It had been awhile since last we dined here...we had last eaten at Boca Baco which is next door so felt that a change was in order. We came in for brunch and started with a Macua which was excellent - fruitier and sweeter than...others I have tasted! I ordered the chorizo appetizer which was a great start to the meal. We were served a salad which was very good as part of our main entre of a beef filet with jalapeno sauce. The filet was tender and flavorful and complimented by the jalapeno & onion sauce, oven grilled potatoes, and oven grilled plantain. My wife chose the "churasco" which was cooked to medium rare perfection. The cut was also very tender and flavorfull. We completed the meal with a dessert tiramisu which I enjoyed more than other tiramisus. This tiramisu was not as soft as others I've tried. Pricey but recomment highly!More

This seems to be a Granada staple! Does the job for sure, loved the service. We loved Boca Baco next door more in terms of food (we got steak at both) but happy we stopped here to check it out. Service was fast and attentive....Would recommend to check it out at least once. There was an old white dude who took of his sandals in the restaurant and had his gross open feet exposed under the table. This had no impact on my review I just can't stop thinking about it.More

Best food we experienced in Granada. My wife had the shrimp 🍤 and I had the Jalapeño steak. This restaurant is known for their steak and mine was excellent. Jacob our server was excellent without being overbearing. Go here you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful attentive wait staff. Ricardo was an amazing server. The food was delicious. The shrimp and whole fish were cooked to perfection with flavorful seasoning. The garlic bread is true best in town. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant.

In the town of Granada Nicaragua the El Zaguan is a lively restaurant located just behind the cathedral and the Parque Central. Good menu with steak, pork, chicken in various guises on offer. Reasonable prices with the menu priced in US dollars. Local beer and...other beverages at reasonable prices. We had a hamburger and the pork loin both delicious, served promptly by friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended when visiting Granada Nicaragua.More

The best flank steak I have ever eaten and even better than any filet mignon that I’ve eaten in the USA . All the food was fabulous in our group, but again the flank steak was out of this world.

Worst restaurant experience for us during our trip in Nicaragua. We came based on great reviews and recommendation, so maybe we were just unlucky and hit the chef’s day off or something, but I doubt that. In short, portions are tiny by Nica standards, prices...are very high for Granada, the food is meh at best, service was the most disappointing we’ve had in all of Central America. For example, one steak was ordered as medium but arrived completely raw and dripping (probably saw the fire for 30 seconds on each side max). When pointing this out (nicely, not playing the rude gringo card), waiters got very upset and offended and initially refused to do anything about it. This was just one instance; the rest of the food was also by far not worth the prices they charge.More

Had read great reviews so thought we would try it out. When we got to the restaurant I looked at the reviews and there was a terrible one so we were a little worried. We travel the world and I can tell you the waiter...(Jacob) was incredible. He recited the entire menu to ensure I knew what each dish came with as I don’t speak Spanish. He was patient with us, my husband ordered a local drink Coyolito and he took the time to explain the process to make it with coyolito, pineapple, cinnamon and ginger, the two day process. He even brought us some of the fruit to our table that had been processed. It was delicious. I ordered the chicken skewers with satay peanut sauce and extra salad as I don’t eat carbs and my husband had fish. Both meals were expertly prepared and excellent. My meal came with lots of salad and some homemade dressings instead of rice and rices and bread and our dinners were so good. The service with Jacob was impeccable as was the food. We highly recommend you try El Zaguan in Granada, Nicaragua. You won’t be disappointed.More

I would give zero if I could! I traveled the whole world and this is the first time I ever write a bad review for a restaurant. It is their dishonesty and how they make their guests feel! Horrible horrible horrible experience! We ordered a...few drinks, cerviche and ribs. Cerviche is nothing like the Peruvian ceviche we had, they use canned corns, not much fish and the sauce is not that flavorful. For the main course, they recommended the rib saying it is very rich so we got it. the meat is whiteish inside and covered with this disgusting honey sweet sauce. It is that bad that we both could not eat one more piece so we barely touched it. Then the restaurant is not being honest at all. On the menu it says the cerviche is $8 and on the final bill it shows $19. When we asked why, we were explained because the cerviche is mixed (well, shrimp and fish but the portion is still a tiny bowl with mostly corn and onion). They never explained that when we made the order!! Anywhere in the world restaurants don’t price cerviche that way! In summary, this place is totally dishonest and the food is not good, definitely pay attention to your bill and save your money somewhere else if you can!More

We really enjoyed our evening here. When we first arrived we did not feel the vibe. Once the staff was ramped up (we went for an early dinner) the service was amazing. Nice selection and good value for a nice restaurant. We like to cook...at home over restaurants, but this was "cook at home" quality.More

Ordered fish ceviche (which is listed at $8 on the menu). The waiter recommended the mixed ceviche (ceviche mixto), although it wasn't listed on the menu. We agreed to the change without asking the price. When the Ceviche arrived it was 1 normal portion with...half fish and half shrimp. When we got the bill, we were charged $18 for the dish (that's an increase of $10 on an $8 dish, just to replace a bit of fish with some shrimps). When we asked about it they claimed that the increased price was because of the shrimp. This is absolute BS as shrimp is dirt cheap and would never justify a 225% increase in the price. For reference we paid more for a ceviche mixto then we did for a steak dinner. This is a classic scam used to rip-off tourists. If there is an item not listed on the menu, offer it to the customer and hope they don't ask the price. If they don't check, then charge them some exorbitant rate and then argue with them until they agree to pay. This is what happened in our situation. It's really sad when a restaurant does this. They think that tourists will never be back, so they try to squeeze every dollar out of them, with no regards for the reputation of the restaurant. It's extremely short sighted and doesn't work for very long. Hopefully this type of behaviour is highlighted in their reviews and this restaurant goes out of business. It totally ruins the dining experience when you have to constantly be on your guard, confirming the exact price of evey item you order, so that the restaurant can't scam you. Save your time and energy and go to a different restaurant, this one can't be trusted. They will try to scam you if you are not vigilant at all times. It's disgusting.More

Superb quality food, steaks are their speciality! If you’re feeling hungry go for the 16oz fillet… super tender and they know how to cook it properly based on your preference! Not a cheap night out by Nicaraguan standards but as a special treat it’s worth...the spend (which is still about half the cost of an equivalent meal back in the UK)!! Located just behind the cathedral in the main square, east to find and very safe to wander around back to the main activities only a few yards away afterwards. Recommended 👍🏻More
