Burgers and spicy fries

Tiny spot off Rivermont Ave. Basically a bar with a few benches and tables with a pool table taking up a good portion of the space. The star here is a really good hamburger and the spicy potato wedges served with ranch dressing. Both are best in the city. Cash only.

I love the Cavalier, Burgers and Fries are some of the best in the area. The Cavalier needs some upgrading, especially in the kitchen area where the grill is tilted sideways and there was an odor of sewage while we were there. Keep the nostalgia but do some upgrades. I still had a great cold beverage and fries that were delicious. My daughter ordered a grilled cheese that took about 20 min. to cook. We were facing the kitchen so we could see the cook back there reading. There were no gloves worn and when I saw him blow his nose and then go over to the grill and touch the top of the grilled cheese sandwich to flip it over and then touch it again to put it in the basket, that was enough for me. My daughter didn't say anything, she just asked for a to go box and took the sandwich and threw it in the trash at home. I understand the need to blow your nose but, wash your hands and wear a pair of gloves and change them often PLEASE!!!

Grabbed a Beer and Exceptional Fries

Stopped here after a long day at work for a cold beer, also was told to try the seasoned fries as they were amazing. Well I chose to try the Loose Cannon Ale and did order the fries, both were superb. The atmosphere is very unique and much more like a run down bar, but it has a unique appeal that definitely suits it. The staff is friendly and the service was great. I'd have no problem stopping here again for a cold beer, just be aware it is a cash only establishment.

Recommended to us for lunch. Arrived for brunch. Rudest waitress ever. Angry and bitter. Have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant. Went on over to the Texas inn and was welcomed with open arms. Had a great early lunch sitting at the counter.

Cult classic, very cool!

Leaving your legacy carved in wood without fear of blue lights is priceless. Let the Cavalier mojo work it’s manic as you dip those seasoned fries into thick buttermilk ranch. Play pool, drink beer and of course, spill some tea. Oh, bring real money, they don’t do plastic.

Have driven by many times, we thought it was a convenience store. Had great hamburgers for lunch. So big we could not finish them. The place was busy even though it was around 11:00 in the morning! We tried the fries, which were not to our liking. Too much salt! Do not get the ranch dressing either. Next time we will just get plain fries. Need to try the Reuben as well. Everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked good. Another stop along Riverfront to add to our list of places to eat!

Atmosphere! Good food!! Friendly people!!! Authentic Lynchburg!!!! This is a must visit if you want to reach back to classic diner atmosphere and old fashioned pub food.

Great for Children and Adults

We live far away, but come down for college games sometimes. Whenever we come down we always have to go to the Cavalier. The food may not be the best but the atmosphere sure is! License plates line the walls and ceilings and you can carve or write your name on the wooden booth.

Great Neighborhood Bar

My son and I stopped by for a quick bite. I had a couple of beers and we played a few games of pool. The food is very good (especially the hot dogs) and the beverages are cold. But the service was way below par. Our waiter (do not remember his name) never checked on us and I had to go find him several times. Really bad. He seemed really out of it.

Delish food. One of our favs.

We love this place. They have delicious burgers and the best seasoned fries in town. Place has been around forever, has hundreds of license plates adorning the walls and is super cool. You can write/carve your name in the table to remember your visit.
