My husband and I tried this new restaurant in the neighborhood. It looked promising as when they opened for dinner at 5pm, diners are started to fill the place. I would have given it 1 star but food was decent (I’d say okay to good)....Here are the reasons why I gave them 2 stars:
-servers and hostess congregate in the hostess’ small area to talk in between serving which makes the area looks crowded and it is by the entrance
-our waitress forgot to tell us about the specials, other diners complained about it too!
-she only asked my husband for drink and left and assumed that I will share his wine carafe
-our entrees were delivered before they cleared our empty appetizer plates so we ended up trying to move things around our table to accommodate our entrees
-we were given soup spoons to eat our dessert
-we were given the wrong bill to pay
-our waitress asked if my husband wants to take his remaining wine home as she can put it in a bottle for him, husband said no/not yet and she just took the carafe and rebottled our remaining wine anyway for us to take home. It was given back to us in a huge bottle inside a white paper bag. Husband actually wanted to finish the wine there but anyways! We noticed our waitress seems nervous or very new so we did not complain.
-to top it all, when we got home, husband wants to finish the wine and realized that the wine tasted a little different. Apparently, our remaining red wine was re-bottled in an oversized WHITE WINE bottle! For wine lovers this is very unacceptable, even re-bottling a wine to be very honest is not acceptable.
I trained service to hotel staff and flight attendants on 5 star airline and impeccable service is very important to me. The Vineyard Trattoria may not be a fine dining place but the service we got is really below the standard you would expect from any restaurants, fine dining or not. I hope they really improve on their service big time as this place have a very good potential.More
