I first heard of this place on one of those "13 places you're likely to miss but you'll be sad you did" kind of things on Facebook. I'd driven past it a hundred times and just not noticed the sign. It's in a strip mall, nestled in between other businesses with a very unassuming sign. Walking in, you'll notice 6... More

I am a newcomer to the area, and a friend took me to lunch at Midtown Eats. She was craving a burger which sounded good, but then the owner (?) described the Tokyo Burrito. I tried it, and it was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten! Seriously. Great place... Excellent food... Friendly staff. I highly recommend... More

Stopped by with my wife, our six-year-old, and our three-year-old after visiting the Virginia Living Museum on our vacation. This is a hole-in-the-wall type of place, but it has great food and friendly staff. The chef (and I'm guessing the owner) greeted us when we came in and offered to make our kids any sort of "kid food" even if... More

My company have been eating here since it first opened. Within the last two months things have changed. The food is not as fresh and good and the waitresses are not nice at all. It seems as though it is under new management because there is a big difference in the service. We won't be back anymore. Such a shame... More

Took 30 to 40 minutes for my wife and I to get our panini's and preparation poor. Not even heated enough to completely warm the cheese or warm the chicken and tomato. Cold like right out of the fridge. Can't understand how they got the good ratings?

Economical, good service. We have ordered for lunch a few times and they are prompt in their preparation.

Went to Eats today, and sat at the counter. Ordered the salmon salad, with fresh cherokee-purple tomatoes, corn shaved off the cob, baby greens, fresh mozzarella, kalamatas, and a wonderful vinaigrette. The salmon was beautifully seared, with a crusty skin and a rare interior. I was floored. Will be back!

We tried Midtown Eats after hearing about it several times on Facebook. What I really like about this place is that it is unlike anything else in Newport News, and the menu changes everyday. We happened to visit on burger and tapas night. When we arrived, our waitress brought us two slips of paper each with about 5 different burgers--which... More

The freshness of ingredients, balance of flavors and creativity of the entrees keep us going back to this restaurant. They are always willing to tweak their items to suit picky kids and have fun new specials with the seasons or weather. The chef/owner makes you feel like you are at home and at a gourmet restaurant at the same time.

Midtown Eats is a very small place with huge taste. The specials are amazing. Love the swiss mushroom burger
