Have been coming to Naxos for many years and this was the first time we ate in this wonderful place. The food was amazing and so fresh, wonderfully cooked and served by friendly and welcoming staff. The place was packed with lots of locals. Excellent...value for money. Hope to return before we leave.More

This taverna is right below my Airbnb in Naxos. I noticed it was packed every night, and a couple of locals told me it was good. So I finally went there last night. I have had some very good meals on this island, but this...was the best. I loved it that it was a local place, not at all touristy. The fish was perfectly fresh, and the way it was prepared was delicious. They also had a local Naxos wine served in a metal cup, which was unusual and that I liked very much. I’m planning to go there again tonight for my last night in Naxos.More

Everything started all good with some Greek lessons and nice staff until our food arrives! Two of four dishes were very spicy. When I asked to the woman to change that with something else, she told me that it’s written on the menu that it’s...spicy. The onion tart which was the tart of the day, the waiter did not mention that this is spicy and for the stuffed peppers it was saying on the menu ‘spice’ and not ‘spicy’! They offered us at the end à fruit salad as they offer to each customer. Would not recommend that place tho.More

I had a good meal and was very satisfied. Moderate prices, helpful staff, decent food. A lot more quaint and interesting that the typical Greek tourist restaurant.

We passed this taverna a couple of times, once when just a few people were having drinks and then later when it was busy and people were eating what looked like lovely food so the next evening we decided to go early to have ouzo...then return after a stroll to eat. We arrived a little after seven and one other person was having a drink so we sat down and were greeted by a lovely young man, given menus and had a look. Menu was typical Greek fare just what we wanted for later. From there the experience went down hill. The momma of the taverna came and explained the specials of the day and when we said thanks and maybe we would eat later, could we have ouzo off she went and then we were told that if we were just having drinks we would have to sit on the roadside seats. At this point we should have left but we were so stunned that we stayed and had our drinks. By this point there was just the one table taken - ours!! What an uncomfortable and unwelcoming experience. I hasten to add that we took ourselves and our money off to eat in another traditional taverna that night. What a rude woman.More

Amazing food, great prices, and even better service. This place was recommended to us by a local and is 100% worth going to. They cater to food allergies and are very attentive. Such a wonderful visit!

By far, Barabbas is the best ouzeri style restaurant in Naxos. The food is fresh. The service is super. The menu is pretty standard with some staples; however, the fresh fish can change daily. This may be a bit of a disappointment if you have...your heart set on a particular item. Rest assured, this is not a bad thing. It simply reiterates the freshness and quality of the dishes Barabbas serves you. The service is A+. The staff at Barabbas leave no glass half empty! The staff is there to ensure you have a fabulous experience and know how to enhance your meal without seeming intrusive. As is customary in most Greek style restaurants, at the end of the meal, you are with a complementary dish of fresh fruit. My husband and I have eaten here during all seasons when visiting Naxos. Pre-pandemic in the winter, the restaurant also has live music by local minstrels and other musical talents. The facilities are immaculate both pre- and post pandemic. When friends are visiting the island, we usually bring them here for a delicious meal.More

The food was moderately bad, the service was also not polite. Some of the dishes were very bad, a couple of the dishes were really delicious. For example don’t get the octopus (we tried both the grilled and the marinated one and both were bad)...nor the fried squid, nor the marinated gavros fish (anchovies, they tasted good but they were not even filtered as they were supposed to be). Do go for the tzatziki and the onion pie which were amazing. We were also shocked when they omit some items from the receipt and they also charged us for an additional bottle of ouzo we didn’t have. All in all the feeling on the way out was very bad.More

Really... no one can rate it more than 2 stars. Food under average, wine is a yellow dirty water, table in the middle of traffic jam, feel of dirty everywhere. It costs less (not so much) and worth lesser. Avoid it. Do it for yourself.

It is one of our favourite places in Naxos town. We love gathering there with our friends after a long day and have dinner or just bits & bites with our wine. Everything there is made with fresh and local produced ingredients. The atmosphere is...always authentic and welcoming. In a few words it's totally worth a visit!More

Had dinner here as it is always busy so thought it must be good. We ordered grilled fish which should have been cooked a bit more. Service was quick but I think this is the problem of being in a hurry to get the food...on the table so was not as expected. Would I go there again, most probably not.....More
