to enjoy your meal. When you visit Naxos, do not hesitate to visit us: will become your favorite part.

In another review I said that we met in Naxos a friend, who had lived in Greece for a number of years, and her husband. She liked to go to more upmarket Greek restaurants, with fancy menus and fancy tablecloths, etc. When we met them on Naxos, which they know as well, we arranged to meet them for dinner in 2 restaurants that we chose. They loved them and our friend asked us how we chose places like these. We replied something like this. We choose places that look busy, that do not have fancy tablecloths or fancy menus, but generally serve reasonably traditional Greek food, though with some exceptions. They must have open wine at a reasonable price. These places generally are family owned and do not have to pay high rents that means that often ends up in poorer value for money.
The first place we met them in was Akrigialo in Agia Anna, which we know well and loved. For our second night, we were having dinner in Naxos Town and we did some research on the internet and read Trip Advisor reviews. We had a good walk round town and looked at the reviewed places and their menus, prices and locations. Many were on busy streets with traffic noise and fumes. We liked the look of El Ellinko with its large very nice open space back from the street. We had a look at their menu, which we liked, and we saw they had craft beer from different parts of Greece. We asked if we could have just have a beer. As we were sitting, they were preparing for the evening and all the tables were being set up – so obviously they were expecting to be busy and this was late September during Covid 19. We booked a table for 4 on a little terrace furthest away from the road.
The meal was excellent, the service was very good, the atmosphere great and the final price was very reasonable.
The restaurant was also very busy but the distancing was perfect because there was so much space.

Had the stuffed peppers for a starter, which were very good, not spicy at all and surprisingly not heavy either. We had the Pastitsio and a Lamb/Lemon entrees, both were quite good and we cleaned our plates - which is surprising given the big portions.
Nice ambiance - big patio, some tables quite far from the road, some quite sheltered from the breeze by a vinyl 'wall'. Popular place, not quite full when we left at 8:00PM in very late September, but almost. Service was very attentive in contrast to some of the other restaurants we ate in. Price was consistent with most other restaurants we tried in Naxos - in other words, a bargain!
We'd originally planned to go to another nearby restaurant, but the ambiance and menu of To Elliniko changed our minds. Turned out to be a good choice.

The place is beautiful to begin with and the food is really good. We were served by a rather switched on lady that not only was very nice and recommended dishes to try, she would give us a bit of history of the dishes. I think the beauty of the place, the good food and the great service made for a really good experience in an otherwise very touristy town.

We visited the restaurant in mid July. This was the best dinner we had on Naxos, which is truly high praise given how fresh everything is on the island and how many other terrific restaurants exist. Prices were incredibly reasonable, the atmosphere was very laid back and the restaurant is located on a quiet neighborhood street away from the main area in Chora. Service was superb and extremely helpful explaining the number of unique dishes the restaurant offers.

Had a wonderful dinner in the beautiful outdoor terrace. Better book in advance, and order less than what you think you will need. The waiters will not stop you from over-ordering, so be careful.
At the end. they treated us to the most amazing portokalopitta!
Wonderful Greek hospitality.

We decided to sit at this restaurant because it was close to our hotel,but also because the menu had a great variety of vegetarian options, which is hard to find in Greek restaurants, as they're all really meat focused!
I've been working in hospitality for a decade and I have to say that this was some of the best service I've experienced. The host, Argiro, was so polite and attentive! Her 2 year old daughter stole our hearts when she gave us the menu and kept us entertained trying to pronounce our names. All the guys working on the floor were very kind and professional.
The food was unbelievable! We stayed in Naxos for 4 nights and we ended up having dinner there every night, because we wanted to try everything we could!
We were so happy to find so many delicious vegetarian choices! We had; zucchini croquettes, dill and taramas croquettes, dakos salad, "elliniko" salad, black eyed peas salad, beetroot salad, the vegetable moussaka, "gemista", fried rolls, saganaki, and sea bream fillet during the 4 nights we visited. It was all so tasty! Just don't bother going anywhere else! This restaurant has all the good food you need.
The atmosphere is also amazing. It's like you're sitting on a Greek village square, next to an olive tree that is 150 years old. There's soft and warm lighting and the best Greek tunes (but not the cheesy tourist Greek music that others play).
WE RECOMMEND; Fried rolls (SO GOOD!), "To Elliniko" salad (so light and fresh), vegetable moussaka (OH MY GOD!) and the black eyed peas salad that might look simple but it's that simplicity that makes it SO great!
DO NOT MISS: The Orange Pie with ice cream!!!! (Just thinking about it makes me want to get on a plane and go to Naxos)
Overall we had the best time eating at this restaurant. We'll never forget it! Can't wait for next summer to visit again!
We want to personally thank Argiro for making us feel like home and being such a funny and amazing host!

Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, lovely staff. Could not have asked for more. Truly a wonderful experience. The fried feta is amazing and their musaka is phenomenal! The portions are quite big bit luckily we were able to get our leftovers in a takeaway box :)

We stopped off at this restaurant for an afternoon drink and after seeing the delicious-looking dishes being delivered to other tables decided to book for dinner. What an amazing restaurant - beautiful setting, really friendly staff, tasty food and a good wine selection. Great choice on the menu, we found one starter and two mains just the right amount, everything was great, but especially the pork rosto and goat. We’d definitely come back here.

Easily THE best restaurant in Naxos. We’ve been four times now and it is well above the standards elsewhere. The quality of the food is impressive. Service is fabulous and outdoor setting allows you to be away from the hustle of old town and feel part of the neighbourhood. Even the plate of spinach had oodles of flavour. Naxos sausages really tasty!

Wow, what a gem. A bit outside the main touristy part of Naxos town, this restaurant is a must visit for anyone. Both the seabass fillet and the pork chops were phenomenal, and priced very reasonably. Their outdoors dining area is also very romantic, especially at night.

We absolutely loved dining here!! So much that we visited three times during our stay! Every dish we had was outstanding, from the fried zucchini, the beet salad, the main dishes and the outstanding orange cake!
We were immediately made to feel welcome by Silvia, who was so wonderful and did an excellent job of recommending dishes. Everyone there was so kind, friendly and helpful!
A trip to Naxos is not complete without at least one visit to this delightful establishment.
We will definitely return, hopefully very soon!

Ok, so we really liked this place and came here 3 nights in a row during our recent stay in Naxos.
The setting is simple yet beautiful, the staff are AMAZING, such lovely people even when they are rushed off their feet (which is pretty much all the time by the way!!) and the place is packed all the time so it has such a nice buzzing atmosphere! If you come to Naxos you must come here.
If they had more options for gluten and dairy allergies I would honestly give it 5/5. Still, you will find something to eat here whether it is fish or meat or veggies and the portions are very generous indeed so you will be satisfied.
It's the kind of place where you can come on your own or on a date or with a big group and still have a great time no matter what.
Make sure you book in advance - when you see the never-ending queue you will understand why but you won't be disappointed!

We ate dinner here early one night so the crowds were light. This place is often booked up later in the evening. The dinner was good and everything cooked appropriately. The bread appetizer with garlic butter was a huge hit with everyone. We had grilled pork chop, chicken and spaghetti for our main meals. All meals were enjoyed and no complaints from anyone. What I thought made this great was the orange cake! It was served with home made vanilla ice cream. It was moist and had the best texture of all the orange cakes I have tried. Service and price is what you would expect in Greece. The atmosphere was nice with a large outdoor seating area to enjoy the weather.

We tried to visit the restaurant yesterday, however a very large queue did not help our chances whilst a 1hr waiting time did not appeal to us.
Tip - Make a reservation!
We decided this was too long to wait and agreed to return another day.
Today, we immediately understood why the restaurant was in high demand with queues.
High reviews aside which I’m sure attracts a high % of international customers it’s seem the local Greek community also enjoy the restaurant - which is always a good sign!
The restaurant has a calming atmosphere whilst the menu offered traditional and reasonably priced Greek cuisine.
We ordered Zucchini, Feta wrapped in filo for starters and this was delicious.
For main we ordered Soutsoukakia and Kleftiko.
The food was delicious and the flavours exceptional. The meal was definitely 10/10!
The complimentary Watermelon also was a nice touch for a taste of Greek!

Although we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated right away. As the evening gets later however it could be harder to get a table so might be worth reserving if you’re going at Greek dinner time.
Firstly, the staff are wonderful - genuinely polite and helpful. Emphasis on the genuine, as we didn’t always feel like it was genuine service with a smile in some places.
The food is simply delicious and fresh. You won’t regret dining here. My daughter and I both commented that we wish we had have found this place earlier.
Lastly, although we took away two orange cakes (super delicious, although I recommend it without ice cream) at the end of our night there, this was the cheapest meal we’ve had in Greece so far - we were very surprised!
If you’re local, make sure to try it out.
