It's got location, ambience, style, service, a great menu, a great chef and a great wine list. What else can I say? It is also pretty expensive, but then you'd expect that, and you can't begrudge it on a relative value for money basis! Wouldn't eat there every night, but once/week would be perfect!!

I had read reviews of this restaurant when preparing our holiday culinary journey. We had a little list of restaurants we wanted to try on the island. I do not necessarily go with what is at the top of the trip advisor list as reviews are subjective but, in this case, I am so glad we did. We finally decided... More

This is possibly the best in La Flotte. Would come under the fine dining category, though it does not preclude the fact the French are more than happy to accommodate your well behaved dog under the table in even the best restaurants. Would that that applied to the UK. Very good menu for lunch and a la carte evening. Fish... More

We went as a couple to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and is possibly the best seafood I've ever experienced. As our French is limited, we photographed the menu and translated the night before. However, I'd be convinced if you ordered randomly, it would still be awesome! Expensive, but quality is so good that it's really just good value for... More

We tried the various restaurants in La Flotte during the course of our stay. This restaurant was the culinary highlight of the holiday with fantastic food and perfect service. A well deserved spot as best restaurant in Ile de Re.

Absolutely outstanding. I often refer to trip advisor for restaurant recommendations and make a point ( as often as possible ) to visit the #1 on the list when traveling somewhere new. The reviews are spot on with this one! The staff a softly spoken yet well informed and pass on their knowledge to you as each dish is served.... More

Another visit here since last year. The menu continues to offer excellent value with superb cooking. The wine list is not as expensive as some. Service is discreet but attentive. We spoke with the owner who said the French were not going out nearly so much due to the economy- however they manage to keep afloat with the British and... More

What a fantastic place L'Ecailler is, well worth the four hour drive there and back. The seafood was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive. We will definitely be going again, as soon as possible.

Our second stop on "la vie en Rose" tour :-). The freshness of the produce and the simplicity of good local cuisine know-hows from the cheff is amazin! We had langoustines - to die for!!! Fritures in onion garlic tomato sauce with a touch of dark pepper are worth a flight back. Even though the restaurant was crowded and a... More
