About
Here at the Harvest Table Restaurant we are dedicated to our local community and it makes a difference you can taste! We source most of our food from within our own regional community, dealing with over 75 local farmers and growers we are proud to know and call by name. We also have our own farm that supplies our produce needs. We are known for our dedication to locally grown food, and the delights of seasonal eating. Operating a modern restaurant with a commitment to local foods requires rethinking how a menu operates. In most restaurants, the chefs design the menu and order food appropriate or necessary to make the menu work. Our approach is precisely the reverse-- to start with what's fresh

My wife and I came here for their Valentines dinner and it was awesome! Quaint little place with country store next door with alot of local arts and craft type things. We loved the food, the atmosphere and the staff were all so extremely nice...and accommodating. We will definitely be going back for their regular breakfast, lunch or dinner menus as well! Thanks guys for a great night out for Valentines!!More

My family and I have eaten twice at the newly re-opened Harvest Table, and we are loving it. The barbecue we bought for a picnic on July 4th was some of the best I have ever had. My son is a foodie who is quite..."into" serious barbecue and he was highly impressed. Today we ate "on site" (outdoors where they have grapevines, beautiful herbs and vegetables) for Sunday brunch. They were good at following all the COVID safety rules. I ordered the BLT which included fried green tomatoes, wonderful bread baked at the restaurant, and on the side was a large serving of excellent creamy grits, plus roasted potatoes. My wife had the chicken salad on a croissant. My friend had the omelette. Several of us also had the gazpacho. Everyone loved their food. The chef, Charles Parker, came out to our table and chatted. He is very professional, and also down to earth. The server was very efficient, accommodating and informative. The typical entree was only $12 and came with more than I could eat at one sitting, so I consider it to be reasonably priced. I wish I could have handled a dessert - they have a large cinnamon roll which was so enticing, and they also had other great-sounding desserts. The fact that the restaurant buys most of its ingredients from local farms is just incredible. Some restaurants try, and maybe they get 10% of their ingredients locally. This place is the real thing. I highly recommend it! And they have a nice store inside, where you can buy all kinds of Virginia-made goods, and even the novels by internationally-renowned author Barbara Kingsolver (she and Steven Hopp, her husband, own the restaurant).More

We found this one-of-the-kind restaurant off I-81 in Virginia on a driving trip to New England. It is called "The Harvest Table". It was easy to find, a little more than a mile from the interstate. You walk through an old and quaint general store...to enter the restaurant. The setting is a little rustic, but we liked it. They had a wood fired oven to cook their specialty pizzas, so that is what we ordered. This restaurant uses fresh off the farm ingredients, including vegetables, cheese and meats. It made the pizza taste different than I had ever had and also very good. We will probably never be in the area to go to this restaurant again, but if we did live close by, we would frequent Harvest Table.More

Visited on a Saturday just when place opened. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Our bill for 2 people including tip was $85 (one app, small salad, an ice tea, & 2 entrees). Was it worth it? Absolutely NOT! What we liked: goat cheese...dip - it was awesome! We both ordered the Steak Alfredo for entree - big disappointment. Overall the dish had very little flavor. Steak was tough. Pasta sauce was very watery - NOT Alfredo. Sauce should have coated and stuck to noodles. Raw heirloom cherry tomatoes would have brought more flavor and complexity if they were roasted? There is more flavor in chicken broth than this dish. We came here based on reviews and I’m assuming we came on an “off” night. If we ever come back, we will get the goat cheese dip to go.More

The quiche was excellent! We chose homemade potato salad as the side! Could not resist the dessert so we shared pumpkin cake! Beautiful and tasty. Excellent frosting and lots of it!

This little restaurant has a fairly limited dinner, and it takes a while to get your food, but it is worth the wait. The pizza, burger, pork bellies and even the vegetarian dishes we sampled were all very good.

Restaurant features locally-sourced food, beer, wine, and even local crafts in a gift shop that you enter to get to the restaurant; it appears to be an important contributor to the local economy. Combinations were interesting, but seasonings were off: the smoked trout dip was...too salty, and the entree was bland.More

I had lunch here with my husband. He had the barbecue pork with potato salad and baked beans. I had the trout cake sandwich with collards. Everything was delicious and the server was friendly and efficient. We sat outside on a patio which is covered...and shaded with grape vines. You must try this place. So I have been back here two or three times. This last time I had the lamb burger special. Too delicious to describe, made with cooked mushrooms and tasty cheese spread. Love the down-home atmosphere of this place.More
