We were hungry and saw a sign on the highway for this great little gem. We always like to try local when traveling and this was by far the best local restaurant we have ever dined at. From the time we parked and saw the...buildings we knew we were in for a treat. When we walked in the doors, we were greeted by a neat gift shop full of locally handmade items that included baked goods, jewelry, art, crafts and such. We strolled in amazement and were then greeted by a nice young man asking us if we would like to be seated. The restaurant was small but comfortable and lots of natural light. The servers were so kind, engaging and helpful. The food...DELICIOUS! Farm to Table is the way to go. We visited on a Sunday and the Sunday Brunch menu was perfect! It was so hard to choose what to have. The food is amazing, we have no complaints and this will definitely be a stop when visiting the area.More

The fresh seasoning and meat were so flavor- full. The pizza was cooked to “ my perfection soft center crunch crust with delicious meats” husband quote- The wait staff was engaging and attentive. The store added a warm country feel with a variety of local...vendor merchandise. I bought my college age environmental savvy daughter a Tshirt which had the sketch of the pizza my husband ate - he’s not at all a vegan or veggie lover so his love of healthy foods is remarkable as he is as describing the pizza experience to me while we drive onward to Tennessee. We’re on a couples running away fro m kids and family few days-a-way vacation- much needed great place- perfect old fashioned small town in America real site- cute as hell! PS try the butter nut squash black bean soup.More

What a great find for our family that avoids fast food. Only a half a mile off I 81 in Southern Virginia. Very friendly staff that knows the menu first hand. Chef is creative and skilled. Dining room is open, airy, down home. Added plus...for eco-friendly take out box. Double fun with the general store next door.More

My family and I have eaten twice at the newly re-opened Harvest Table, and we are loving it. The barbecue we bought for a picnic on July 4th was some of the best I have ever had. My son is a foodie who is quite..."into" serious barbecue and he was highly impressed. Today we ate "on site" (outdoors where they have grapevines, beautiful herbs and vegetables) for Sunday brunch. They were good at following all the COVID safety rules. I ordered the BLT which included fried green tomatoes, wonderful bread baked at the restaurant, and on the side was a large serving of excellent creamy grits, plus roasted potatoes. My wife had the chicken salad on a croissant. My friend had the omelette. Several of us also had the gazpacho. Everyone loved their food. The chef, Charles Parker, came out to our table and chatted. He is very professional, and also down to earth. The server was very efficient, accommodating and informative. The typical entree was only $12 and came with more than I could eat at one sitting, so I consider it to be reasonably priced. I wish I could have handled a dessert - they have a large cinnamon roll which was so enticing, and they also had other great-sounding desserts. The fact that the restaurant buys most of its ingredients from local farms is just incredible. Some restaurants try, and maybe they get 10% of their ingredients locally. This place is the real thing. I highly recommend it! And they have a nice store inside, where you can buy all kinds of Virginia-made goods, and even the novels by internationally-renowned author Barbara Kingsolver (she and Steven Hopp, her husband, own the restaurant).More

We found this one-of-the-kind restaurant off I-81 in Virginia on a driving trip to New England. It is called "The Harvest Table". It was easy to find, a little more than a mile from the interstate. You walk through an old and quaint general store...to enter the restaurant. The setting is a little rustic, but we liked it. They had a wood fired oven to cook their specialty pizzas, so that is what we ordered. This restaurant uses fresh off the farm ingredients, including vegetables, cheese and meats. It made the pizza taste different than I had ever had and also very good. We will probably never be in the area to go to this restaurant again, but if we did live close by, we would frequent Harvest Table.More

Visited on a Saturday just when place opened. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Our bill for 2 people including tip was $85 (one app, small salad, an ice tea, & 2 entrees). Was it worth it? Absolutely NOT! What we liked: goat cheese...dip - it was awesome! We both ordered the Steak Alfredo for entree - big disappointment. Overall the dish had very little flavor. Steak was tough. Pasta sauce was very watery - NOT Alfredo. Sauce should have coated and stuck to noodles. Raw heirloom cherry tomatoes would have brought more flavor and complexity if they were roasted? There is more flavor in chicken broth than this dish. We came here based on reviews and I’m assuming we came on an “off” night. If we ever come back, we will get the goat cheese dip to go.More

This little restaurant has a fairly limited dinner, and it takes a while to get your food, but it is worth the wait. The pizza, burger, pork bellies and even the vegetarian dishes we sampled were all very good.

Restaurant features locally-sourced food, beer, wine, and even local crafts in a gift shop that you enter to get to the restaurant; it appears to be an important contributor to the local economy. Combinations were interesting, but seasonings were off: the smoked trout dip was...too salty, and the entree was bland.More

I had lunch here with my husband. He had the barbecue pork with potato salad and baked beans. I had the trout cake sandwich with collards. Everything was delicious and the server was friendly and efficient. We sat outside on a patio which is covered...and shaded with grape vines. You must try this place. So I have been back here two or three times. This last time I had the lamb burger special. Too delicious to describe, made with cooked mushrooms and tasty cheese spread. Love the down-home atmosphere of this place.More
