First of all, I'm from New Orleans, and that makes me a food snob by nature. Secondly, I consider BBQ a Southern thing, and Virginia is too far North for me to consider it "southern". So, I prepared myself to write off the BBQ as...simply "edible". Surprise! That was in the top 3 best BBQ's I've ever had in my life. As for comedy, Cozzy's has been around since the 80's. I'm not sure, but I believe it's the longest running comedy club in the whole state of VA. Now, to the average consumer, that may not mean a lot, but but as an entertainer, it's a big deal. Comedy clubs and comedy rooms have been closing at an alarming rate. Clubs have been closing due to poor management, and lackluster entertainment. Which is why Cozzy's is still around. The owner carefully selects who is worthy of gracing her stage, because she knows what her core audience likes. Knowing that is what has kept her in business for over 30 years. It's ALWAYS A good time there. Stop by and check it out one weekend. You will not be disappointed.More

This was my first time performing at Cozzy’s. The owner and her staff were on top of everything all of the time. This is a well run comedy club and tavern! The audience area is close to the stage, but customers aren’t stacked into each...other. There is room to breath and laugh! The food is phenomenal! Anything smoked is fantastic! Within minutes you can gain a new friend in this place. No bad attitudes. Just all wonderful humans looking to enjoy a good time together.More

Saw the Robin Williams "incarnate". Had dinner---very ordinary. Nothing special though they said they had great crab cakes. Just OK

We've lived here for a few years now and decided to give this place a try. We we're not disappointed! Hillarious, fun and good food. We almost didn't even want to review just so we could keep this place to ourselves! Perfect place for couples,...friends or just if you want a good time. We recommend the friend green beans and the tuna bites, both were perfect and shareable.More

This is an intimate, "cozy" venue for comedy shows. By "cozy", some might say a bit cramped if the show is sold out. The condition of the club is quite divey (i.e. I'm not sure I would order food there), and smelled a bit of...stale cigarette smoke.More

I think, as far as comedy clubs go, this one is relatively small. Food and drink was available. The show was funny.

It is a nice little place. First time there. Food was ok, we order buffalo wings and got BBQ wings, oh well, waitress was friendly but seemed stress and in a hurry every time she came to our table.

As the name implies, this is a comedy club where comedians perform. Often national artists present materials. Food and drink is available. Friendly staff. Affordable evening out.

If you don't mind a hole in the wall place for food and laughs, this might be your place. While I generally enjoy places like this, my experiences here have not been great. Slow service, flat and expensive beer, and okay food. The food isn't...expensive, but you get what you pay for. I've had the burger, the wings, the cheese sticks, the chicken fingers, the loaded fries and the chicken sandwich. All were what you'd expect for frozen food. Prices range from $6.99 to $10.99. Like any comedy club, some comedians hit it off well while others, not so much. It's located in a fairly desolate location in Newport News, so it's not in the best place in the city. It's dark inside and hard to see how clean or dirty the place may be. Again, it's a hole in the wall venue, so don't expect fancy.More

Great local hang out where Cocoa Brown got her start along side Wanda Sykes. Buy an annual pass for $45 and get in all year for free. Good solid menu for sandwiches and ribs, burgers salads etc.

I love this place - easily accessible and it can be seen from the main road. The staff is courteous and pleasant and I found them to be very welcoming. We have our favorite waiter who is extremely attentive and personable. We never had to...wait that long for drinks or food with him, but some of the other servers were not as well organized. The food is great - hamburger to die for and always good friends. The comedy - as everywhere - is hit or miss - but it is a nice place to feel safe and entertained while hanging out with friends. We liked it so much - we joined the V.I.P. program. Julie Scotti has been the absolute best act we've seen there. I recommend it to everyone. Who doesn't need a good laugh??More

Shout out to Cozzy's for honoring the military by providing free admission on July 4th, Memorial day and Veteran's day. We have been here many times to hear different comedians (our favorite is Rahmein Mostafavi). The drinks are cold and the jokes are funny. Highly...recommend the ribs!More

We decided against a crowded shoulder to shoulder comedy club, and found Cozzys on our Map search. From the time we arrived at the door to a lovely blond woman taking our money, until the same blond bid us a good night, it was outstanding....The food was excellent at excellent prices, and the drink specials (try a Trash Can!) were also exceptional. The comics were fresh and sassy, and the Emcee was a real hoot. I had a blast and will return on our next Hampton Roads visit. We may even make a trip just to return!More

There is not really an 'official' dress code, Every time I have been there, people were wearing jeans and t-shirts, shorts (in the summer), or slightly dressier casual clothes when it was a 'Showcase' night.
