Great grouper, softshell crabs, really know how to fry! We're passing through and will stop by on our way back.

Definitely not impressed. My chicken fingers were rubbery as well as the scallops. Server Forgot my kids drink then forgot the fries for my kids (they were sharing fries and crab legs). My husbands blackened grouper was great. The server was not too good as our drinks were empty. Then ran the credit card several times with some refunds. The... More

We ate here on the way back from Chincoteague to DC. You'd never stop to eat here if you wouldn't get a tip from a local like we did. The atmosphere inside is great - all dark wood, lots of pictures from years ago of locals with the fish they caught, shark teeth, rods, etc. and no windows. A cat... More

My wife and I went to dinner at Ray's while staying in Chincoteague. We were seated quickly and our server came to our table promptly to welcome us. She was very helpful in helping us order. She recommended the blackened Mako shark and it was amazing. My wife had seamed crab legs and said that they were done just right... More

We stopped at Ray's for dinner on our way out of town. If possible get there before 5:30 and make a reservation, as they only take reservations up until 5:30 PM. They have very large portions, so make sure you are hungry. Personally, I think they have the best fried oysters I have ever eaten. It's down-home goodness, with little... More

If you're looking for excellent local Eastern Shore seafood, this is the place. I've been there several times, and everything reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. This is real, authentic, locally caught and cooked seafood. It's not fancy - it's either broiled, fried, or steamed - but it's fresh and it's AWESOME. After a long day and a 2 hour... More

We are exploring the Eastern Shore and found Rays Shanty. The service and food were great. We had fried mako bites for appetizer. I had the blackened mako sandwich; it had a great blackened grilled taste on the shark. It was very moist on both the bites and sandwich. I will have to come back here next time on the... More

First time visitor to Rays Shanty on recent trip to Eastern Shore. Not a fancy place but decorated with lots of fishing and hunting gear...some pretty old....had its own character! The place was packed and noisy. A good kind of noisy from family and friends talking and laughing, relaxed and enjoying themselves. Then the food came!!!! Lots of yummy seafood.... More

We've owned a vacation cottage on Chincoteague for more than a decade and Ray's has been a longtime favorite. Friendly service, a comfortable and interesting interior and really fresh, really good seafood are the hallmarks here. It's not fancy and can get super-crowded. But you're in for a nice treat.

We were passing through the area and decided to go a little off the main road to visit this restaurant. Obviously this was our first time there, so I dont know how it always is, but my service experience was the best i ever had. We were greeted SO warmly. They literally showed us around the place before seating us.... More
