Sunset and foie

Drinks on the terrace overlooking the gorgeous view along the Dordogne. We were brought our amuse-bouche to enjoy with our pre- dinner drinks which was a great idea. The uncooked foie gras with the strawberry foam, jelly and bread was a great combination. The duck was perfectly cooked and tender... read more

Our party of 5 stayed here for 4 nights in September 2015. The location of this hotel and restaurant is one of a kind with a beautiful view of the valley below. We had dinner in the restaurant every night and recommend everyone to do the same. One of the owners is the head chef and his pride of ownership... More

This hotel is overpriced with a mediocre and pricey breakfast. Try to avoid room 7 and try for a room on the Dordogne River side, if you stay here.

Superb higher end restaurant. Both food, wine, and service are exceptional. We chose this venue for our wedding anniversary. It was a risk, not having prior experience of it, but it was recommended by the owners of the gite which we were renting. The menu was classical French fare, but the attention to detail of decor, attention to guests, and... More

Great service, wonderful views, good wine list and good, but not exceptional food by French standards. Some of our dishes were very good; others less so.

Truly gourmet, friendly service. The ambiance is perfect in this attractive setting. Eat outdoors, if possible -- some great view!

Polished wood is a sign of a well established and confident restaurant in my experience. L'Esplanade has lots of it, as well as Madame on the desk, her daughter as front of house, her son in law in the kitchen and a magisterial head waitress who runs the restaurant with great charm and efficiency. It was Madame a few years... More

This is the first time I have visited this restaurant, normally I avoid places in high tourist areas. This restaurant has a great outlook at the top of the town overlooking the valley below. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. The restaurant offers good quality food, excellent bread accompaniment and good wines. The service was good and we thoroughly... More

Excellent food, service, view, atmosphere and wines! Our dinner was just incredible. The salmon fume, fois gras and magnet were prepared in such a beautiful manner. It was very enjoyable.

It's a long ride up mountains to reach the cliff upon which the restaurant is perched literally. Nevertheless, it is worth the effort. The view over the valley is incomparable for the area. Our meal was an enjoyable multi-course affair. During our dinner no less than 10 very colorful hot air balloons drifted right over us on the terrace. Suggest... More
